“Great place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

It is awesome, animals on the loose... No, really, it is a great place, great for kids, great for adults. The only thing that i recommend is going in a car bigger than a small compact, because inside de zoo you have to drive on a dirt road, and even small cars can get there without problems, but it is easier in bigger cars. Buy the CD, it is cheap and really informative. Also, they have an app for iphone, you can download it before and it is also a good guide. When you finish the tour, go to the place where they have the kangaroos, it is great, you can touch them and be literally inside their cage!!.

“Fun Place to Spend the Day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2013

This is not San Diego Wild Animal Park - don't expect that level of attention to the habitat. It is a very nice place to view animals that are not in cages. I took a tour bus and had a very nice day. I took my own lunch but did purchase a cold drink while I was there and it was reasonably priced.

“Very disappointing and sad. :-(”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

I was really excited to see this place, having never been to a safari park before. I had LOVED the sound of it - it sounded huge, like the animals had so much space to roam in natural habitats, with other animals. The reality of it is, it is a drive-thru zoo, and not a good one either. There are a few different climates themed, but they were missing much-needed vegetation. They were only 1 or 2 or 3 of each different type of large african animal, not nearly enough for social herd animals to live happily or behave naturally. There were few or no small animals, which are just as important to ecosystems, and just as interesting. Information about the animals was limited to "African Elephant", "Zebra", "Giraffe". Nothing about their native range size, migration habits, behaviours. All the animals looked SO SAD! I felt horrible knowing I had given money to a business which was clearly neglecting and exploiting these poor creatures!

Please, please don't come here, and don't bring children here. If you want a good zoo experience, I highly recommend Belize Zoo. I also recommend snorkelling tours in Belize and Playa del Carmen, for up-close contact with animals.

I went in 2010.

“Not quite to U.S. standards but worth a visit, especially with kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

It's not San Diego's Wild Animal Park, but Africam Safari does pretty well. We enjoyed a 2-hour guided bus ride through the facility's vast grounds, and saw diverse creatures, from elephants to squirrel monkeys. If your Spanish isn't up to snuff, you may not be able to follow the guide's explanations, but if you enjoy watching animals, that probably doesn't matter. Giraffes, warthogs, zebras, and other creatures come very close to the bus. After the bus ride, there's an opportunity to walk around and see more animals.

An inexpensive bus runs between Puebla and Africam, or you can arrange a taxi.

There are a lot of really unique things to do in Puebla, so I wouldn't put this on the top of your list unless you really love animals or your kids do. We went because we needed something to do on Christmas Day, when most other activities were closed.

“An enjoyable family outing!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013

Spend the day! There's lots to do! The entrance fee, at almost $200 pesos per person is very expensive by Mexican standards. You can imagine that all those animals eat a lot! You drive through and view the animals. At the first stop, kids can ride a llama or families can (pay extra) to take a boat ride on Lake Valsequillo. There's also snacks and a gift shop. Then you drive through some more, and there's a stop where you can see tigers, monkeys, hippos and hyenas in "habitats". Snacks for sale here too. The following stop is the zoo and there's a picnic area where you can have a picnic. Highly recommended. At the zoo area, there's a butterfly sanctuary, bats and a great kangaroo area. Lots of different animals in cages or "habitats". There's also a few shows. A bird show. Another gift shop that you have to walk through (cover the kids' eyes) to get in or out of the zoo area. (Insider scoop: The founder of Africam Safari was mauled by a tiger and died of his injuries in the '80s, I believe.)
