“Experience the flavour of Puebla Zocalo from your room”
Reviewed April 1, 2012

Hotel is just 20 minutes from the Capo bus station. Located right in the heart overlooking the zocalo in fact our room, junior suite has big doors onto a balcony with a view of the cathedral. Great benefits - don't have to go far for entertainment - downside - noisy at night - more the trucks delivering potable agua.
Good hot water shower that doesn't run out. Safe in room. Bathrooms could do with a makeover.Mattresses don't go down in the middle. Cable tv in Spanish in jnr suite. Breakfast fruit or juice, eggs bacon or ham, bread, tea or coffee. Comida looks a bit expensive here compared with what is on offer elsewhere.
Hop off hop on bus - turi bus available in the zocalo. Good way to orient and offers seniors discount.

The location is superb. Our room overlooked the zocalo which was IDEAL! There was not too much street noise as we had feared. Our only complaint is that the lighting in the rooms needs to be doubled!!
The hotel staff accommodated our requests fairly quickly. We received outstanding service from the restaurant manager, Victor Hugo. He is an employee par excellence! Breakfast are quite nice and the restaurant has good food at fair prices. Miguel, who I believe is the senior staff person at the desk, is marvelous, helpful, kind, etc.

A real negative, however, is Arnesto, who manned the reception desk on Saturday. He was not helpful with our questions, not friendly almost to the point of being rude. He needs to go!

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to overlook the zocalo. It's the greatest.

We didn't stay in the hotel, but I had to give my review of the best meal I had while in Mexico. We had lunch outdoors overlooking the park in the centro and the zocalo. The atmosphere was great, and we really enjoyed listening to some marimba players while we had our lunch. There was also a band playing in front of the Zocalo, and people out walking everywhere. My husband and I both ordered the carne de la casa, and it was fabulous! It was served with some delicious guacamole. They also served a nice bread basket with butter seasoned with chives, and had two very delicious salsas. Definitely would go back!!!

The hotel is excellently located on the zocalo and has a good shower and alright bed. However, the parking is not free (15 pesos an hour), they only give you breakfast for the first morning (an a pretty poor one at that) and every day after is 60 pesos each. Also, the wifi is very poor. We had internet for the first day, but then it stopped working.

The hotel building is very nice, but with the impersonal service and the need to pay for everything on top of the actual price, they sucked all of the atmosphere from the place.

It is not a bad hotel, but don't expect the level of service to be too high.

I stayed at the Royalty Centro for 1 week in July. Reception offered me a choice between 2 rooms which were available at the time: one with a view overlooking the cathedral & the zocalo, and another (which certainly would have been quieter) but that had no view. I opted for the one that allowed me to fully experience the sights & sounds of Puebla's main square. I never regretted the choice!

The rooms at the hotel vary in size & location (as do many in Mexico); ask to see yours so you know exactly what you're getting, particularly if it is for a long stay. Ceilings are almost 20 ft high so that gives them a certain traditional charm. Noise, both inside the hotel as well as from street-level, can be an issue for some people.

The hotel and the rooms are clean & well-maintained and have basic amenities. The restaurant has very good food served in a prime location.

I can't imagine returning to Puebla and staying anywhere else!

Room Tip: There is no air conditioning so that may be a factor in your choice of rooms. I didn't miss it d...

We stayed here for one week and had a great room overlooking the cathedral and zocalo. Great location I guess except it's a busy location. This is definitely where the action is. Different restaurants around the zocalo have live music every night.

Pillows were really hard. Breakfast was very nice with a full buffet each morning. Dinner was delicious here also.

Room Tip: Very large room and very airy with 2 French doors that opened onto the zocalo.

The Hotel Royalty is the best value in Puebla City! We have been travelling through the City for years and always end up at the Hotel Royalty. We've tried other places, but realized, why go anywhere else; this is the best. It's right on the Zocala... within walking distance of all of the best Centro Historico sights. The restaurant in the hotel has good food and great atmosphere at the street seating.

We'll be back, time and again!
