I visited on a Monday which was fortuitous since it was free. The prehispanic section - which I think is the best- is closed for at least 18 months whilst it is renovated. One is able to ppek into the entrance though and it is a shame it was closed as it looks great.
I found the silver section and the furniture section not that interesting and most explanations were in Spanish only.
I would not recommend it until the most interesting part reopened.

We enjoyed our visit to this museum but were underimpressed--maybe because our expectations were set very high by the guidebooks. We enjoyed the exhibits but there weren't many. We almost missed the second building.

Everybody recommended this museum. However, the place was great but the exhibits somehow scarce according to the expected. The buildings had many works in process so probably our opinion may be biased on the wrong side.

The Amparo Museum, located in the historic center of Puebla, is one of the most important historical museums in Mexico.[1] It was inaugurated in 1991 and sponsored by the Amparo Foundation,[2] which was founded in 1979 by Manuel Espinoza Yglesias in honor of his wife.[3]
