“Comfortable, peaceful and close to everything”

We stayed at Casona San Antonio for 6 nights. It's in a beautiful old colonial building with a central courtyard on a quiet street in a great location, only a few blocks from the zocalo, near lots of museums and restaurants. The hotel is spotless, the beds are comfortable, the staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, it had a great shower and plenty of towels were provided.

We stayed here in mid November for a couple of nights. It was OK,but just OK. Nothing special. OVerpriced by about $50,
Tries to pull off a modern twist but misses the boat.
Room was dark, and if not for the constant spritzing of the air freshener, would have smelled funky.
The front desk and restaurant staff make an effort, but they don't have much to work with.
The continental breakfast included in the room rate is a joke. Really, they shouldn't bother.
This is not a bad place, it's just not a great place or even a good place. It's just OK.
The saving grace is its proximity to the zocalo and museo ampara.
You can do worse, but you can do better for the money, we think,

Room Tip: Ask to see several rooms....

I just love this hotel! It is in a colonial house in the center part of town. It has been remodeled so the room was very comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. The bed and bedding was great. They have wifi but it didn't work that well in the room but I just sat outside on the tables and I enjoyed it more than being inside the room. It's About 2 blocks away from the back of the cathedral. Walking distance to everything in the center of town. The rooms are clean and very pretty. The breakfast that was included was very delicious. The service was excellent. Everybody went out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. It is such a cozy place. I will definitely return to this hotel on my next visit to Puebla.

Room Tip: I chose the room on the first floor and we was really pretty because it faced the patio that had tab...

Service could improve during peak hours, but it's a nice, clean, typical hotel.

Restaurant offers typical dishes, although only have a handful of them.

We didn't use SPA services, maybe next time.

Room service not available on Sundays after 2PM.

Highly recommended!

My experience with this hotel was good. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. The location was convenient if you want to be in the historical part of town. There are plenty of nice restaurant near the hotel. There are 2 things that I didn't like. One was that I could hear every noise coming from the lobby, and the second is that the door in my room has 4 little windows that let the light from lobby in and it was a little annoying for me. I like to sleep in the dark.

Would I stay there again? I think so.

Casona San Antonio is just what it should be, a small, well run hotel in an old hacienda located a few blocks from the Zocalo, the heart of Puebla. The staff welcomes you as if to a private home and the spacious rooms are set around a charming courtyard.

I feel the San Antoinio falls between "average" and "very good" which I guess would be "good." The hotel is an odd spot - somethings are quite wonderful, others less so. We originally booked a "classic suite" but found that not only wasn't it a suite in the sense of more than one room (and this is a general regional use of the term "suite") it was a small, dark room that faced onto an inner courtyard with tables and bar service. And, as it turned out, many hours of canned music. We immediately upgraded ourselves to a "junior suite" which was far from this spot, quiet and much nicer. It cost about 20$ US more per night which was worth it. Our new room was also on the dark side but it was quite well appointed with a wooden ceiling that must have been 25 feed high. It had an excellent bathroom/shower (good pressure, lots of hot water - not so obvious in Mexico) and high speed, completely reliable wifi internet. It also had a very good bed.

Despite it's self-branding as a "spa" the San Antonio feels more like a small business hotel.

The one real real problem with the hotel was the complimentary continental breakfast. In a city justifiably renowned for its food (the home of mole poblano, no less) the breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, a fruit platter with unripe papaya (don't even know how you get that in Puebla) and white bread toast with a couple of little containers of butter and jam. Very sub-standard. When I pointed out to the waiter that the papaya wasn't ripe - he nodded and that was the end of that. I'm not sure what the rest of the menu (they're open for dinner, also) or even the full breakfast might have been like but it was off-putting.

That said, the staff was friendly and helpful and our nights were quiet and restful. If they could fix up the kitchen (or abandon it altogether) they would be better off.

Room Tip: Beware of the rooms around the small courtyard. Canned music and probably not too quiet.
