with all the other positive comments. Stayed in this lovely little hotel in July 2013 for a solo weekend trip. Zacatecas is a precious city/big town -- what a treasure. I'm so glad I visited. Despite the U.S. State Dept. "alert," I felt no danger, walking the stone streets and admiring the incredible colonial architecture. In the evenings, families fill the plazas.

Room Tip: If you need an elevator or first floor, specify, as some rooms are only accessible via stairs. And s...

What a great property! New, modern, comfortable....why cannot large hotel chains design their rooms with this much character? Mr. Torres, the owner, is a great host. He spoke to us and definitely has an owner's pride in this property which he has developed over his lifetime. My stay in this hotel really was the cherry on the cake of what was already a great stay in Zacatecas. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

We stayed at Casa Torres for a week around Easter (also the Zacatecas Music and Culture Festival). The hotel is on a quiet street and is a quick walk from the Cathedral and main street. We stayed in room 303, which was large (giant bed!) with couch and desk, and doors that opened to a private balcony. Hotel is fairly modern with atrium allowing lots of light in the intererior. The balcony looks out toward the main street and being able to see the day dawn is a delight. Great breakfasts featuring fruit, cereal, cottage cheese and toast/morning pastries. Lots of art everywhere (including in our room). Restaurant has terrace that looks out in the same direction as our hotel room. Special thanks to Yolanda at the front desk for making us feel so welcome, and Nellie in the top floor restaurant for looking after us (and helping with the pot of coffee we drank in our room each morning prior to breakfast)!

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies are great; rooms that face interior have windows looking into atrium; they look...

Casa Torres seems to be quite new, and is quite the treat. Not the typical 'authentic' Mexican place, but very comfortable and thoughtfully put together. We stayed in a room facing the street with a big balcony, with a fine view of the town. But staying indoors was great as well, because of the bounciest carpet we've ever set foot on! Furthermore, a good bed (with duvet), nice couch and a small but well-appointed bathroom.
Because it was quiet, we got a suite for a steep discount without asking for it. Also nice of course...

Room Tip: The suites on the upper floors facing the street are a great choice because of the lay-out and the e...

I stayed at Casa Torres for three nights. The "standard" room is very small and would have been claustrophobic; fortunately, they upgraded my room (without my asking) and the junion suite was very comfortable. The staff is very helpful and the top-floor restaurant serves a nice breakfast, which was included in the room price. The location is excellent -- a block from the cathedral but on a side street, so you miss the noise and foot traffic on weekend evenings. I was there for the International Folkloric Dance and Music Festival -- it happens every year and was outstanding. I highly recommend it as the time to visit beautiful Zacatecas. Don't miss the amazing Rafael Coronel Museum of masks. Huge collection and extremely informative (in Spanish only).

There are fantastic works of art in all the hotel.
Also, there is an exquisite taste in every room that makes them very comfortable. The bathroom is small, but relaxing.
My only complain about the hotel are the rooms that have windows to the stairs of the hotel, because is very small and it can be a little noisy.
At breakfast, ask for the omelette with mushroom and cheese!!

My wife and I just spent a week in Zacatecas. We had checked all of the hotels on trip adviser and Fodors and decided on Casa Torres. A great decision especially after chjecking all of the others out in person. We stayed in a junior suite on the third floor with a balcony overlooking the whole city. It was elegant and quiet. The staff were extraordinarily accomodating and sweet. The hotel has a top floor restaurant for complimentary breakfast. Dinner was available as well. The only flaw was that the bathrooms were a tad small. We highly recommend Casa Torres.
