“Could not be better”

My wife and I have traveled to Morelia many times, and Casa Xola is the best place we have found. It is immaculately clean, very convenient to the Cathedral, central plaza, and best restaurants. The breakfasts are excellent. It is very safe too. We stayed a week and hope for a longer visit the next time.

It feels like you are staying at a friend's place as the service is so personal and hospitable. The hostess is kind and easy to talk to. She has a gem of a property a stone's throw from the centre of Morelia. The rooftop garden is beautiful and compliments the rest of the property. The highlights for me: delicious breakfast with great coffee, good sized bed with excellent bed linen, friendly atmosphere. Morelia is stunning. It was easy to get to from DF by bus and then taxi. I definitely want to return.

What a pleasant surprise to find such wonderful accommodation and comfortable beds and hot showers and sweet landlady behind normal looking doors on the street. Kind of like finding Narnia in a wardrobe. The wifi is nice too and did I mention a rooftop garden?

Just a couple of minutes from the historic and beautiful centre of Morelia, all that indicates the presence of Casa Xola from the street is a door sandwiched between a garage and a little local restaurant (although a sign is in the process of being installed to make it less discrete) Behind it, however, is an upper floor apartment built around three sides of a little courtyard open to the sky planted with lilies and ferns with a roof terrace above. It has all been beautifully restored by its owner Arleigh Schneider who made us feel very welcome from the moment of our arrival. Breakfasts were delicious, the bed in our room big and comfortable and the shower powerful with lots of hot water and everything beautifully decorated with local textile wall hangings. Really one of the nicest places we have stayed in. Do go.

Caso Xola is located in the heart of historic Morelia, just a short walk from the cathedral and town square. I will be returning next year to see and experience more of this beautiful city; the music, the art, the street artisans, the markets, the architecture, the university, all of it was incredible. And I will be staying once again at Casa Xola. Arleigh's B&B is worth a visit. You will not be disappointed.

This is a great B&B in the heart of Morelia! The owner has done an impeccable job renovating/remodeling the property to one of the nicest I've seen in Mexico, through which I have traveled extensively. The breakfasts were great, and Arleigh creates an extremely relaxing atmosphere. A wonderful experience!

We recently stayed with Arleigh at Casa Xola and had the most wonderful time. Not only is the house beautiful, cozy, and instantly welcoming, but the location is very convenient to mostly everything worth seeing or walking to in town. Arleigh has dedicated a lot of time and effort to make her house beautiful and comfortable, providing comfortable beds, linens, nice art in the rooms, clean and elegant bathrooms, a beautiful rooftop garden patio, and great breakfast...it was truly a treat to come home to every night.

Morelia is a pretty and very interesting town full of arts, crafts, and culture - with colonial architecture lining the streets and lots to do that's not as well-trodden as Mexico City, perhaps. If you are considering a trip to central Mexico, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: all three rooms are very nice. We stayed in the only one without an ensuite bathroom but it was no l...
