Without a doubt, Parrilla y Canilla serves up the very best steaks in Morelia, but it's more than a steakhouse. The thin-crust, delicate pizza is also Morelia's best. And so is the Orejona de la Parrilla (Romaine lettuce grilled over a wood fire, topped off with freshly grated Parmesan and roasted tomatoes). There is something for every taste in the Parrilla's menus from pasta to chicken and fish dishes, hearty salads, chivitos (Uruguay's national sandwich). Lety, the sommelier is helpful, pleasant and approachable when it comes to fine wines. You won't eat here just once; you'll keep coming back and coming back and coming back. The Parrilla's not just another restaurant; it's a way of life. And save room for dessert -- the apple strudel is out of this world. If you don't love this place, there's something seriously wrong with you.
I'm somewhat limited by TripAdvisor's options. I eat here about once a week -- with another person, with friends, on business, and alone. But I know I'm not alone in making recommendations about this place, which is situated in a residential neighborhood off from the usual tourist trails. There's more than ample free parking, and if you don't have a car, it's easy to hail a taxi.
