Heard about El Desemboque from a fellow travler to Puerto Penasco who was tired of the "Cancun-ing" of PP. A friend has a friend living in rural Sonora who was able to make us a reservation.
If you want an North American experience, go to a hotel in N America. For a Mexican exp, go here! It is a tiny hotel, about 8 rooms, only half-full when we were there. El Des. is a fishing town peopled by the Seri native community, and the beach is full of people making a living fishing, their boats, dogs, and yes dead fish heads! But the rustic beauty is unmarred by , well, anything touristy. ANYTHING! These folks fear becoming another Rocky Point. The restaurant @ the hotel- tiny, simple, EXCELLENT food - which is good, since there really isn't anywhere else to eat in town! They serve as many meals as you want, whenever we were hungry, they were there.
Hope someone who was searching for El Desemboque like we were finds this priceless little place. The phone # included might not be the hotel itself, but the woman will get you to the hotel. It is a tiny community.
