Loved everything! It's a must! If you're patient you can see whales, dolphins, sting ray, turtles, kangaroos...
Beautiful views of different beaches and gorges

We spent 10 days of August on Straddie. We got off-season rates and the place was not crowded at that time of year. It was a bit chilly for swimming, but lovely weather for whale-watching. We saw whales jumping, slapping their tails, and waving their fins every day. Sometimes they were very close to land. We also saw dolphins, manta and eagle rays, sea turtles and birds, including our first albatrosses. We saw all of these from Point Lookout without leaving land. Our daughter loved the kangaroos, which she cannot see at home in Vanuatu. The North Gorge Walk is spectacular, and South Gorge has a pretty little beach between the granite walls. I am told that Straddie can be quite crowded in the summer. I recommend going there during the winter whale-watching season.

Prepare yourself for breathtaking views and a great walk; lots of beautiful water creatures to sit down and watch. I was lucky enough to go in November on a gorgeous day when many dolphins were out to play, as well as many mantarays and even managed to see two whales in the distance. Allow a minimum of 2 hours to take in the view/complete the walk.
