This motel is no-frills but certainly fine for a few nights. We visited on a cold, wet weekend and my main concern was being warm enough. The wall heater was loud but heated the unit quickly. My sister and I chose the two bedroom unit so we could have some space, and this we had in abundance. Dated, yes, but with fresh paint and recent carpet. On the down side, the bathroom is pretty pokey and there was only one comfortable chair in the lounge - could fit another. If you visited in summer you would want an outdoor space - we overlooked the pool from the kitchen but there was no direct access to it. All in all, completely adequate.

Thank you Cathcam55, we appreciate your feedback. And yes, that heater has to go! You will be pleased to know that over the coming months we will be working to upgrade room features and furniture. In reference to heaters we will be introducing environmentally friendly (and quiet!) heating options. We look forward to your next visit, I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised! Thank-you once again, your feedback is vital to providing all guests with a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

I stayed at Wairoa Motel in January so have been meaning to write this review for a long time..

Being a kiwi that has lived in London for 11 years, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Wairoa Motel, and the town in general. Having not been able to find a place to stay in Napier, I am so glad I stumbled across Wairoa Motel!

The manager/owner (I forget his name) seems to be doing really good things to try and put the town on the map. The main street of Wairoa is built in the same Art Deco style as Napier, and the museum is definitely worth checking out too.

I particularly enjoyed eating my cooked breakfast by the pool (see photo).

I also got a great recommendation for the Club Restaurant (their burger is as good as the world famous Fergburger in Queenstown, in my opinion - another delayed review..), which was described as "you need to press the buzzer on the door, they'll let you in and you need to walk through the bar to a restaurant around the back" - though it is definitely not the scary / dodgy experience that I admit I was half-anticipating..

It was a shame I only stayed one night, but I definitely recommend staying at Wairoa Motel!

Hi Russell, I remember you! Was really nice having you stay at Wairoa Motel, and really happy that you got the chance to visit Wairoa and experience this neat little town. It really is a hidden gem, with lots to see and do. Last week we saw the first rocket launch from Mahia Peninsula, history in the making with a successful maiden launch by Rocket-Lab... the first privately owned rocket launch facility in the world! And work has just begun on Wairoa Adventure Mountain-bike track, it's all happening here in Wairoa!
Hey thank-you for your honest and kind review, from all the team at Wairoa Motel and we hope to see you again one day soon!

After a couple of less than appealing stays in Airbnb flats, this place was a godsend. We stayed in the cottage unit, very well supplied and decorated. Service was exceptional, Ruben and Meri went out of their way to accommodate us. They picked us up at the bus stop, gave us late check-out, and drove us into town. Motel had many extras, such as free use of bikes, trampoline, pool and hot tub, and laundry. So glad we stopped at Wairoa Motel.

Thanks for your review! Was a pleasure to have you stay, and was no problem at all to pick you up and drop off. Beats walking with all those bags!
