(lunch, 15 jul 2012)

In our trip from Albenga to Ancona, we stopped in a very hot day to this restaurant, due to "Osterie d'Italia" Guide suggestion.
And it was the first time we were disappointed by the bookguide... probably because it was 2 years old.

We were literally deluded by this restaurant.

We avoided ordering appetizers, because the meager choice of 3 was nothing short of anonymous (vote: 1/5)

Among the 5-6 possible first courses we ordered the "gnocchi" with a simple meat sauce (heavy to digest but tasty) and a kind of dumplings with saffron (good but again heavy to digest). (vote: 3/5)
Among a choice of 3-4 main courses we ordered a mixed grilled meat and pork-style roasted rabbit (coniglio porchettato): the grill was greasy and burnt, while the rabbit was as dry as the Sahara desert. Both very disappointing. (vote: 1/5)

I do not remebered at all the dessert: so it was for sure average level if not anonymous (3/5?)

With such high reviews, and indications on culinary guides, one would hope that a reduced choice of dishes will be compensated by a quality better than excellent. Instead, the food is average or less and the much vaunted "home made" quality hides a rather heavy and indigestible food with too sharp or too dull taste, based on the served dish.

Moreover, we needed around up to dinner time to digest the food (6 hours, with 3 of walk)

The only peasant note was the price: if you prefer quantity to quality it can be a good place to visit... especially if you plan to skip the next meal.

We had a wonderful time at Da Luisa. During a our short family-vacation we stopped by twice since the food, the service and the athmosphere were great. When you are around or even when you stay in Fano its so much worth it to stop by.
