Lovely place and great food, great service. Good for a drink and good for dinner. Very pleased. The fish chowder was delicious and the fish (grilled sole and red mullet) very fresh and well cooked. Service so welcoming!

Thank ffort

Whilst visiting Mersea Island we chanced upon "The Coast" on Weds 10.th July
Despite being close to end off "Lunchtime Menu Service" we were warmly welcomed and offered the full Cooked Menu service if required.
We eagerly accepted the offer and certainly did not regret it!

We enjoyed Haddock and Chips,The Lunchtime special pan fried Mullet and Moules with crusty bread (added to which I requested skinny Chips, "served in a Glass" with Garlic dip)
We were overwhelmed with the quality and value for money of this establishment.
As the recipient of the Moules course, I can honestly say that in comparison to the highly rated Rick Stein establishment in Padstow (Please refer see my review last year.) "The Coast" serving was by far the better.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience at reasonable prices, super service and Kitchen staff with the additional bonus of a surprisingly good location
Congrats to all and thoroughly recommended by all in our party.

Went for a family meal recently as we had heard alot about the coast. It was a beautiful evening and so a drink first outside ovelooking the estuary was really relaxing, and very enjoyable. We sat in the restaurant behind the bar and had starters and mains. While the service and the decoration was very pleasant, the most important thing- the food let the whole thing down a bit.Starters- tempura brie- greasy and unappealling. mains-Ribeye steak- £16-50, asked for it medium, and came out totally well done. Didnt bother to send it back because it was tasty but poorly cooked. Other food was just ok, but really not that good. Staff were very pleasant though. All in all, we were dissapointed as we really looked forward to dining here. Would we return? maybe to give it another chance- but we wouldnt rush there though, shame.

I have visited the Coast Inn many times on different occassions, and always received great service from the team there and as always, the food is fantastic!
Since their refurbishment they seem to have flourished into what I can say is the best place on the Island for food, drink and atmosphere. Whether it is a little table for 2 or a family get together of 20. you will always find them accommodating and once the sun shines, the location cannot be beaten for miles around!
Hats off to the owners and the team there for creating such an amazing Bar and Restaurant.
At this rate, I am a guest for life...

Never ever fails to impress . Staff are great, food is wonderful in summer the views across the estuary whilst seated outside are so relaxing . This hidden jewel in the crown of Essex . Very family friendly and immense portions of good traditional food in unpretentious surroundings . Like everything on Mersea its "Rustic" and may it remain so
