We chose this site because we thought it would be a good base to explore Essex from, and yes it was ,apart from having to travel to Colchester ,about 8 miles, every day to get to a road that would lead to our destinations.
The caravans on the site appeared to be all owned by people who travel down there for a weekend break or by people who work nearby and are using it for cheap accommodation, because during the week it resembled a ghost town. On one night the only people we saw in the night club were the bar staff. Maybe this could be a result of the schools fining parents for taking their children out of school during term time, but we didn't see any older people around either.
On the other end of the scale on Friday & Saturday night the nightclub was so packed we couldn't find a seat & had to wait ages to get served at the bar because there was only 2 bar staff working.
The caravan we stayed in was a Platinum 2 bed. It was clean & fine & everything worked apart from the light in the childrens bedroom.
The swimming pool is rather small, roughly 10mx7m and about 1.4m deep, and the outdoor pool
wasn't open whilst we were there.(See pics)
The resort seemed clean & tidy apart from the windowsills in the clubhouse(see pics) and the "beach" was mostly muddy & stoney & still had some damage from the winter 2013/14 storm.
There didn't seem to be much security on the site during the daytime. We weren't stopped at anytime when driving through the entrance.
Overall it wasn't a bad place to stay if you wanted a quiet week (during term time) and if you don't mind traveling up & down the same road to Colchester most of the time.
There were one or two places to explore on Mersea Island ,but you really need a nice & warm day to appreciate it.

Room tip: can recommend getting a platinum caravan

Thank you for posting your review on TripAdvisor. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and very happy that you were satisfied with your accommodation. June and the beginning of July tend to be quieter times and this is possibly why the clubhouse was relatively empty.

I am sorry that the outdoor pool was not open during your stay, unfortunately the boiler had broken and we were waiting on parts. This is all up and running now and hopefully if you return to stay with us again you will get to enjoy the outdoor pool.

You get what you pay for with any holiday... At these prices, wobbly door handles, inefficient cookers and worn upholstery are to be expected. Fantastic location though so if you are looking for a very cheap base to explore the area, it's perfect. And, if you have young children, the Teamstars here make all the difference. These young girls work unbelievably hard, long hours for (I assume!) not much money yet always have a big smile on their face. They are running stories and games during the day, then singing and dancing all night, 6 days a week. They do their best to get everyone invoked and really seem to enjoy their work.

Room tip: If you intend to spend much time in your caravan, it will be worth upgrading for extra space/better appliances.

Thank you for posting your review of our holiday park on TripAdvisor. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us, but saddened that you did not find our accommodation to be up to standard.

We are privileged to be in a stunning location directly on the beach and a good base for exploring the area. I am particularly pleased to read your comments regarding our Teamstars, as excellent service really matters to each of us.

Thank you once again and we hope to see you again soon.

Just got back from a short stay at Coopers beach holiday park, did they safe it was child friendly?!

Unfournately the resort is far from child friendly.

Our caravan our perfectly located and the caravan was in such a poor standard of up keep ie: gas certificate not applicable , gas fires that don't work including a rather dodgy boiler.

The site is perfectly located and the standards of the resort are better in a war zone.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on TripAdvisor. I am sorry to hear that we did not live up to your expectations on this occasion. We use feedback such as yours to improve our services for future holidaymakers.

I would like to assure you that the boiler in your unit is gas tested and in date, as we would never allow a unit to go out with an out-of-date certificate.

we have just returned from our week break at coopers beach, our first impressions when we arrived were, great clean park area and lovely and quiet.our caravan was dirty, cooker was very dirty and did not work, we had ants in our caravan , both of which were reported to security with promises of returning next day to do something about it but they never returned. (I can't understand why reception closes at 5),telephone reception is not very good there so trying to call security was not very easy, which is not parks resorts fault.
Swimming pool was disappointing out side pool was very dirty, stairs into pool were broken and was also very cold , although it says pool is heated.entertainment area was dirty and dead flies everywhere which were there all week, barman was nice and friendly shame about the pool staff.......when we left we spoke to staff regarding our complaints.
If they could keep it clean then it would be nice,as location is lovely and beach is nice.

Came back to coopers beach after a lovely stay last time and enjoyed it even more. Staff are helpful and friendly and look like they really enjoy their work. Ate in the restaurant most nights and food was good and good valve for money. It was a busy week as it was children's half term but was a really good week. :)
