The Villa is quite easy to find being on the main road through Admont.
The welcome extended by the owners, means you feel immediately welcomed into their home.
The rooms are exceptional and spacious with loads of storage space. A set of bath towels and a chocolate were waiting, and the offer of a cold beer by the owner was very welcome after the drive from Vienna.
In the bathroom is a hair dryer, and a DIFFUSER!!! As someone with curly hair, who uses a diffuser, this was very welcome and unexpected. I was staying in a room on the top floor, so other rooms may not have this very welcome convenience!
Breakfast-well, talk about eat as much as you like. The range on offer was exceptional. No Full English, but a range of breakfast cereals, variety of breads, croissants, boiled eggs (nice and hot and with a runny yolk), cold meats and cheeses, cereal bars and a wide range of chocolate biscuits (the children seemed to eat these for breakfast). Nothing was too much trouble, and you could go up for 2nds, 3rds, 4ths......
When I checked out, 2 cereal bars were thrust into my hand as sustinance for the journey back to Vienna.
The only downside in the rooms was that the TV seemed only to have 2 channels, both Austrian, with the others being satellite ones that had to be paid for. However, TV is not the be all and end all of a holiday, and the free wifi meant I was still connected to the outside world.
The Villa is situated next to a railway line, but remember this is a sleepy village with a train every 15/20 mins, so it is not like sleeping next to Clapham Junction.
Admont is a sleepy little village, one of those places you can drive through at any time of the day or night and not see a living soul. There are a number of gasthofs along the high street that served a wide variety of meals.
Driving on the E57 from Vienna, there is a Rest Station at Triebon, as you take the Admont exit. This is a little gem, along with the Landzeit rest stations along the highways. This rest station served home cooked meals, beers, sandwiches, cakes and was a gem of a find.
I would highly recommend this place as somewhere to stay if you want to explore the local area, as a base for the Austrian Grand Prix (an hour away) or as somewhere restful.
