Spent our 25th wedding anniversary at this hotel and now our 45th! Visited regularly in between. One of the smaller rooms this time but with the end balcony: romantically cosy:) Hotel organise the flowers, Champaign (house) and red wine on arrival fine. Food remains excellent, inventive for a hotel and five course plus coffee, together with excellent service, what more can one ask. The wine - purchased by daughter - was excellent as well as the Champaign which together with anniversary menu and decorated table resulted in a fine evening. Golly then there was breakfast and another meal then breakfast - phew. So I know the place is not modern and if not old world, certainly has amazing charm. For October it was really warm so sat on the balcony until 23.00 drinking after dinner coffee listening to the waves boom in just below. Housekeeping standards are excellent. So if you want something different, special, cosy, good location and to be well fed with lots of walks: this is it.

Room Tip: The extra for a balcony is really worthwhile.

We booked the Cottage Hotel as a last minute thing, we choose this hotel as we could take our dog with us. It really is a lovely place to stay, the staff couldn't be more helpful, the location is 'wow'. There is no denying the place could do with a spruce up, but then if it where to be 'spruced' up then maybe it would loose it's charm. We only had the breakfast which was great, we looked at the 'dinner' menu but even though I am sure it was lovely it didn't really tempt us, but others staying there seemed to enjoy it. Am sure we will be returning next year. Thank You all at The Cottage Hotel.

Room Tip: Booked a sea view room if available for the amazing views

A delightfully old fashioned hotel serving great food. We just stumbled on this place by accident and just loved it. We got a friendly welcome from the current owners (in the family since 1973) and there are great views over the harbour and bay from all the public rooms and, if you can afford it, the rooms at the front. Our room was at the back and quite small, but well appointed and clean. We were encouraged to take the dinner bed & breakfast deal and it was certainly excellent value, getting a five course meal for only £15 a head on top of the B&B rate. The atmosphere in the dining room was delightfully Agatha Christie; mainly elderly couples (even older than we), but one or two suspicious looking youngsters too and a 95 year old with his son, talking loud enough for all to hear. Waiters in waistcoats and waitresses in pinnies scurried to and fro, making sure everyone was kept happy. The cutlery and coffee pots were old fashioned silver and the crockery blue Delft; it all seemed to fit. The food itself was delicious, both evening and morning but five courses (followed by tea and mints) had us almost bursting on the balcony watching the sun go down.

Fortunately no bodies were reported next morning so it was with a heavy heart we left as the hotel was full the next night.

The only slight negative was that the décor in corridors a bit tired but the location and service more than made up for it.

The staff were really charming and helpful and the hotel has a wonderful location overlooking the harbour in Hope Cove. I loved waking up in the morning and the first thing I saw was a fabulous sea view. The hotel is quite old fashioned but I found this a rather refreshing change. Dinner was delicious, but we also enjoyed food at the pub in the village on nights when we didn't fancy eating a five course meal. We were glad to have a car because there is not much to do in Hope Cove but the surrounding area is lovely.

This hotel is a glorious setting for lunch on a Sunday. The roast dinner is delicious and the silver service excellent. To be so near the sea and able to walk outside after such indulgence is heaven.
Coffee in the lounge after dinner makes a comfortable ending to a perfect day.

This was our second visit to the Cottage Hotel, standards as good as ever. It is cottagey and very comfortable. Breakfast and dinner excellent, with a good choice on both menus, as mentioned in a previous review the sweet trolley was impressive. We had a sea-facing room with a balcony, although the weather could have been better we did sit out. The Cottage Hotel is perched on a hill and the views from the balcony, directly in front, are of rocky out-crops and Burgh Island in the distance were wonderful. There are three hotel in Hope Cove but none with the wonderful views that the Cottage has.

Well what a great hotel stayed here in September for a three night break. Like others have said the hotel is a little dated but that is great for us. No need to change anything this hotel is in a great location our rook overlooked the bay. Very clean room which was serviced every day. The food outstanding breakast excellent and the eveing meal was wonderful. Excellent choice with different menu each evening as well as being very creative. The dinner is five courseds but we never managed the five courses. The service was very efficient and the owners went out of there way to ensure all was fine with your stay. There is three hotells in the bay we have stayed at them all now but I think the Cottage hotel had the edge for us personally.
