Description: Opened in October of 2004 by celebrity Chef F. Tadd Chapman, Habaneros Gastro Grill and Tequila bar has developed into one of San Jose del Cabo's most recognized restaurants among locals and tourists alike. Nestled behind a wall of eureka palms between San Jose's hotel zone and historic downtown, Habaneros blends the European style bistro with an eclectic "Mexican Fusion" menu all the while keeping things "Baja" Casual. In the fall of 2006 Tadd was joined by his mother, Christine Chapman to create a family operated restaurant with over 50 years of joint restaurant experience. After 4 years of satisfied clients the opportunity to expand to the adjoining local arose, and thus was born Habaneros Gastro Grill and Tequila Bar.

walking from the hyatt along the malecon i could only see american fastfoods or ripoffs. all were empty or had one lonely customer eating there. after the road turns left you come to a kind of strip mall where the habaneros is located. i saw the menu of the day-quesadillas with some toppings- which sounded delicious to me. unfortunately the restaurant was full- i could not even find a seat at the bar ! therefore i decided to sit ouside in the heat (ceiling fan) and waited for the quesadillas. after almost half an hour of waiting the friendly waiter came to tell me that they did not have any quesadillas left. i was very hungry and got a little bit angry walking inside where i met the boss- a lady from canada. she apologised for the mistake and took over responsibility offering a different dish within a few minutes. i ordered fajitas the pollo which was offered at a higher price than the lunch menu. the owner said that she would only charge the price for the lunch menu. i was pleased.
the fajitas were the best i ate in mexico, including exellent restaurants in DF. they use only fresh ingredients and the cooking time was just perfect. everyone working in the restaurant was very friendly and communicative.
now i understand why this was the only populated restaurant i saw in this area at lunchtime.

This place makes you feel like you are eating in your neighborhood restaurant. The menu has lots to offer and is interesting. Still want to try the quinoa salad, a signature drink on the drink menu and so many other entrees. Salsas were all great--inclduing a pineapple based one. Have a little heat to them which we loved. Great guacamole. Amazing drinks and butterscotch flan. Can't wait to go back when back in town.

We sampled several of the dishes and no one in our group was disappointed. We started with an order of chips, salsa and guacamole. We were served salsa roja, verde and picante. All very tasty with medium heat. The pulled pork taco plate was a favorite as were the chicken and beef fajitas. I ordered a Greek salad which was a refreshing meal on a hot summer day. We sat outside in the patio and the service was very good. We would go back again and try other menu items.

Many folks recommended this place to us and once you visit you will know why! The food is delicious, great fajitas, salsas, we visited for dinner and returned for both breakfast and lunch! Breakfast burritos were incredible!! Fun atmosphere, great staff, we have been here in March, and you almost need reservations as you cannot get a table especially on weekends, December is busy as well. We were just there in July and was very laid back!! One of our favorite spots to visit and we highly recommend to others!!!

This quaint little restaurant is a hidden gem. They have excellent prices for lunch (which I did not take advantage of) and an interesting menu for dinner. Everyone in our party of 4 loved their dinner choice. The presentation and the service was also excellent.
