Loved the seafood quesadillas. The smoked marlin tacos were great, too. This place is ridiculously inexpensive and has excellent food.

Eureka! that's what we said when we visited this little place. we're budget travelers and all the restaurants near Cabo Azul, where we were staying at, were too expensive and touristy for us. we asked for a recommendation for a local place to eat at and was so happy to find this place within walking distance from our resort.

right away you'll feel you're in a genuine, local eatery. it's a very "mexican", open-aired, adobe building. servers are friendly with conversational english skills. the first time we visited, we didn't get complementary chips and salsa. but the second and third visit, we did. we mainly ordered seafood tacos and quesadillas. we all favored the shrimp tacos. the smoked marlin came highly recommended but it tasted like pulled pork, which was very good but just surprising. if i ordered fish, i would expect more fish-like texture.

there's an open salsa bar in the middle of the restaurant. at first i was concerned about hygiene but we threw caution to the wind and decided to be adventurous and piled our plates with as much condiment as we wanted. but we stayed away from the really spicy stuff - make sure you ask which ones they are. when we were leaving, we were bummed to find out there was a basket of complementary fried onions rings on the top of the condiment cart. the second time we visit, it was fried chile peppers, which was too spicy for us. we're happy to report that none of us got sick.

the 5 of us ate happily for about $35-$40. can't beat that!

This small unassuming restaurant on the main street walking into San Jose is a hidden gem and is very popular with the tourists and locals alike. Once your waiter brings you the taco(s) of your choice, you can dress it the way you want at the huge condiments bar. You have your choice of several hot and regular sauces, salsas, guacamole, cole slaw, etc. and sometimes fresh, hot onion rings. Everything is fresh and constantly replenished. The beer is cold.

Well worthwhile seafood in a locals favorite setting. Under a huge halapa structure is a bustling seafood eatery. In the middle a stainless steel " accessories bar " with guacamole, cabbages and several additions to your meal including the best onion rings I've ever had, is frequented by patrons in an all you can eat fashion.
Food: Excellent
Location: Awesome, authentic, clean with plenty of parking
Service: professional
Price: To cheap, they could double it and you'd still be happy.
Try the marlin tacos or the caldo al rese. Or tacos dorados with shrimp. Just thinking of this place makes me want to jump a plane.
