First time we've been to baja sur. but have been to many AL. We were very happy with the service, room, pools. The resort was very well maintained, and clean. Staff very freindly & helpful.Buffett was tasty and the 2 restaurants had excellant food. They do try to get you to listen to the "membership" deal, apolite no thankyou, and they didnt ask any more. the shows they put on were entertaining also. Drinks could have been stronger, hey we're from Wi.! just ask for doubles! close enough to walk down town, and felt safe. we went on 3 cobos adventure tours to Cabo. We walked to the Mega Mart to catch a bus to Cabos San Lucas. no problems. We would go back!

Room Tip: #565 looks out the front of resort to balcony, can listen if out on balcony to rock &roll bands...

I have been to the Riviera Maya and east coast of Mexico quite a few times, and this was first time on the Western Coast. It was a last minute trip, and picked san Jose del cabo and Royal solaris because that was what was available and also very affordable for the Mid feburary high season. The laid back feel of this part Of Mexico was wonderful and. felt extremely welcomed and safe
I travelled with friend and we were both very happy with the area and resort. I have read it many times about this hotel, but it is true~ The staff were all so friendly and accommodating( with the only exception of a few at the front desk that were not so friendly or helpful. Everyone smiled except them... having a pleasanter experience checking in and checking out would have been nice.)
The beach was gorgeous and you could walk and walk forever it seemed. The downfall of this area is you cannot safely swim in the ocean due to very strong under tow and huge waves. I did miss the ocean swimming, but you could still walk and wade in the water, and the oceanview more than made up for the lack of swimming. The beach was the cleanest I have ever seen. There is NO seaweed, or garbage at all!! Just glorious gold/silver colored sand and waves to lull you. Another fabulous perk was that Whales calf in the Sea Of Cortez, so you could sit on the beach and watch whales breech and dive out in the waters right in front of you ! Adults and babies.
The one downfall that we experienced was the food and buffets. I have been to many all inclusives, and I expect food to be so so. Royal Solaris buffets, especially at the dinner theater buffet which is the main dinner dining area, was quite poor. Not only was food limited, but on quite a few occasions i would find the serving dishes, desserts and fruit platters empty. there did not seem to be anyone to keep things refilled to feed all of the guests. The dinner options were limited and seating was a big problem. Rather than a nice , open dinner restaurant it was downstairs in the basement, smokey from the cooking, huge tables where you had to find your own seat and often I had to go get my own silverware . This discrepancy between the service and food at the other restaurants for breakfast and lunch, and the dinner was quite surprising... This is one thing that I think needs to be worked on by management as soon as possible!
They did have 2 more formal restaurants where you had to make reservations that had a completely different feel and level of service, and were nice to eat at~~ but best to make reservations as early as possible if you want to eat before 9 PM.
The rooms were always clean, resort very clean and the smaller size was more intimate and easier to get around. Walking out the front gate you were in the town , and a wonderful friendly town it was! There was a public bus, that was a yellow school bus, that would pick you up and take you into the main part of town, a 10 min drive for $1.00 each way~~very safe!. A nice trip to get out and do a little shopping a see the old village.
So over all Royal S was fine, and I would recommend it to a friend. Just be prepared for lower than average food~ something I do not base a trip on. The feel, scenery and rooms were just great.

This was our first trip to Cabo. We have been to the Mayan Riviera a couple of times and loved it, so I didn't know what to expect on this side of Mexico. The resort was much smaller than any resort we had previously stayed in and so I felt that it couldn't possibly be as good as the others. What I found was that because of it's smaller size it is really manageable - easy to learn the lay-out, easy to get to the bar (very important!) and food services, easy to find a washroom (when your kids tell you they need to go at the very last minute...again), easy to recognize staff and conversely for them to recognize you - which is a plus.

The beach is right there - although you can't really swim in it, you can get in the water and body surf a few waves if you're careful. Besides, the pool is where you'll spend most of your water-lounging time anyway (and the bar is right there!) Conversely you can walk out the front gates of the resort and right into town life, something that was definitely not an option in the large resorts we stayed at in the Mayan Riviera. Its easy to get around by cab or bus and we never felt unsafe. There are plenty of organized activities but we managed to fill our time hanging at the resort, walking the beach and going into town and walking the quaint streets around the mission. I did spend a few days scuba diving with the guys at East Cape Explorers in San Jose - absolutely fabulous!

So...I went in with a jaded view of the resort and area and I've left making plans to return as soon as we can.

Royal Solaris is our home away from home. It is always our vacation destination of choice. We step out of the shuttle at the front door and are "welcomed home" by Gerardo, Omar, or German who take our bags and keep them safely until they deliver them to our room. We then quench our thirst with drinks from Yanet, the waitress in the Lobby bar. The staff in the member's lounge is always happy to see us. Breakfast is a joy, sitting by the ocean, eating an omelet specially made for me. Victor greets my husband each morning with a handshake and me with a kiss on the cheek, and is genuinely happy to see us each day. Ramon, Daniel or George bring us beverages throughout the day as we lounge by the pool or on the beach. I could go on and on about the wonderful service we receive at Royal Solaris, and the exceptional people that work there. The food is plentiful, the staff is friendly, the entertainment is fun.

We had a wonderful week stay at the Royal Solaris in Cabo! February is definitely the month to visit as we were able to see whales from our beach every day. Going to see the Art Walk on Thursday night in San Jose; which was a short walk from the resort was fabulous. We felt very safe on our excursions outside of the resort. The boat whale watching excursion is highly recommended. A special thank you to Emir Llanes who took very good care of us during our entire stay.

We just returned from a five day/four night stay at the Royal Solaris in Cabo. Great trip! Resort was just right for our family with two teens. We were there with two other families, and the timing was perfect for Cabo weather. We felt perfectly safe the entire time we were in Cabo including a trip into town to shop. The only downfall is the extremely high pressure timeshare sales pitch. If you have no intentions to buy, just say no upfront when you first get to the resort and avoid the 90 minute - that can turn into three hours - sales pitch. BTW - Ramon was the best ever down poolside! He made our stay so enjoyable!!

Room Tip: Ask for a mattress topper - beds are very hard.
