The staff at his hotel/resort made our vacation awesome. My wife left her purse in the taxi from the airport. She was managing our 2 kids, and her computer bag after about 7 hours of travel and forgot to take her purse when she left the cab. When she discovered it was missing about 5 minutes after being at the hotel, we told the concierge staff. The staff were extremely responsive. They asked me for my taxi receipt and followed up with taxi company on numerous phone calls until they tracked down the driver. About 1.5 hours later, they had connected with the driver and got confirmation that he will drive the purse back to the hotel. A 1/2 hour later the van and the driver that brought us from the airport had returned with the purse.

Since that first meeting, the staff were very well known to us. They helped us with coordinating activities and were focused on helping us have a great stay. All of the people working for the hotel appeared very engaged with making the guests' happy about their stay.

The food had some variety. However, we stayed for about 2 weeks; so, toward the end of our stay we began to get tired of some similar dishes. However, there were other restaurants in the town that we dined at to add some variety.

My family and I loved this vacation and we plan to go back to Royal Solaris in the near future.

Christmas trip with a large group of family. First time in Cabo
Our dates were December 19-28 and we booked an Ocean View room (2 adults, 9 year old & 2 year old).
Check-in: we did arrive early on our Westjet flight so knew that checking in before 3pm would be a long shot, and it was. The onyl annoying part was being told twice that it would be ready in one hour and it wasn't.....we checked in at 330pm.

Room: Nice side room with two beds. Bathroom was good with both sink and shower drains on the slow side. Fridge is stocked with 4 beers, some water and pop, but that's it. View of the ocean was great although the palm tree right in front and at eye level was somewhat annoying.

Pool area: Great size and nice area. We never had any issues ever with finding loungers by the pool. Getting the towels required cards that came with the room and was easy enough. They do have a kids section with smaller pool and water slides, but our kids just didn't want to be in that secluded area (other side of the hotel) and quite frankly, we as parents wanted to all be together with each other and group we were travelling with.

Beach: beautiful wide white sand beach out front and they had volleyball set up. There were ropes which was the line vendors could not cross, but quite frankly I never had any annoying vendor harrasing me - it was fine. Swimming in the ocean is not recommended.

Entertainment: A group of entertainers did a great job during the day at the pool. They were also the entertainment every night in the theatre - perhaps they are not broadway boudn, but they are actually pretty good.

Staff: Carlos at the pool area is great. Janet in the lobby bar made many people's day with their daily capuccinos. All other staff were good and made the stay pleasant.

Dining: Perhaps the only drawback with this property. Food is quite blah. Breakfast was ok....you can't go wrong with cereal, eggs, fruit, etc. Lucy is there making omellettes as well....it is the same thing every single day tho. During the day there is a decent hot snack shack by the pool and decent, but blah lunch at the pool side buffet restaurant. Dinner was the most disappointing - food was quite bland and the selection quite lacking. I just was not impressed with it at all even with my lowered expectations. We did try the Marco Polo restaurant and was disappointed. The dinner we had on Christmas day at the Mexican restaurant was the only bright spot.

I had read about the idea that time share/members got better seating, deal, etc.....quite frankly I did not see that at all. Nothing that I did or planned to do was affected by not being a member and there were no annoying sales pitches that I had to constantly decline.

Overall we had a great stay and the kids really enjoyed it. If you can get past having blah meals, then I would definately recommend this property for families - lots of fun and good staff.

Well once again was totally impressed with this all inclusive resort. I would recommend it to anyone. The staff is always so helpful Unfortunately my dear hubby past away recently, but he loved our last stay here and one of his wishes was for myself and a girlfriend to return to the Royal Solaris which I now call my most memorable place . The Entertainment team whom I call my dear friends now, are absolutely amazing and their shows are brilliant. I love you Frankie and Zoe <3 <3 and big hugs to Zanet the most pleasant barmaid! Victor is the best Host you could find during all your mealtime buffets. All the bellboys are always eager to help in anyway with your luggage. Our cleaning lady Mary made up our room so nice and inviting. Some of my most fondest memories have been made at this wonderful , pleasurable 2 week vacation spent at the Royal Solaris... Thank you all!.Til We meet again soon in 2014!!!

This was a family vacation with our son, his wife and our 12-year-old grandson. The Royal Solaris was their first stay in an all-inclusive and they loved it. We booked our trip through Expedia and feel that everything went smoothly from start to finish. The Royal Solaris staff is super friendly, our rooms were spacious and had wonderful views of the Sea of Cortez, The location in San Jose del Cabo is so much nicer than being in Cabo San Lucas - close to town but right on the beach. Food was very good and the entertainment team was delightful. We are already talking about returning!
We would like to mention our concierge Armando Flores, who took excellent care of us and helped us make reservations for events, gave us helpful information about happenings in the village, and arranged taxis, etc. for us. Also, our maid Angelina who kept our room clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms have a view of the Sea of Cortez. We did not have connecting rooms, but that feat...

We have stayed at a number of all inclusive hotels from the islands to east coast to west but the Royal Solaris is out favourite most relaxed vacation destination. The people at the front desk right to the entertainers make you feel like Royalty. Can't wait for the good times again this Sunday hope the weather is good :)

We arrived at the Royal Solaris on Christmas day for a 5 day stay. Check in was a little slow as the room wasn't ready and there were some computer issues, but once we were in our room, we had a great stay. Our room, #550, was great--large with a beautiful ocean view. We paid extra for the ocean view and for us, it was well worth it. We booked through Costco.com, which provided a well-organized, comprehensive package that included air, transfers and hotel.

The Royal Solaris is all-inclusive, which we felt was a great value and saved the time and hassle of figuring out what to do for every meal. The food, although plentiful, seemed fairly mediocre, though, so we did end out eating out a bit for variety. Even so, we felt it was still a good value, especially for families (although my husband would have given the hotel 3 stars based on the food.) We did not eat at any of the specialty restaurants and they may have been better. The hotel's staff was always friendly and helpful. The hotel's location can't be beat. It's on the beach (although not a swimming beach) and within walking distance of everything in San Jose del Cabo. We were very happy to be staying in San Jose del Cabo, taking day excursions to Cabo and La Paz. Cabo seemed very crowed and noisy compared to SJ and we were happy to return to our quiet end of the beach in the evenings. Although there were a few local vendors, including horses for rides on the beach, they stayed outside the hotel's roped in beach area and were not persistent even when we walked outside the hotel beach area. The hotel was also very kid-friendly and there were many families spending the Christmas holiday there.

One tip--bring lots of single dollar bills because even though the hotel is all-inclusive, you will want to tip the wait staff at every meal and they seem to expect it. With the minimum wage in Mexico at something like $5 per day and the prices high in this area, it seemed like the right thing to do as well. Another tip, walk past all the booths in the airport if you have transfers arranged and look for your travel company outside. We were stopped twice in the airport and directed to time share sales people (ubiquitous in the airport and town) after we said we were looking for a particular travel company. One of them even pretended to call our driver before launching into a time share sales speech.

The hotel people did try to sell us on listening to their time share, but when we said we weren't interested, they did not persist. Our days were generally spent out and about--we went snorkeling, took a boat ride around the arch, rode horses on the beach, took a zodiac ride to watch the whales and took a day trip to La Paz to snorkel with whale sharks. The whale shark trip was definitely a highlight, but it is seasonal (I think, December to March) so not there all the time.

All in all, we had a great time and would definitely return to both Cabo and the Royal Solaris.

Room Tip: Many of the rooms are ocean view and the views are great

I booked my vacation through cheapcarribean.com and their service was good. It's all inclusive air, hotel (Royal Solaris), food and drinks. Not only did they confirm your name within 24 hours to ensure no mistake on airline ticket, they will also try to answer your other questions regarding the hotel. We were able to obtain the toll free number to Royal Solaris and made arrangements with the hotel's travel agency to use the shared shuttle between airport and hotel. It's only US$10 one way per person. Very good deal, very clean and safe. In general, the stay at Royal Solaris was good. Food was okay but not spectacular. The view on the beach was great. We took the yellow bus outside of the hotel to the main square where there is church , gift shops and restaurants. It's about US$1 one way and took about 5 minutes. We took the yellow bus across the street (opposite direction) to return to our hotel. At other times, we took taxi by asking the front desk to make arrangements, the hotel took measure to write down taxi's license plate when you leave the hotel. Overall very good experience and very safe destination.
