Royal Solaris Los Cabos
Ranked #21 of 43 Hotels in San Jose del Cabo
Reviewed July 29, 2013

I had a great week at Royal Solaris. The staff were excellent and helpful. Jeff, at members services, was awesome. He was helpful but not pushy. I appreciated that greatly. I would definitely return. I enjoyed the theme nights. The adult pool was great as there were lots of families their at the same time I was. I loved the location of the resort and enjoyed the quick trip to downtown San Jose de Cabo.

We've been to Royal Solaris many times, and usually with a lot of family and friends. Everyone agrees that everything they offer is a great value to the customer. The people that work there really do all they can to make sure you have a great time. Elena Salas in reservations is the best at what she does. Mario Villavicencio goes above and beyond as a guest representative to make sure all of our needs are met. Very good food, and many choices. Great drinks, especially if being served by Liliana in the lobby bar. Very good entertainment by the sports and entertainment team!! The entire property is always very clean. Can't wait to go back again!!!

Once again Royal Solaris more than met our expectations, The new, nicely decorated, members bar was a great hit with us. A wonderful place to meet new friends as well as a popular gathering spot after dinner. The wine and tequila tastings where informative and very well done by Rico and the bar staff. We where always greeted with a smile by the new and old staff. Martin, Mateo, Roman, Angel and many others remember us from year to year. Rico and the Marco Polo staff were accommodating and pleasant.
The Cabo Adventure tour to ride the camels was great fun and well organized. Denis, our English speaking guide was funny and informative. The walking tour, camel ride, authentic Mexican lunch, tequila tasting and tortilla making made for a well rounded day.
Other things to note: The house wine was good, performers in shows and pool staff were very professional. The quiet pool and beach palapas were nice places to relax and we always meet visitors that we keep in contact with. Jonathan at member services was very helpful as well as Rosa getting us the room we wanted. We will defiantly be back.

Went with my parents and my father is blind, they took such GREAT care of my father and accommodated his special needs. Carlos was helpful with our room requests. The women restaurant manger, (forgot her name) was very nice and sat us each time when we walked in without reservations. My 5 year old loved the water slides and the kids club, and I got some rest and relaxation. The shows were great but no night life, was a little bored.

Room Tip: Don't get a room with the narrow balcony, no room for a chair let alone your legs.

Our family (several families) had a great time at the Royal Solaris over Spring Break. Our room locations were great, the food was really good, too! A lot of all inclusives serve the same thing over and over and this was not the case. The ceveche and other fresh veggies/fruits were delish. We enjoyed the themed parties @ night and bands/dancing in the hotel bar/entertainment area. We took advantage of getting out and walking and going into Cabo for a day of food and fun - really touristy. The pools were nice, but you had to reserve your chairs VERY early in the AM so you could sit around the pool and the only thing that could possibly be changed with regard to night time would be the use of a DJ vs. band. The band is fine once a week, but most of the time, people like to request songs and dance to stuff they know. The karaoki night was really fun, as well as the games/family involvement! The grounds are incredibly clean, the staff is very helpful and the pool guys are AMAZING!!! GREAT place!!

We love the Solaris at San Jose! Weather is near perfect. We experienced our first cloudy day in 9 years of visiting this time!! And low humidity. Food at restaurants and buffets is wonderful, plus the Members Only Premier Bar is a real plus. Although there are many activities off site, we spend most of our time at the quiet pool for adults only. Can't beat the all-inclusive food and drink. Staff is most gracious.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view. Doesn't need to be ocean front. But we don't spend much time in the ro...

The resort appears to be a combination of timeshare members and travel package members. We were not bothered by any timeshare sales persons. The rooms are adequate, nothing fancy. Very limited TV with English channels - mainly CNN International.

Food is average and repetitive. The breakfast buffet is mostly the same every day, but contains most items - omelet station, fruit, baked items. Must ask for bacon.
Snack bar is more extensive than other resorts I've been to in Mexico. Some days were excellent, other days the selection was limited. A la Carte restaurants (2) are nothing special, but the service was great. The dinner location seemed to change every night and it was confusing as to where the meal was being served. The special event nights were not well advertised.

The adult pool is quite small and has limited seating and shade. The family pool is large and clean but there is a lot of noise from the hourly "games" offered by the hotel staff. Poolside waiter service is nice and they keep the pool deck area clean.
Beware of the beach towel charges. They make you sign for towels and if you take the towels back to your room, the maid will remove them but you still have them signed out. The children's pool area is away from the main section and is quite extensive, but I've heard it is not great for very small kids.

The ocean surf is amazing to watch, but don't even think of entering the water here. Very strong riptides. The sand is quite deep making walking along the beach a real workout. Beach vendors are kept behind a roped area, so they cannot approach you while you're on the hotel beach, but they will stare at you all day long.

Wifi available for free in the lobby, but very slow.

Generally an OK resort if you can find a low-priced trip package.
