“Just returned from one week”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

Just returned from one week at the Royal Solaris.
Overall a great time at a fine resort. Good value for your money.
Upon arrival at airport please simply ignore all who approach you and walk straight thru to the outside doors of the airport where you will be greeted by your travel rep holding a sign such as Sunquest etc. Ignore all others or you will fall into the time share presentation trap!
Bus ride is 20 mins to the Royal Solaris--very modern and comfortable bus.
We had paid approx $200.00 for an ocean view upgrade but upon arrival were taken to a room that looked onto the side wall of the neighbouring hotel. If we leaned out over our balcony we got a bit of a view of the ocean! We immediately returned to the front desk and poitned out that we had paid for an upgrade to ocean view when we booked.
The clerk was very accomodating and moved us immediately to a ocean view room albeit not a direct view but rather a side view including the inner courtyard and pool.
As this was an anniversary trip I decided to pay the extra and upgrade once more to a jacuzzi ( hot tub ) room that is a the back of the "U" of the courtyard but does face the ocean head on as well as the entire courtyard. The room is the same but the balcony is much bigger and holds a jacuzzi tub ( not a hot tub as we know it ) for two.
We never used the tub as the separation between you and your neighbour next door is a mere 3 foot wall and even sitting out there for coffee in the morning you ended up enduring cigarette smoke from your neighbour --no privacy. The other rooms that are inner courtyard have a smaller balcony but complete privacey and in hindsight we should have been satisfied with that. This was our only disappointment however!!!!
As a tip---when reigistering ask for a room that ends in even numbers as they all face inwards to the courtyard and some ocean view. Odd number rooms face the side or the street which is not the best for one on vacation.
We were never approached by time share folk althought it is prevalent in this hotel.
Avoid any attempt re same unless you are truly interested in a time share as you will waste a good part of a day of your vacation that you paid for!
Food was very good throughout.
Drinks and drink service were great, even on the beach.
Although we had no kids with us the kids area for play is the best I have ever seen at any resort! Large and clean with numerous attractions and mini water slides etc.
I would recommend it if travelling with young ones.
Entertainment was very good----you eat at a table for 10 and after dinner the shows begin. Quite well done!
The town itself is remarkably clean , very friendly and offers a variety of shops and reastaurants etc,
Nice boulevards and side walks --felt very safe as we walked to and from the town itself.
We noticed on a day trip by public bus to Los Cabos that many of the nicer hotels along the "corridor" are out there on their own and if you wanted to go to either town it would be a bit of a journey. Check carefully your hotel location realtive to town.
On the beach the Royal Solaris was one of the few resorts that offered palapas for shade. If you are beach oriented then this is a key feature.
Staff were outstanding in every way!
overall --bang for the buck this would be hard to beat!
We will return!
Rick R

Room Tip: ask for a room ending in even number if you want to see the ocean and or the courtyard pool area.

We stayed at Royal Solaris for 5 days and traveled with 3 kids. First of the all the resort was very kid friendly, with an exclusive kids pool with slides and animals. The pools and the resort was itself extremely clean. The service was exceptional and there were great choices in terms of restaurants. One could get a little bored with the food, but breakfast and desserts stood out. The rooms were well appointed, we got a deluxe ocean-view with an extended balcony with a view of the pool and the ocean. Lots of activities by the pool side, and entertainment at nights made our stay memorable. Special mention for the lady who made omelets for breakfast!

Room Tip: Ask for the Deluxe Oceanview Room in Floor 3 which has an extended balcony.

We had a great time, but the cockroaches were a bit much. Maybe the lack of geckos and iguanas are the reason? We found the food quality inconsistent. My brother and his wife were better off ordering from room service.
The water park at kids' club was great for our 7 year old. She also enjoyed the horse back riding on the beach. My partner enjoyed dancing at the lobby bar with my brother and his wife.

We recently purchased a membership with Royal Solaris in March 2012, this was our second time to Royal Solaris Los Cabos and we had a great time.

The staff is wonderfull and always freindly and helpful, from the Entertainment Group (Becca, Jess, Zoe, Pancho, Danny Boy & Rachel) to the wait staff (Angel, Ramone & Paco - Marco Pollo) and the members staff (Alex Anaya & others in the member lounge).

The food was very good (especialy our Marco Pollo dinner), great variety and options.

We are looking forward to future trips to Royal Solaris Los Cabos and other Royal Solaris properties.

Just returned after one week vacation. We go to Mexico every 6 months and love Los Cabos and area for the great weather and short flight from Canada. First time at this resort and we were prepared to have a good time whatever the resort offered. We were very pleased. As an older couple we really took advantage of the adult quiet pool, but would have liked some music there, noise from the activity pool did not carry over to the quiet adult pool. The warm hot tub at the adult pool area was also enjoyable, especially as the pool water is excruciatingly cold, even colder than the sea. But you get used to it after a few minutes of swimming. We spent some days at the activity pool and it was also good, not too loud and so many choices of loungers, in shade, in sun, partial shade. Also the beach loungers were well situated and we used those too, but be aware of the early morning sand flies, no visible bites, just annoying itch. People do play the towel games. People were out at 06:30 a.m. picking their chairs and we had to get in the game too otherwise
the choicest spots were all taken. The resort was full, yet there was always enough of everything. Short line ups only at times, for food and drinks. Great staff and service was commendable. Be wary of room 237, we had it and did enjoy the lovely ocean view, but we did hear loud banging and mechanical/rolling wheel noises throughout the night and day, think it was due to the elevator close to that room. The view outweighed the noise so we stayed in that room. You will need to use some stairways even though there are elevators for most areas. We would return to bring our grandchildren as it was child friendly with all the fun areas, but as a couple we like to try new
resorts each trip. The food was OK, always fresh vegetables and fruits, some form of chicken, pork, beef, fish at dinner and very nice deserts, don't miss the ice-cream at the pool-side buffet hut at lunches only. The snack bar was handy and open all afternoon as well, for nachos and guac. fries were good and healthy options of veggies and salad. Loved the beverage service at all the pools and the lobby bar will serve good cappuccino's as well.

Room Tip: Any rooms closer to the beach end. Families would like the north side near the toddler pools, adults...

My husband and I went on vacation here with our three older kids (20, 19, and 13) and frankly I was worried that our 13 year old might feel a little left out with some of the activities. However, we were pleasantly surprised by how entertaining it could be. It was also very relaxing for us. Our kids loved it and they were always enjoying themselves. We would also like to mention that Alex Babio was friendly, helpful, and enjoyable. He went out of his way to accommodate us in many ways and we were truly grateful! Hopefully we will see you again Alex!! Our rooms as well as the gardens and pool area were well maintained. The food was fine but could have been better if it wasn't luke warm. We have vacationed different ways (cruises, condos, hotels) and when we go on vacation again, it will definitely be an all inclusive resort where we don't have to worry about anything.
