“Quaint hotel with old Mexico charm”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2014

El Delfin Blanco is the best for travelers who prefer the quiet charm of old Mexico.
I’ve been twice, and will definitely return. The small, no frills casitas are relaxing, clean, quiet, and safe. They are also affordable! My daughter and I paid $71 US per night for a two- bedroom casita. Osa, the Swedish owner, is a gracious host who goes out of her way to make her guests feel comfortable. We loved the Swedish pancake breakfast that she made for us!

There are a handful of local restaurants, including the Drunken Sailor, the Marina Inn, and Ali’s International Grill. All have excellent fish tacos, and great margaritas. For transportation, we rode the local busses to San Jose and Cabo. The beach, which is one block away, is quiet during the week, and has a nice local vibe on the weekend.

My daughter and I look forward to returning next year!

Our stay at El Delphin Blanco consisted of 2 days at the end of our 19-day vacation in Baja Sir. It was a great spot at the edge of the village. Views from on top of the 5 casitas were great. The sound of the waves at night from the Sea of Cortez were a lullaby. The hospitality of OSA WAS THAT OF A FRIEND> WE WERE LUCKY TO BER ABLE TO VISIT OSA A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE WE WERE TO STAY> WE HAD A WALK WITH HER AND THER DOGS Around the village, so when we arrived to stay we felt right at home with our surroundings. We at e at the Drunken Sailor (very good), and a few times at the bar/restaurant of the Marina Inn (very, very good). We especially enjoyed the live entertainment of the Marina Inn. Of the 19 days we stayed in Baja, the Marina Inn got the prize in our search for the best Margarita. Captain Tony's of Cabo San Lucas was a close second.

Another vacation to Sand Jose we would definitely stay longer here. Osa is a wealth of information, and is very interesting to talk to. The casitas are kept to perfection by or, Osa's assistant, who has always got a smile on her fact and is humming or singing a tune. We enjoyed the charcoal bbq in the outdoor kitchen. You must check out the pics of the El Delphin Blano to appreciate it. Hope to return again.

Really cute little place, very calm and relaxing. Perfect to take a break from everyday life. We stayed only for two night after a couple of days in Cabo San Lucas (full, loud, busy) and regretted that we haven't stayled longer here. We had a great dinner at "The drunken sailor" and good ice cream nearby. The rooms and amenities are simple, yes!, but not in a bad way - we enjoyed the easiness a lot.
And, Osa is a really nice, friendly host with good advise for places to eat or trips.

Room Tip: Casitas No. 1 has a nice patio and is more private than the other rooms, but Casitas No. 2 is fine...

I read through so many Tripadvisor reviews to find a safe, relaxing and clean place near the beach for our small family of 3. We decided on El Delfin Blanco because of a review where one family was able to let their toddler explore the grounds safely as well as the dad was able to do some bbq. This place is not for people looking for the Hyatt - it's very down to earth, bright, clean, eco-friendly (recycling sorting) and has all the essentials. One such essential was the graciousness, warmth and hospitality of the owner Osa and her worker, Flor.

The inn was a 15 minute bus ride from San Jose del Cabo, which was an adventure within itself. We were lucky to have been able to catch the Thursday Art Walk and enjoy a delicious meal at Mi Casa (get the Tamarind Pork). There was also the French Bakery delicious coffee and pastries we got to try in San Jose...Other highlights within travel distance by bus/walking include going to Flora's Farm (organic farm with restauarant), taking the boat to El Gonzo's private beachfront restaurant (toddler's dream come true), eating Ceviche at Drunken Sailor and walking the trail around the "Marina" and finding dolphins.

But the number one highlight of our trip? Going to the beach (5 min walk) every single morning and evening!!! On weekday mornings you might just find you have the entire beach to yourself. Nothing better than drinking coconut juice from a real coconut, listening to the waves and watching the crystalline water crash into cascades. Best trip ever.

I wholeheartedly agree with other reviewers' comments about access to everything, the authenticity of the experience, and how homey El Delphin is. My husband and I stayed for ten days and could have stayed much longer!

This is for the traveler who wants to get to know Mexico on its own terms. El Delphin Blanco is a sweet, inviting, down-to-Earth refuge from the huge resorts and housing developments stretching from Cabo San Lucas to San Jose del Cabo. The outdoor kitchen is lovely, if modestly equipped! Such a great alternative to eating out. The rooms are thoughtfully furnished and very cozy. We fell in love with ours. The housekeeping is impeccable.

Osa, the owner, is fantastic--very welcoming and a great resource. Incidentally, she has been working on behalf of the community for many of the two decades she's been in business and also rescues animals. She can tell you anything you want to know about local politics.

The local restaurant, The Drunken Sailor, was by FAR our favorite restaurant in the entire area.

Though there is a beach just five minutes walk from El Delphin, to experience the true, spectacular beauty of the Baja coastline, follow the coast road (a little tough to find from the village) east by car, away from all the resorts. THIS must be what Baja used to be like! The road is ROUGH. We rented a jeep, though we saw a few regular cars doing it. Take in the beauty of fields of unspoiled flora and fauna reaching down to the shore and soon you will stumble across public beaches complete with shade palapas that seem endless and have no one on them. The coastline around the tip of Baja can sometimes be dangerous for swimming, but we found many protected areas for a swim. The best part of our trip!

We would go back in a heartbeat.

My wife and I have established a tradition of escaping the Alaskan winter to enjoy a week in early December with Osa and her fantastic little ( emphasize the small) piece of total relaxation. If you are looking for a place from where you can walk to great but simple meals in a real Mexican Village and meet real people this is for you. We often prepare our own fish at the outdoor kitchen. The real advanage is that while you feel out in the country, you are only 20 minutes from the airport. If fishing is your passion, 3 minutes to the harbor is a plus. Last year I was always teasing Flora, the do everything lady, about the coconuts at the top of the palm. While she refused to climb the tree last year this year she had a coconut waiting for me. That kind of friendship is not going to be found at mega resort and is just typicial of the many kindnesses found here. Hope to see you here.

El Delfin Blanco felt like a home away from home. It is not to be missed. Away from the hideous resort hotels, El Delfin sits in the authentic town of La Playita. Access to everything is easy from El Delfin. My wife and I honey mooned in Baja Sur. We Surfed Zippers (about 10 minute drive) ate at the Drunken Sailor (several blocks from El Delfin) as well as Flora's Farm (5 minutes by car - a delicious farm to table restaurant), and enjoyed beach access which was only a block away. It is only an hour tops to Cerritos beach and Todos Santos and Thirty minutes to the Airport. I can't express enough how great the access to everything is without compromising an authentic Baja Sur cultural experience. On top of this, Osa is an amazing person and host. She and Flor put so much thought and care into the property as well as the guest experience. We stayed for three nights and then went north to surf. We had to return to fly out and decided to spend our last night with Osa and Flor. We hope to continue to return many times in the future. The bungalow slept like a dream and was most comfortable, the grounds were zen like and peaceful, and between Osa, Flor, and the guard cat, we were in great company and good hands. We are grateful to have made these new friends and to have found a place to soon return and share Swedish pancakes, coffee, and conversation. Much love Osa y Flor!

Room Tip: We really loved our center bungalow! Two beds and spacious, with a perfect evening breeze.
