“Great first trip to Mexico”

We just got home from the Barcelo yesterday. We travelled with another couple - both first time travelers to Mexico. We felt for the price we paid, this was a great choice. The resort felt very welcoming and safe from day one.

Our room was in the east tower facing the Royal Solaris on the second floor. We had a great view of the beautiful sunrises every morning. The room was average - no real issues. Higher floors are better for the view.

The grounds are very well kept. The larger pool with the swim up bar is hardly used as it's not heated however the activity pool was always hopping and the infinity always had people in it as well. We liked the patio on the east side or the beach as there wasn't a lot of traffic. Not once did we have trouble finding 4 chairs together. The sellers on the beach are not an issue and will generally not bother you if you tell them you're not interested. We actually rather enjoyed chatting with several of them.

The staff are great! No real issues there either. Karen always greeted us with a smile and works very hard! Marco, David and Francesco also made our stay pleasant and fun! Such happy people! There were more but these were a few that stood out for us. If you take the time to interact with them, they'll serve you well.

The food was average and always enough of a selection. If you go hungry here, you must be very picky! Unfortunately we only went to the Italian a la carte which we highly recommend. We experienced our first taste of sushi in the sky bar, which gives a beautiful view both day and night.

The evening entertainment is lacking. The cooler evenings and wind don't help this case either but the staff try and accommodate by offering blankets to wrap up in to watch the shows.

Our check in and check out were both very smooth.

This resort had a variety of people ranging from young couples with small children (not many children otherwise) all the way to elderly. Lots of Canadians when were there and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. If you're looking for a huge party scene, this is not the place to go. Much quieter than other resorts along the beach.

Overall, we were extremely satisfied with our stay. It was a great first trip to Los Cabos. Thank you to the staff at Barcelo for helping make it a great experience.

We just returned from this resort and received exceptional service. We have been to other resorts rated a 5 star and this resort exceeded our experience for service. Through out the resort we received amazing service especially from Ana L. In the main bar and Oliver in the snack and pool area. Check in was a bit slower than we expected and would have liked to see the main pool heated. Overall we had an relaxing and great customer experience and look forward to seeing you all again very soon...

We spent ten days at this resort from jan 6 to jan 16.Sure there are a few things that could be improved on but overall it was an awesome time.Anytime you have great weather, you meet great people, the people there are working hard and doing the best they can with what they are given to work with how can you complain.The grounds were very well kept, the food was good to very good and lots of it.The drinks were good.The rooms were clean and quite big and the location was great.Like i told my friend i met there if they improved everything they would bump it up a star and raise the price and people would still complain.When workers great you with a smile every morning at breakfast like Lucino and serve you drinks all day like Karen for for tips that at home you would be frowned at how can you not like it.To our friends we met there from Winnipeg and Florida if you read this may God bless you all.

Rooms were average. Double beds in 80% of rooms. Hotel under renovation and only a few hundred guests at best but repeated requests to upgrade we're met with a smile and sorry, try tomorrow. We gave up after 3 requests. The closet door was broken and my boyfriend had to fix it because the hotel didn't. The coffee machine had a green mouldy coffee filter in it and they didn't give us a new machine, just disposed of the garbage and wiped it. Gross. The beds were awful, so hard and uncomfortable. Would not go back to Barcelo Grand Faro.

The grounds were very nice. Rooms were great!
The food was horrible. The breakfast was a buffet that was average, the lunch was poor. Burgers sitting out with fries and other sides.
Dinner was at one of the restaurants where you could make a reservation. We did not make a reservation and they acted like they might not be able to get in. The place was almost empty. The fish I had was watery and the rest was nothing special.

Room Tip: Ask for corner room ocean front and you won't be disappointed

Just returned, and really enjoyed our stay. Clean and comfortable room with a great view. Food was excellent and the staff was great. A good value, can't think of anything to complain about.
Would recommend and look forward to returning.

Went for 10 days in the beginning of January. Our room was always cleaned early, we had enough facecloths and a restocked fridge every day. We were in building 2, on the second floor facing the Royal Solaris, but we could easily take pics of the sunrise over the Sea of Cortez from our balcony. Spoke to a few people who were facing the hotel construction next door, and they were never bothered by noise and had a beautiful view of the sea. We always found something we could eat and enjoy at the buffets, but we definitely loved the Italian a la carte restaurant the best. Delicious caesar salad, pasta and steaks! Stayed by the infinity pool most days and never had a problem finding a chair nearby. Like the majority of all inclusive resorts....if you want a pool chair in a particular spot, haul yourself out of bed and put a towel on the chair early in the morning. Never saw one chair by the infinity pool with a towel on it but no person. So I don't know why people were saying that chairs were taken with towels, but nobody sat in them all day. I think some people just like to complain. The vendors on the beach are not a problem at all. They are friendly and if you aren't interested in looking at their goods when you walk by them, just tell them that! We drank all kinds of drinks....Bailey's with coffee at breakfast, mojitos, blended tropical drinks, yummy red wine from Chile and lots more!! Never found the drinks to be watered down, at all??!! Took the 'Land's End Tour' to see the Arches in the glass bottom boat and had just enough time to do some shopping in the flea markets and enjoy lunch at the marina with free WiFi! It was actually kind of nice to have 10 days of no internet at the hotel (other than a couple of hours we paid $5 an hour for), because everyone in the family enjoyed some quality reading time instead of Facebooking!! I loved that this resort was small because you got to see some familiar faces every day. We had a very relaxing holiday and if I saw the Barcelo at a great price, I definitely would go back. Have a wonderful holiday!!
