My wife and I just returned from a 5 night stay in Los Cabos. We split our stays between the Hilton Los Cabos and the Marquis Los Cabos.

Los Cabos Overview:
We have been to many areas around the world and Los Cabo wins hands down. This place is gorgeous. I love the desert mountain scenery mixed with the beautiful waters and sandy beaches. The weather was perfect. San Jose is a great little down with awesome restaurants and good shopping. Cabo San Lucas was a very fun town. We enjoyed many different bars and nightclubs. Dinner at Mi Casa was very authentic and good.

Hilton Los Cabos:
The greeting when you arrive at the hotel is first class all the way. No front desk check in; just a complimentary margaritta and you are escorted to your room. We were upgraded to a suite on the 4th floor with a great view of the pool and ocean. The pool here is the pretiest I have ever seen. Service at the hotel with 4/5. It could be improved poolside. The drinks and food were really good.

Complaints:
The only real bad thing I have to say about the Hilton is that it needs to decide if it wants to be a romantic resort destination or a business conference resort. To me, these two just don't mix. When we were there we had to deal with a huge conference of Insurance saleman everywhere. They would rearrange the pool area, restaurants, bars, public areas, etc. It was really annoying. If there wasn't a conference there this hotel would be on another level.

Even with the conventions it was still beautiful and one of the few destinations that we will be back too.

*We rented a jeep from National in the Hilton. Very easy process. We drove to Todos Santos for the day. It was a great town and a very pretty drive. However, I would never do it again. The drive is so scary it isn't even funny. There were numerous times where we almost got fun off the 2 lane road. If you do get off the road you are done. There were so many crosses and flowers along this highway. I wouldn't be suprised if people die monthly on this road. Should 18 wheelers really be allowed on these roads; cmon!!

Overall a great trip. Please email me if you have any questions.

Thanks for all your help.

Spotless, elegant facility with an eager, friendly staff...but

So many corporate groups, either awards or "offsite" boondoggles, that the ambience is subdued, almost formal, as if personal behavior is being evaluted, which in many cases, it is. The Hilton is perfect for a romantic getaway, but not terribly conduicive to meeting and socilizing with others. The Hilton could use some "fun."

Restaurants were excellent, again, with friendly capable staff. Could use a little diversification, however. Pricey.

Los Cabos, in general, were friendly, scenic, and the Hilton a sparkling example. Everything first class. If quiet romance is what you want, it's dead solid perfect. When the Wizard of Oz is giving the tin man a heart, the lion his courage, make sure he provides some fun for the Hilton.

If you are looking for first class everthing, you will not be disappointed. Quiet, elegant and first class all the way.

The Hilton is definitly the most beautiful property along the transpeninsular strip. The rooms are nicely appointed and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

My only comment is the $$ you'll need to spend to eat at the hotel. I highly reccomend either going to the 'Mega' supermart and buying bottled water, milk and cereal for breakfast, snacks -or- eating cheaply in San Jose del Cabo. Story: The first morning I spent 50 dollars (for 2 people) on a buffet of eggs and bacon. Clearly shocking.

Drinks are moderatley priced. Great margaritas and bloody mary's.

Overall great property. Don't cheat yourself though - rent a car and see the countryside. Cabo is not Mexico, it's more LA than anything else.

My wife and I (30 somethings) spent the week of February 20th on the timeshare side of the Hilton, Casa Dorada. We were a little anxious as it was the first time we have been away together since having children 4 years ago - we wanted everything to be perfect. I contacted member services via email weeks before we arrived and Abril, the Casa Dorada point person took fantastic care of us. She arranged for flowers and champagne to be in the room upon arrival and throughout the week was extremely helpful. Despite a previous report we found the shuttle service fantastic and used it extensively. For $6 per person per day, you have unlimited transportation between the resort and Cabo and/or San Jose and back, albeit on their stated departure times. The shuttles were always on time and saved us a ton of cash on taxis.

The Hotel
I have to echo most of the feedback on this board. From the moment we arrived the service was exemplary. Welcome Margaritas, smiling and helpful attendants and a gorgeous location and facility. Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean and also looked down upon the members pool and swim up Sushi Bar. Very clean, very elegant and romantic.

The main infinity pool is where all the action is and truly is one of the coolest pools I have seen. Yes drinks and food are pricey, but certainly inline with other resorts I have stayed at of the same caliber. The beach is a little course, but we managed to walk around in our bare feet without too much discomfort. While we did not, we saw lots of people swimming throughout the week.

Restaurants
As far as the resort restaurants go we only ate poolside (awesome tacos and tostadas) and at The Hacienda Restaurant for breakfast which was very good and reasonably priced a la carte. Flamenco player on the outdoor patio overlooking the ocean was a nice touch of class.

Outside of the resort, we much preferred San Jose over Cabo, the latter being far too touristy, brimming with hawkers of timeshares, booze cruises etc. We did however have a great dinner at Mi Casa (the Mexican food version) - wicked Margheritas and a charming courtyard dining experience.

San Jose is still a quaint mexican town complete with church in the middle of the town square. We ate dinner at Damiano's (traditional mexican) which was wonderful and also at Mi Cochina's, a hip, sunken patio spot inside a boutique hotel just up from Daniano's. Both we would recommend. There were plenty others we wanted to try, but ran out of time.

A must for breakfast is the French Pastry shop across from Tequila's Restaurant. Fresh baguettes and to-die-for crepes made it our favourite morning spot. The Shooters rooftop bar is a great place to have a cold beer and listen to some music.

Road Trip
We had a blast renting a car and making the trip up the coast to Todos Santos. Be sure to stop at Art and Beer about 2/3 of the way there. Very charming spot with fresh seafood and 4 juice margheritas. They even give you a free roadie in a cup. Right before you get to Todos Santos, about km59 there is also a world class surfing spot.

Todos Santos, the town, is also very quaint. Check out Hotel California (claiming to be the real deal) for a drink or lunch and Cafe Sante Fe for dinner. Driving home in the dark is not recommended as the road is narrow, livestock common, and drivers speedy.

Golf
Played Cabo Real and it is beautiful, tough and expensive.

All in all, we had a wonderful time. I highly recommend the Hilton, we will certainly be back.

Location: 15-20 minute drive to Cabo San Lucas, you can rent a car at the airport and it's safe to drive and park in Cabo or San Jose.

Hotel ammenities and features: Absolutely awesome! Expensive restaurants and drinks, but you can work around that by stopping at the "Mega" grocery store on the way into town and buying a styrofoam cooler and drinks/food for your stay. This will offset the higher costs for Hilton food/drinks. Utilize happy hour at the lobby bar from 7-8PM, they have a drink special and free appetizer. Eat lunch at their deli, you can get a sandwich for 3 or 4 bucks. However one day you should just sit at the pool, order whatever drinks and food you'd like, and enjoy the good life! The sushi bar has good prices too, not too expensive and worth a visit at the dolphin pool.

Fishing: We caught 3 Marlin over 100 lbs each, and it was not even the best fishing season. Silverado Y Charlies in Cabo San Lucas (Captain Jose of the Cabo Marlin II) was our fishing outfitter.

Timeshare hounds (not at the Hilton): You will be hounded everywhere you go in Los Cabos to check out timeshares. This can actually be an OK experience and you can get cash, and discounts on fishing, ATV tours, etc. Just be ready for the big sales pitch and realize you don't have to buy anything. The timeshare presentation usually last 1 or 2 hours, but you get hundreds of dollars in discounts or cash if you work it right. It's all negotiable.

Bottom line: This hotel rocks, and you'll definitely be living it up if you choose to stay here.

What a beutiful hotel with considerate and helpful employees.
The views are picture postcard beutiful.
The rooms were nice and the hotel exceptionally clean.
We actually had TOO MANY towels in our room. What a treat.
Order breakfast and they set it up on your own personal balcony overlooking the sand and the ocean.
I travel alot but folks this is a nice place.
I golfed at Cabo Real across the highway from our hotel. It too was awesome.
It is definitely on our return plans.
