if you visit our cabo paradise and don't try real neighborhood-place tacos, you haven't done yourself justice. sounds silly, but it's true... and taqueria las guacamayas is one of the two best. don't expect anything fancy, and it's a little off the "tourist" track, back in a neighborhood just off the main highway near san jose del cabo, but we regularly drive there from CSL (about 30 km?) because their tacos al pastor are just that good. seriously. service is friendly and fast, and we've entertained a table for 10 people including all the margaritas and beer we could handle for around $15 usd per person. if you're an adventurous eater, try a quesadilla chilanga de huitlacoche, a fried quesadilla filled with the usual cheese, with black corn "mushroom" added, topped with crumbly aged cotija cheese and a bit of lettuce. try also the quesadilla de flor de calabaza (squash blossom). watch out for their yummy house made salsas, as they can be almost incendiary (but delicious) in heat. i truly love this place, and it's a "must visit" spot whenever we have guests from up north. in season, you'll have to wait for a table, but order a drink and enjoy the local conviviality out on the sidewalk... it's marvelous! highly recommended by a cabo local.
