We had the best time here- great margaritas, and the food was delicious. Prices were affordable. Great live music, and very close to the beach. Once you'be been here, you will want to come back again and again.

We did not stay at La Marina Inn, but we had a delicious lunch there one day. That grill is so amazingly seasoned, I think you could put anything on it and it would come out YUMMY. The atmosphere was nice. Their view is being obstructed by a new hotel though...bigger, who knows about better. I would love to go back and check out the hotel sometime.

We stayed here for a few nights while we fished with Gordo Banks Panga's and captain Chaimee on the killer 2. The place was perfect for us and all of us enjoyed our stay. Our hosts were excellant just beware of card shark George! LOL!
The pool was mucho chilly! even for us polar bears. The food was fantastic and hands down the best tortilla soup in the evening we have ever experienced. The entertainment was great with locals belting out great acoustics and songs. We had pool side rooms that we all enjoyed.

The surf fishing is very accessible out in front. The panga"s were a hundred yards away. El Ganzo"s night club which we enjoyed, was right in front, blocking the marina view. That never mattered though!
The hosts were awesome making us feel like long lost friends. Great place with a great vibe!

We came upon this place by happen stance. What a pleasant surprise! We aren't staying here but had one of the best lunches yet of our 5 week stay. I don't know how we came to miss this place! It is situated in the town of La Playita, in the shadow of the huge hotel across the street. George Anderson, the very personable owner, made a point of coming over to our table and introducing himself. What a character! He built the hotel and attached restaurant in the nineties and has been going strong ever since! They will gladly cook your catch for you, but offer a very tasty menu if you aren't a fisherman. Great service, strong Margaritas, and a lovely local vibe. Can't wait to come back for dinner! If we didn't own our own condo, the Inn looks like a splendid place to hang your hat.We will be back!

We didn't stay here but, thanks to the reviews on this page, we went here for dinner and had one of the most delicious fish dinners we have ever had. The wahoo steak was 2" thick, slowly grilled over coals to perfection. Each bite was heaven. The patio has a quaint ambiance and the waiter was very nice. We then walked to the other side of the marina and enjoyed the fascinating art displays of Leonora Carrington. We soon found ourselves, though, looking down at the saddest sight of our trip. A mother dolphin with her baby slowly swimming side by side in a small pen under constant artificial light. At least they aren't in a concrete pool but, still, what a miserable existence--for our entertainment--for these amazing, intelligent, social creatures who are meant to be wild and free, riding the waves, and traveling long distances. For anyone who hasn't yet seen the Academy Award winning film The Cove, it is highly recommended.

I saw this hotel on a prior fishing trip out of San Jose marina and thought I would check it out. I did and was charmed by the whole experience. The fish night we arrived and checked in, dropped our bags and headed to the bar/restaurant. A couple cold beers later we ordered a fish dinner from the chef. OMG, the three off us couldnt believe what was happening.... In a little restaurant, in a small hotel, we were having one of the best meals any of us had ever had in Mexico! Really, it was that good. The next day after fishing we brought back our dorado catch to see if this could happen again...crazy, it did! This was simply outstanding and really reasonable. I couldn't believe how great it was, but enough on that.

The hotel is run by Kelly, a sweet lady, who does a nice job helping you to feel at home. The other staff are very nice and make you also very comfortable. The rooms are nice, simple, but very reasonable for the cost. The marina is quite literally 50 feet away. A small pool rounds this out into a place I will certainly stay at again soon.

All in all, a great find off the beaten track!

Room Tip: Upstairs is nice.

This is a charming very unpretentious hotel that is only a few minutes walk to the marina so it is obviously a favorite with fishermen. They even have a large chest freezer to store your catch if you are planning taking it home. It is far from luxurious and lacking somethings like a television that gets more than 3 channels. But hey we were there for the fish not TV. And for the price who's complaining. For $8 a person they will prepare your fresh caught fish in any number of styles. I think we tried them all and they were all good. The plates included steamed veggies, salad, rice, tortillas, and chips and salsa. The beach is a quick walk from the beach if interested.
The sad thing is the monster hotel being built between La Marina and the marina. What once must have been a very pretty view is now a vast white wall.
On the downside, things can get pretty loud with a lot of hard drinking fishermen since the rooms are arranged around the pool area and the restaurant/bar. Fortunately the room air conditioning units were loud enough to counteract most of the noise.
I would definitely consider a return visit.
