My wife and I decided to stay here after reading "rave reviews" - the reasons for the raves remain a mystery. The plus - the grounds are nice (a small army of grounds people). The room was adequate. The negatives - This is a poorly managed facility. The staff are not trained, they are indifferent to guests and hotel policies are left up to individual whim. You will be left with the feeling that their primary objective is to wring every last dollar from your pocket. The cab fare from this hotel to any place in town is $50 so charge unreasonable prices -$6 for a bottle of water and forget the mini bar unless you are part of the federal bailout plan. The pool bar (food) is supposed to stay open until 6 pm - the first time we went down at 5 pm it was closed - the next day we confirmed that it would be open until 6 - closed at 5:10 pm! Poolside service depends on staffing - if there is a female working the bar forget service, all the guys hang around talking to the women. The restauraunts are dreadful - poor food quality, mediocre service - don't bother ordering a specific wine by the glass - they just bring you what they have open. Do not swim in the ocean (very bad undertow) - one guest nearly drowned while we were there & we were told that several people had drowned recently. You might think the hotel would make it a point of informing guests - wrong. We have stayed in 3 star hotels and gotten good value and we have stayed in $1000/night hotels and gotten good value - this hotel is a poor value - they need a change of management.

My husband and I had booked for a 6 day stay at the Casa Del Mar, after hearing rave reviews. I don't think any of these people stayed at the same hotel or had the same service we did. It was horrible. We stayed the minimum of 2 days to get our deposit and head back to the Hilton. I work for an airline and stay at 5 star hotels quite frequently, the Casa Del Mar does not compete with any 5 star hotel/resort I've been to. It's not the hotel itself that isn't up to standards......the rooms are adequate, and the grounds are decent. It's the staff that allows this to "resort" to fall to a 2 star level. Our "ocean view" room consisted of about 1 s.f. of ocean view, the rest was obstructed by overgrown palm trees. Our one night of dining in the hotel restaraunt was horrible. We had chipped dinner plates and glasses, bugs everywhere on the patio so we had to move inside, the wrong entrees and drinks brought to us and total lack of service. May I add we were one of TWO parties dining at the time. All of this for a hundred dollar meal of two pasta dishes which were average at best and 2 horribly made drinks.
My husband I then tried to get online in the business center to get back to the Hilton, and the front desk attendant told us there was no was to convert the internet to English. So unless we could read Spanish, she couldn't help us! Completely absurd. We figured it out ourselves, and made reservations at the Hilton ASAP. The next day (since we were stuck here) we went down to the pool in mid-afternoon. There were no towels, no pool waitstaff, and no bartenders to be found anywhere. You had to walk down to the beach bar to get a towel and even then there was only one bartender who seemed put out to have to get anything for anyone. I later noticed as walking up to our room at least 4 staff sitting inside in the hotel bar watching T.V. Very unprofessional.
Overall, our stay there was just a countdown to get back to the Hilton. Which is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at! Don't waste your money at this resort which is VERY over-rated. Never again.

Hotel was beautiful, employees very helpful, rooms very clean, and, contrary to other reviewers, we thought the food was excellent at the hotel...of course it was expensive, but no more than anywhere else in Cabo...would go there again....July being the off season, we felt we had the place to ourselves...we are older...58 and 60....

This was one of the hotels in the American Express Platinum Card recommendations. We stayed there for two nights after three nights at the Esperanza. The hotel was nice though the concierge was pretty much useless as they didn't really have in town restaurant reservations and were off on all Taxi estimates. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were very clean. Dinner was overpriced, but that is everywhere in Cabo so you just have to deal with it.

This is a great resort. Our room was on the ground floor facing the ocean. You could walk out the sliding glass door, and sit on the private patio, looking right at the beach. The rooms were wonderful, and the staff very friendly, and helpful.

Stayed at Casa Del Mar for 4 nights while attending my son's destination wedding there. It is a first class experience from the time you arrive until you leave. It is located on the corridor away from downtown, but about a 15 min cab ride.

The beach is beautiful, unspoiled and uncrowded (no vendors here). They have 2 pools and 2 poolside cafe/bars. The staff knew us by name and went out of their way to make us happy.

Everyone there is so polite and the wedding planner, Claudia, is the best I have seen. The wedding was on the beach & they have a great open air reception area with a thatched roof and lots of ambiance.

There was a large group of us and everyone was happy and would return. Feel free to contact me with questions.

This was my third stay at Casa del Mar, this time March 23-29. I accidentally chose spring break week, and was a bit concerned, but Spring Break did not affect the peace and quiet of this place at all. No crowds of drunk teenagers to be seen within miles of this oasis. First class experience, rooms, service, beach, pools and dining.

They make it easy to keep Mexico first on my list of 'must get back to' places.

Thank you again!
