Zoetry Casa del Mar is an exquisite, boutique hotel set on a beautiful landscape where the desert truly does meet the ocean. It is a small hotel only in the number of rooms that it has; the actual property is large and this gives you the feeling of having the whole place to yourself! It is a quiet resort which is what we look for; a place where you can relax and read books and eat and drink and not worry about a thing!
Upon arrival at Cabo Airport, make sure that you ignore all of the timeshare salesman that are inside the airport. Walk straight outside and find the people who are taking care of your transport. We booked through Delta Dreams Vacations and they were very affordable and very nice to deal with. The trip took about 35 minutes and we had to drop off one other couple first.
Once at the hotel, we were offered cold towels and delicious tropical iced teas. We were then driven by golf cart to our room.
We actually saw a couple of different rooms and they are all spacious. A big thing for us while on beach vacations is the A/C and these ones work perfectly! The closets are huge with plenty of space to literally move in if that's what you want! The rooms all offer beautiful views of the ocean and landscape. We ended up in a one bedroom luxury suite and it was beautiful, with a huge separate living area, dining room table, an infinity edge Jacuzzi, and a complete kitchen with stove, oven, fridge, etc. The only thing they don't stock in the kitchen is plate ware and glassware but just press that magic number 9 on your phone and they will bring you whatever you need..
For breakfast there is a choice of eating in the main building or having room service. We opted for room service everyday so I can't comment on the other. The room service was amazing. We tried everything and ended up like the pancakes the best, but the menu was limited as this is a "wellness" resort and the room service menu was all "wellness" items. Don't worry! Just order whatever you're thinking of and they will bring it to you. No need to stick just to the menu!
Lunch has two options, the restaurant by the beach and the one by the pool. The food at both was really good. There are a ton of options on both menus so you really can't get bored with lunch. The fish tacos were of particular note, as were the quesadillas and don't leave Zoetry without trying the sea bass filet and also the sea bass ceviche. They were both to die for. We couldn't get over how delicious all of this food was.
Dinner you have the option of eating on the beach around a beautiful fire or the sit down restaurant. Remember, to eat at the sit down men must have long pants. Annoying, but its just their rule. I think I saw a young man change into jeans when they told him so I guess jeans are okay.
The dinner at the beach is a little more extravagant in terms of food, there are many big steaks to choose from and they come with potatoes. We didn't like eating down there because it was too windy and you couldn't see your food. The setting is amazingly romantic though so I think it is to each their own. The portions are larger, as well.
The inside dinner is a fairly limited menu. We kept returning to the duck confit (amazing), the goat cheese salad, and the angus filet with tempura mushrooms. Again if you want something that isn't on the menu (ribeye? mexican fiesta plate?) just ask. Don't be put off by the limited menu, think of all the things they offer all day all over the resort and just ask for it.
There is also 24 hour room service options, we often snacked on the shrimp quesadillas from room service in the afternoon.
Another LARGE part of any vacation right?!? There are three bars, the beach, the pool, and then a beautiful one inside that is open from 4-?? The beach/pool bars start service around 10 am and that is when they both start to fill up. These guys are professional mixologists and make wonderful cocktails; there wasn't anything we ordered that they didn't know how to make. We started everyday with champagne and they offer you a fresh bottle in your room every day. You also get a welcome bottle of jose cuervo gold, and anything else that you might want just make sure to press 9 on your phone and request. They took care of all of our requests to a T.
The waves and undertow are just to large to go swimming in the ocean. We saw one guy attempt it in the 7 days we were there. This is not the place to go if you want to swim in the ocean. Actually Cabo isn't really the place to go if you want to swim in the ocean. They do offer amazing views though, and the beach is pristinely maintained so that you can walk down to the water. There are also horses that go up and down the beach all day everyday. I wish I would have packed shorts so I could do that but I only had dresses and that wouldn't have worked.
These are the true beauty of Zoetry. There are four different pools. There are probably 40 chairs (sometimes more) at each pool. There are only 60 rooms. This means that you can always find a chair (there is NO early morning race to chairs at Zoetry) and that you can usually find a chair somewhere private. Two of the pools are infinity edge and they all have Jacuzzis near them. Granted, none of the Jacuzzis are very hot. But the pools are the best part of Zoetry, with swim up bars at two of them.
Tipping is not expected but is appreciated. Many people tipped nothing and were still met with unparalleled service. We tipped around $40/day, $5 for breakfast and lunch and $10 for dinner and then mostly ones. We brought $150 in ones. The guys do appreciate it!
If you are looking for a party resort then Zoetry is not for you. If you are looking for a quiet paradise with amazing food and drinks and breathtaking views then Zoetry is going to be the spot.
We would especially like to thank Maida, she was the front desk/general manager while we were there. She went above and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of. She truly was so nice to us and she will be the reason that we are going to be back real soon. The other people who were so helpful I may not remember their names; it’s hard to have just one favorite as every single person who worked there was so nice and gave amazing service always with a smile.
Thank you Zoetry our vacation was awesome!!!!
