“Read reviews bedore booking; here right now.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013

Read a ton of reviews before booking. On day two of our stay and pleased. Room is spotless, the only reason it's not a 5 is the bathroom is small, dark and a bit tired but perfectly adequate. Who spends time in the room anyhow? The beds are firm but not uncomfortable. We are in the 6000 on the third floor and our room has a great view.

I was worried about the food as I had read a bunch of reviews. It's been great so far but we have eaten mostly the Mexican dishes. Really no different than the 5 stars we've stayed at - maybe a little less selection. The grounds are spotless and the beach is beautiful. The staff has been nothing but gracious.

This is not a five star hotel but you couldn't tell by the staff, etc. however it's not a party hotel. Location is super close to town (15 min walk) and there's a huge mega mart close by. Wifi is everywhere - even on the beach.

If you're looking for value so you can spend money on excursions, shopping, etc. this is a great choice as you don't feel tied to the resort, having to over eat and drink to get ur $$ worth.

Would definitely recommend.

I like our odds with a so far so good kj604! I'm happy you're having a good time. It's always good to do your homework before you go on vacation, but the tricky thing is that you have to take others' opinions with a grain of salt. The best way is to experience it yourself, those are my two cents. If there's anything you need for the remainder of your stay, feel free to contact us. We'd love to say hi!

Don't go to a 3.5 star expecting 5 star food and entertainment. You get what you pay for, and what you get here is a great deal!
I think it's the best situated property in the area, being next to the estuary. It makes for a lovely nature experience and the walk along it's beach shore leading towards the new marina is so peaceful. Not like all the other properties up the strip jammed together and crowds on the beach.
No you can't really swim directly in front of the hotel but a few minutes walk will take you to places with no sand churning and a rip tide going back out. It's easy to recognize. Also the 1/2 hour beachfront stroll to the marina leads to a calmed swimming bay as part of the new Puerto Los Cabos Marina development. Charlie Sheen has built a new hotel called El Ganzo, across the marina so a bit far to walk. You can continue along this side though and the pathway leads to the dolphin pools at Dolphin Discovery. there is a little restaurant there for a refreshment before heading back.
Anyway, back to the hotel. Beautiful grounds, spotlessly maintained, awesome choice of pools and beachfront palapas. Don't expect table service on the beach, this is 3.5 star. Get off your chair and get a burger at the beach bar or go inside and get some lunch from the buffet. Please remember to put your shoes and shirt on when going inside. A few hairy beasts managed to make it into the dining room with sandy feet and ..well you get the picture. I think the hotel should put a picture sign at the pool side entrance so it's right in peoples faces..no shirt, no shoes , no food. Common sense does not prevail with some vacationers, like the women sitting in the family pool smoking while their ashes dropped into the water. They were tongue when I called them on it.
The rooms are great- a safe, coffee maker, fridge with pop and water. And yes a firm bed thank goodness. Some like soft squishy beds but these were perfect. The house maids are lovely and I got to practice a little of my Spanish with them. Leaving a note and a small tip each day asking for extra bottles of water does work great. We never ran out.
Showers were huge and tons of hot water and great pressure.
As for the food it was fine. I did not go expecting 5 star food. I am a foodie so I set my expectations as such. Breakfast was great. Anything you want or can think of. Eat some fruit and cottage cheese, go for a walk and go back and have an eggs or what have you after. Breakfast served from 7am to 11. Lunches for some reason are better than the dinners as some reviewers have posted. Always lots of fresh veggies, salads, meats. The same at dinner but just not as good. If you see some batter fried fish fillets grab them, they were my favorite on a Tuesday lunch. No matter what the meal though the pieces of chicken could always be counted on as well as some type of roast or seasoned potatoes.
We went out for dinner once during our week stay and if we were to go again we would plan on a few more dinners out. What made the ones at the resort on Thursday through Sunday good was the show. Vegas night was the funniest with happenings with guests on stage and a few gaming tables set up. All the dancers do a great job and the costumes are top notch. Nice way to pass an hour or so.
As for dinner in town there are 3 places at the first little mall , within a 15 minute walk of the hotel. turn left out the front then right at the first street. Just up the road on the left. Best to cross at the first right as the cars seemed to whip up this road.
Further in town another 10 minutes or 70p from hotel by taxi is the town square with lots in the area
So to sum up the trip, our first all inclusive (we usually rent a house or condo) was cheap and cheerful. Great location, lovely hotel, Raul and all the staff were so nice. There are not a ton of timeshare people pestering in the lobby (don't know what those reviews were about).
For the price we paid it happily covered air and hotel and we could have gone out for dinner every night. Enjoy and tip when you can . Clearing breakfast dishes, making an omlete , serving wine at dinner. Remember most of the staff will never see the outside of their country and work very hard, every minute they are there. And thanks to management for the bubbly in our room the first night..very thoughtful indeed.
An people please remember,Just because you are on vacation does not mean leave your manners at home and play the fool and dress like one..

I like your no-nonsense approach thejet. For example, as stated we're definitely not party central. However our Entertainment team does their very best to make sure our guests have a good time during dinner with the shows. Vegas night has been very popular this year because it's a fun way to spend some time during the evenings. And we do have the no shoes, no shirt, no service signs at the entrance of the restaurants, apparently we need bigger ones!

We booked this hotel expecting a nice stay for our family and ended up disappointed. We booked adjoining rooms and even called the hotel twice before we left to make sure as we have young kids and didn't want to be down the hall from them. Of course, when we arrived, there was nothing noted on our reservation and they didn't have them for us (I suspect the have very few adjoining rooms, if any).

There was a bunch of other issues that, while small, added up to a big disappointment: bad food (which we knew before coming) but twice in one meal two of our kids found hairs in their food, no towels in our room, probably enough chairs for about half the people at the resort, no activities desk, when we got tennis raquets, there were two staff "guarding" the equipment and wouldn't let anyone on the court without proper footwear, long waits for drinks, long line ups for food as there are very few places to eat, etc.

I guess overall the place had kind of a depressing feel to it-not what you want from your resort. It is a budget resort and you are constantly being reminded of it. We have travelled a lot and were expecting low end, but this is about a 2 1/2 star in my opinion.

We switched to he Royal Solaris and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our stay. Well worth the few extra dollars.

Everyone has a right to change their mind calagirl, I just hope you would've given us an opportunity to try to correct any issues that arose during your stay. As I've expressed before, it's difficult solving the little things that add up to a not so great stay when the guest is already back home from their vacation. We are always available to our clients and if there's anything that you don't like about your stay you can reach out to us and we'll be happy to amend what we can. If we cannot oblige then it's one more area we start focusing on to improve our guests' experience. We hope you can give us a second chance in the future.

My boyrfriend and I just got back from one week at this resort. We are both 26 but not much of the partying type which is why we chose San Jose Del Cabo rather than Cabo san Lucas. This hotel is only about 25 minutes to the airport, 15 minute walk to a groccery store and bus stop, 10 minute walk to food and shops and has a beautiful estuary right next to it.The location is perfect!

Check in was a little slow, as expected, its this way at most vacation spots. There always seemed to be a line up at the front desk. Never enough people working. I felt bad for the one guy who seemed a little overworked. Check in is 3pm and check out is 1pm so try and avoid needing assistance during those times haha. The shuttle they refer to that takes you to cabo is very expensive and the times are not very good. Take the bus. Public bus or Suberbus, either way it picks you up on the street in front of the Mega store but on the opposite side of the mega. Its 3 PESOS. We kept paying $3 USD. Tell them where you want to go and theyll take you. Just pay attention to the driver because sometimes its hard to hear where you are.

The beach is beautiful, you cant swim however, you can go in and cool off as long as you dont go in to far. There is not many vendors bugging you and the beach isnt busy because your the last hotel on the beach. The walk is beautiful and if you want to rent jet skiis theres a guy at the next hotel. $55 for half hour per couple. The pools are all well kept and the adult pool is heated. Its better to swim in the pools in the later half of the day when they've had a chance to warm up from the sun. The lounge chairs are decent but it can be tricky to find an open one after 9am. Its very annoying that people come out early and drop off there towels and dont return for hours if even at all. We saw this frequently and thought it was pretty rude. We did always manage to find chairs though, just sometimes not at the pool we desired to be at. The beach always had lots of space ;)

The rooms were nice. Not a 5 star room but a solid 4 star. We were in the 700 block. If your early risers the rooms closer to the lobby would be good but we kept thinking it was so loud there at night and in the morning that youd never be able to sleep in. The 700, 600, 500 block would be the best location. Close to the family pool, buffet and beach. We had a king room. The shower had good pressure, everything was clean and we were smart and asked to be on the third floor so the noise of other floors wouldnt bother us. The hallways can be pretty loud but we slept through most noise. The balconys are small but nice to have. The beds are hard, which we are not used to but we slept great! Sheets were very soft and there was a variety of pillow sizes on the bed. Mini fridge had pop and water. Tip the housekeeping well and they will leave extra water and pretty towel art on your bed. To tip we left the money on the pillow. We did hear some other guests saying they had left a few dollars out by accident and it was gone but i would assume the housekeeper thought it was a tip. Just to be safe though, keep all your valuables in the safe. Also the little card you put on the door to say come in or not means nothing. They knock anyways and if you dont answer they come in. We found this upsetting. Since we just wanted to sleep or have our room left alone. Always put the inside lock on if you dont want to be walked in on. haha

The food was good. My boyrfriend is vegan (no meat or dairy products) and we both always found somthing to eat. Breakfast was the best meal of the day, which is important since you dont want to go far in search of food in the morning. Pancakes, waffles, french toast, fruit, potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, toast, omelets, cereal and oatmeal...you name it, they had it! Lunch was delcious from the cantina, especially the cheeseburgers and nachos. The guac is to runny for my liking but everything else was good. Lunch at the buffet was pretty basic. Nothing special. Still good though and there was always a healthy option. Dinner was served outside. Its cool at night but by no means are you going to freeze, bring a sweater and wear pants and youll be fine. The ocean breeze was nice. Find a table before you fill your plate because it can be a bit of a search. The food was hot and had it not been that my boyfriend is vegan we would have been okay to eat there but they really didnt have much alternative options for dinner. We expected that and went out for dinenr alot and enjoyed the many restaurants in town. It was a great experience. Plus the nightlife is not very good at this resort so it added a little excitment to our nights to be out. Dinner was basic, salad options, potatoes, rice, a soup, meat and then deserts. Coffee and teas as well. You will not go hungry but do consider venturing out if you want authentic mexican food. This resort really caters to canadian and american ideas of dinner which is unfortunate. They should have more mexican meal options!

Some tips...take a walk through the estuary, its beautiful. Do the room service, its worth the 50 pesos, eat alot of cheeseburgers from the cantina...mmm, get your drinks before dinner so you can save yourself a table, bring pants and long sleeves because its cool and windy at night, bring alot of $1 to tip and freshen up on your spanish, it helps.

If your laid back and are just looking for a relaxing atmosphere this place is great. Dont expecta 5 star becase you'll be disappointed. You get what you pay for and here you get a great value for the price. (we paid $940 incl tax for both of us for 6 nights!! at hight season)The other resorts in this area are quiet a bit more money but we dont go on vacation to stay in our room and eat buffet food. We like to expereince the local area. Go out and make the best of this perfect location. Enjoy the wonderful service! You wont be disappointed. We would return to this resort, even with the few food issues. Thanks for the wonderful vacation!

suggestions for the hotel.... more mexican food, vegatarian options, more lounge chairs, more staff at the front desk and fix the broken hammocks on the beach. :)

Room Tip: 700 block is quiet but close to the pool, buffet and beach. 100 block is close to the adult pool and...

I'm glad you had a nice vacay with your boyfriend Britt D! You're savvy travelers and know what you like and what you don't like, and that's always a plus. We've been trying to implement more Mexican food in all services, being it perfecting the chilaquiles recipe for the mornings (the green ones are to die for!), adding more scrumptious fillings for the taco stand (love those tacos!), and during the evenings trying to put the Mexican touch to all of our theme nights. And we're working with the vegetarian dishes too! For anyone who doesn't find an option, you just need to ask and we'll whip one up for you!

This hotel was by far one of the most enjoyable hotels I have stayed at. We will definitely go back over and over again. We met so many nice people and all the staff is exceptional. Hotel is very clean as well as the grounds. They are meticulously cared for. We really have no complaints. Alma was our bartender of choice as she made our trip very enjoyable (if you know what I mean):-) Raul at the front desk made our trip also very nice. It was my husbands birthday and he made sure we were taken care of. We really are looking forward to returning. Thanks everyone.

You put a smile on my face with your review Diane C! Thank you for your very kind words about our staff. Very often, I'm proud to say, we're able to help some of our guests celebrate their special occassions (weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, etc.), and it's our pleasure to assist them and making sure they have a great time on these twice as special days (because first of all, you're on vacation and that's already awesome!). Maybe for next time you can come around your birthday!

An Extended Stay!!

We have just returned from a four week vacation at the Holiday Inn. This was our 6th stay at this resort – it is our home away from home. As we have said before, it is not a five star nor does it pretend to be. It is a comfortable, middle-class resort with a great setting. The majority of the guests are either Canadian or Mexican.

We could not believe how quickly the time went – we went for the longer period of time as we just wanted to relax and enjoy the sun and visit with our friends. We had great chats with a lot of special people – drank a few glasses of wine!! How lucky are we??!!

On our previous visits we stayed on the top floor. This time we had a lanai room which we enjoyed and it was great not to have to climb the stairs. It was also great at times to just sit and watch the world go by from a quiet location.

We never worry about food – they have more food and selection than we have in our fridge at home. Fruit for breakfast – maybe share an omlette – their eggs are amazing and you don’t even have to prepare it yourself. There are always great salad fixings for lunch – some soup – you get the picture – you are never going to starve.

Many people have commented about it being too cold to eat outside – can you eat outside at home? Wear a jacket and a glass or two of red wine will definitely get your blood flowing. The beautiful setting is worth it. We never load up our plates – we will have a bowl of soup and then go back for another serving of something that catches our eye and eat it before it gets cold. Our advice would be to bring a great plastic glass for your wine if you are a wine drinker. We had many people asking why they could not have glasses like ours.

A special thank you to Raul (front desk manager) for taking care of us as usual and to Patricia Chapman (GM) and her husband Pepe and Santiago (AGM) for helping to make our vacation so special.

We would like to say see you next time and thanks so much to all the staff for making our vacation so special as usual. We miss you!! Our wish for all of you all is that you only have very special guests that respect and appreciate you as much as we do – sending a hug to you all until we can deliver one in person - take care of each other.

My wife and I stayed at the all-inclusive Holiday Inn Resort in mid-February. We had made reservations for an oceanfront 3rd floor balcony but then upgraded to the first floor oceanfront lanai with hammock because we had heard the balcony rooms have small balconies (which upon arrival we noticed that they were small balconies and that you had to stand up to view anything). So we were glad we paid the extra for the upgrade. The room was nice, bed was hard, there was a step up to go out on the lanai that blended into the tile floor, so a few stubbed toes later, we learned to step up or down. The food was just average, we got tired of it by the end of the week but we did like that they had a themed dinner every night, so a little bit of a variety. The 3 pools were okay, just warmed by the sun, so in February it was a little cool when you first got in but just fine after that, loved the swim up bars. The beautiful beach was great to walk along but not swim in, heavy undertows. We were there during whale season and saw lots of them right from our room and the hotel. I would go back again, the price is right, the grounds are kept up well, and the staff is great. Just make sure that when you check into to the hotel, to walk past the "timeshare people" wanting to plan your activities, just tell the bellman to take you to your room por favor.

Room Tip: We stayed in Building 1 which was one of the older buidlings but still nice, I think next time we go...

You made the right choice fishman620! The Lanai rooms are beautiful and definitely worth it. I'm sorry for the stubbed toes! We're a rather large property spreading out through a big terrain. We have lots of steps all over the Hotel and even though they're all signaled, it sometimes feels like an Escher painting! Our pools have central heating and solar heating, but I think the best way to shake off after you dive in and on your way to the pool bar!
