“Extremely Disappointing....”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

This place was a serious disappointment... We had multiple issues during our week stay.

First: Our room had a serious ant issue. They worked on it a couple of times and were never able to get them under control.

Second: Our outdoor Jacuzzi was even close to the right temperature. After leaving the Jacuzzi on for almost an hour it finally warmed up. The second time we tried to use it we couldn't get the water to warm up ever. Finally we just gave up.

Third: Hot Water in general was a HUGE problem. If you wanted to take a shower you literally had to start the shower 5-10 minutes in advance and plan on a good 15 minutes for hot water in the kitchen. It took so long that we called and had maintenance look at it and they said that's "normal"...

Fourth: Water period... One morning during our stay we lost all water hot and cold. It was extremely frustrating since my wife was in the shower at the time and had conditioner still in her hair plus soap all over... Absolutely not what you expect at a resort... They were able to restore the water after about 10 minutes but it simply shouldn't have happened...

Overall Coral Baja was a real buzzkill on what should have been a stress free no hassles experience for my wife and I.

Worldmark needs to invest some time and money back into the resorts and vacation experience people are supposed to feel if they want to retain the owners. This place was a let down and we won't be returning to Cabo using Worldmark that's for sure.

We are so sorry to hear that you had to spend even a minute of your time dealing with pest control and water supply issues during your visit. We know that when you travel to our resorts you expect the best in quality. We will do our best to address these concerns to prevent any similar issues from happening in the future. Thank you for taking the time to provide us this information.

Wonderful week at this impressive resort. We've stayed in a half-dozen timeshares in Los Cabos, and this is now a favorite. Our unit in Building 1 faced the sea and pool and had a large bedroom and well-equipped kitchen--including all the coffee we wanted, plus spices, dishwasher soap and laundry soap for the in-room washer. Staff members were delightful and quick to respond. Our refrigerator wasn't working properly and the maintenance guy was there immediately on a Sunday, worked on it for a couple of hours and then replaced the whole fridge. The Mega grocery is an easy walk up the road, and San Jose (which we prefer over San Lucas) was a $7 cab ride. No timeshare hassle, uncrowded, easy to swim laps in the pool, good food on site and at nearby restaurants. Only complaint--the A/C unit on balcony blew hot hot air and was very noisy. Otherwise, a fabulous experience.

Room Tip: Building 1 has best ocean views from higher floors. We enjoyed #408.

This place is great. Hands down it is one of the nicest WM resorts I have been to. Buildings 1 & 3 all have views of the ocean. This place is top notch and well cared for. It actually is managed contractually from a company in Mexico and does not have WM employees other than sales staff. The staff here is of the best you can get and this place shows it. You do not need a rental car as others have said to stay here. It is just a short walk to the bus stop into Cabo and/or San Jose del Cabo. There are many fine resteruants around this area. All you have to do is look them up on trip advisor. It is probably not a resort for the young looking to hook up with others their own age. More like a resort for couples and families.

Room Tip: Any room in building 1 or 3 face the ocean. All are good rooms.

The pool area on the beach is beautiful. The amenities were great. The rooms were more than average - - the kitchen even had spices. The activities were fun for the whole family. The location from Los Cabos not that bad. First place in Cabo where we were not bombarded by all the timeshare sales hounds.

I visited Worldmark Coral Baja last week and its a great place to stay and the staff was great as well. Now I have a couple of problems first you must have a rental car because the nightlife is downtown Cabo San Lucas which is a 15 min drive or $50 cab ride . Second limited restaurant choices . And 3rd an the most important no swimmable beaches on the resort as a matter of fact not within a quarter mile of resort. Over all good place to stay but in my opinion downtown Cabo San Lucas is the place to be nightlife, shopping, fishing ,parasailing, canoeing, surfing is all there . THEY DIDNT ACCEPT US DOLLARS AT THE RESORT . Must have a credit card or pesos.

bad news...check in is 4pm. didn't get our room til 4:40 with little apology. Alan was the only front desk/bellman to go out of his way during our wait. building maintenance was going on in our building with a sign posted saying we'd be notified in the case the water needed to be turned off. 3 days of little to no water pressure with little to no sympathy from the front desk until I got angry. turns out maintenance found a problem in our unit. apologies from front desk. 3 days later building water turned off with no notice. they "tried calling the room but I didn't answer the phone". I AM ON VACATION....NOT HANGING IN MY ROOM WAITING FOR A CALL TO TELL ME THE WATER IS BEING TURNED OFF!!! Now the good news....they felt HORRIBLE and gave us 3 free days to any worldmark resort. the overall staff is polite and friendly. they have enough activities on site (ping pong, pool, tennis, etc) rooms are clean, nice view. easy, cheap bus access to Cabo, taxi service to old San Jose del Cabo. too bad you can't swim in the sea out front, that was a big bummer for me. a few nice restaurants conveniently located. 10 minute walk to grocery store.

Just came back from 7 nights at Coral Baja. Overall, nice place. Clean, well maintained, mostly friendly staff.
- Angel the Bellman is the most helpful and would rival any high-end Bellman in the States. Seems to know everything and can always be found during the day.
- Ivon the Activities Coordinator is friendly - once you can get her to smile. Seems distant at first, but warms up.

Be careful not to leave anything sweet out overnight in your room/kitchen (bottom of margarita, etc.) as you will probably have a lot of ants in the morning. Learned that lesson quick! With a good wipe down of the counter, never saw the ants again.

Drinks & food on property were too high priced for my liking. Mama Mia has nice beach atmosphere, but not worth it. Friendly staff at the sportsbar, but never busy and felt out of place being so quiet. Swim-up bar drinks were too syrupy.

The pool area stays busy as there is no swimming in the ocean there. Take that to heart. We helped rescue a father & daughter from the water when a surprise wave caught them at night stargazing. Nightly entertainment never seemed too overwhelming. There are two grills there too if you want to do your own BBQ.

Recommend getting to the small shops right along the road in front of Coral Baja. Smoothie place is a nice retreat in the heat. Trader Dicks has decent selection of food. Didn't go, but Sardina Cantina came highly recommended by locals.
* If you want to hang with a local/hip crowd, check out Syriaccus Bar. Found this gem too late and only was there twice. Friendly staff & crowd. Local bands play in a small space. If you can catch "Cabula" band anywhere in Los Cabos, definitely worth it!

Taxi is $35US to get to or from Cabo San Lucas. We rented a car through reference here on TripAdvisor & were VERY happy we did. Made it easy to go to CostCo & Walmart about 12 miles away. If you plan on venturing out often, highly recommend getting a car. If you drive to San Lucas, recommend parking at the Paraiso mall for 90 pesos.

Room Tip: 4th floor was good for us. High enough for a great view and less pool noise. I think the 2 bedroom...
