“Good but could be better”

First, the place is clean and the staff are friendly. Everything worked well although the TV is a bit small. Also, the music outside tends to be a bit loud and not too good (its in Mexico, why not play music of Mexico?). But overall the place is very good, safe. The main problem though is with the corruption and kickbacks that seems endemic to the whole region.

That is, the junior staff gives bad recommendations when you ask for local Mexican food, despite this being a question commonly asked by guests, i.e. good food at good prices where the locals eat. They keep this info secret, no doubt because they don't get kickbacks from it. Instead of giving out honest information and what the real prices should be, the staff sends you to over priced places for tourists. It took me 3 days of asking around before I found out the secret all locals know: the place to eat is called El Mercado, which runs you only $4 (40 pesos) for a full lunch of the best food you will taste on this trip. I wish I had been given this information when I asked for it. It would have made my trip experience 100% better.

The main place the staff recommends to everyone has decent food (Guacamaya), but way over priced and not for the locals despite what they claim. Everyone who eats there was a tourist. Also, when I asked for another place to try, I was referred to a real bad place that was terrible in every way (price, service, and quality of food)--it was empty, food was inedible, had roaches, and was more expensive than a 5 star San Francisco place with poor service. Would not take back the food they served. Obviously a tourist trap. Cost $51 USD. I

I complained about this after I knew this had to be tourist trap scam, and the junior staff was implicated. Shame on them. The manager, to her credit, took care of the problem for us (the rest. wanted more money and we refused to pay), but it should not have happened.

Cabo seems full of everyone wanting to take advantage of you, get the most money out of you, so honesty here is a rare commodity. Even at the local place when you find it, they will try to over charge you if you don't know the real prices (they don't list them). It would be great of the staff of the hotel actually took your best interest at heart and helped you out with all the vital info about prices and places, and scams, etc, instead of partaking in it, and allowing us to become victims.

My husband and I spent 10 days at the Coral Baja for 1/2 of our honeymoon. We loved EVERYTHING about the resort.

To begin, the customer service was excellent, the cleanliness an A+, the decor cute and modern, pool and beach nice and well maintained. Anything we needed was taken care of immediately. Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean was super romantic and relaxing.

Mama mia is a cute little restaurant inside that offers pretty good food at average prices. The staff is super happy and they go above and beyond to making your dish even if its not in the menu.

Internet is not offered, but Mama mia has free WiFi

I Love Worldmark!

Our room, a 2 bedroom, was adequate for the 5 of us, as it also had a murphy bed. Comfortable beds, and our service with the staff was good. Except these folks are hard-sell resort destination sales people. The MINUTE I walked in the door, I was routed over to the "welcome desk", where they booked an appointment for their sales stuff in disguise. As I was really in need of urgent medical care and very concerned about getting to a doctor, I was a bit off-put, to say the least. Other than that, while the resort was nice, I felt a bit stranded. It's a $5. taxi ride to the closest market, or else there is one restaurant on site, but it doesn't serve breakfast, and the meals it does serve are rather pricey... $10. for burger, over $20. for pasta and with kids, it adds up.
The best thing we found was in Cabo San Lucas (a $30. taxi ride away) where we found a 5 table restaurant, open a whole 4 days, named Rudy's. Located at" Bulevar Marina Loc. 1.D", we ate the most fantastic filet mignon and lobster for a whole whopping $25. The prices so far as shopping were cheaper by 25% or more in Cabo, and the nightlife is hopping. Coral Baja is a nice, quiet resort.

Room Tip: Room was nice, clean, comfortable beds.

We rented a condo here in June 2011. The location of the Coral Baja is IDEAL! It's right in San Jose Del Cabo and right around the corner from the Mega store and restaurants/shops. I would recommend renting a car!!! It's not hard to drive in Cabo and you won't regret it. If I stayed in Cabo again I would stay here or very close by...as I said the location is great....can't stress that enough. It's near the surfing beach as well.

The condo itself was a bit outdated and could use some updating, but some of the other condos looked good. We didn't have a cleaning service, but you can pay extra for that. The pool and restaurant on site are great and it wasn't too crowded. I prefer the smaller resorts to the overcrowded large ones. The water pressure sucked and the hot water ran out quickly, but these are just minor things. If you are looking for a place to stay with all the comforts of home that's inexpensive, this is the place for you. We traveled a lot around San Jose and Cabo San Lucas, so if you are looking to stay on the resort mainly, you may want to look at some larger/nicer resorts. The resort had two hot tubs and a large pool, great for families, couples, and kids! The staff was pretty friendly as well.

I just love the Worldmark resorts. Your own kitchen, your own king size bedroom, your own living room, awesome balcony to perch yourself on and watch the drunk people in the pool... Mama Mia's had great food if you didn't want to cook or just wanted a snack... surf spot a long walk down the beach... perfect perfect perfect... can't wait to go back in August 2011

Our second stay here at the Baja. We stopped at the Mega grocery on the way from the airport, checked in, and didnt leave for 4 days. Its was superb, exactly what we wanted. Another clean, well equiped Worldmark. The grounds are imaculate with friendly staff everwhere. We did not eat at Mia's but loved the music and festivities going on there nightly. The pool was like a bath. We loved it.

We stayed her in November 2009 and November 2010. Both times we had our daughter who is now 2 years old. Our condo was a one bedroom and we love that it is ocean view as we spent a lot of chilling out and beer time on our patio when we were a bit "overdosed" with the sun. Having a kitchenette was great when travelling with a baby/child. Everyone was pleasant. The guests tend to be more senior then young but that is not a problem for us as we are not party goers with our daughter and all. Concierge was helpful giving us instructions on how to get to a snorkelling beach, getting to San Jose as well as Cabo San Lucas. Unfortunately 2 years in a row we attended their Mexican Fiesta night and both times my husband fell very ill with vomiting etc. which made our journey home a small nightmare. We love that it is beachside and although swimming is not permitted our daughter played at the water's edge where she could still splash when the waves rolled in. For us we were looking for a place to relax as touring was not a high priority with a toddler and this was it. This year we were lucky enough to take part in the resort's turtle release program which was an experience I will never forget. Grocery amenities were a 15 minute walk away. There were no problems with people bringing their own music to the pool or with internet. We used the business centre when we needed as internet is not a huge priority on vacation, the same goes with t.v. Would return for sure... Everyone was very helpful and friendly and the place was super clean.
