“A Sanctuary in San Jose del Cabo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2011

I just got back from a stay at Posada Chabela. This is a very charmng and tranquil place, away from all of the Cabo tourists and hassle, I thought I was visiting an old friend's home. Owner, Rose Ann is extremely charming, friendly, helpful and kind.
The casitas are artistically and comfortably furnished with a private patio... like a little sanctuary in a tropical garden. It was absolutely spotlessly clean and the common kitchen had every amenity you could want, including fresh juices and baked goods in the morning.
The pool was perfect and the short walk down the hill to the beach, was easy and fun to do every morming. Private, peacefull, a wonderful escape....this was one of the highlights of my visit to Baja!

Room Tip: All the casitas are different, private and comfortable.

Last summer, I had the good fortune to accidentally discover Posada Chabela --- http://www.posadachabela.com/ --- high on a hill with dramatic ocean views and across the street from Costa Azul and Zippers world famous surfing beach just west of San Jose del Cabo looking south over the blue Pacific. I met up with owner Rose Ann Solazzo and stayed one night in one of her beautiful casitas; earlier that day I had signed a 2-month lease in Cabo San Lucas.

This gay friendly, beautiful property consists of 4 stand-alone casitas each providing a bit of screening in a tiered, garden setting. Posada Chabela is not a “gay” resort; it simply caters to all people and all lifestyles. So if you crave privacy, intimacy and a small boutique resort owned and operated by a wonderful lady, then this is the ONLY place in the Cape you should stay. Just read a few of the other reviews and visit her website. All lifestyles are welcome --- depending on the presence of other clientele, she says portions of the property allow for being comfortable in a clothing-optional lifestyle. The salt water pool affords complete privacy. Unfortunately I did not get the chance to try out being naked. During the summer of 2010 I did wind up discovering a number of nude beaches in Baja, but that’s another story for another day and another thread. Contact me if you have questions.

Rose Ann is the proverbial “innkeeper” tending to all her guests’ needs. She welcomes both gay and straight visitors. Her style is to mingle with guests, both cooking and eating. She is a wonderful person and gracious host. The two of us I wound up sitting in the outdoor dining area and chatting about many things. And we’ve since become friends. Rose Ann is a blast and we spent one very long day together driving a circuit tour of the cape by car from San Jose to Los Barriles to El Triunfo to La Paz to Todos Santos and back. What fun we had! She is a treasure trove of information and contacts of all types.

I strongly encourage Cabo visitors to consider staying here. Prices are very reasonable and are less than the “major” name-brand resorts. This little hideaway offers a pleasant change from the usual “cookie cutter” mega resorts in Cabo San Lucas. I shall be returning.

Room Tip: Top 2 provide more privacy if you wish to be nude.

What a wonderful place to stay! RoseAnn was a wonderful host and added to the experience. We stayed in the Damiana for 7 nights, and loved every minute of it. The location is just outside San Jose and about 25 mins away from San Lucas (we were not impressed with this city in general). We rented a car for half the trip, but were able to get around and into San Jose very easily without.

This property is actually across the street from the beach, but a short (5-minute) hike down a sandy path will take you right to a nice beach. There are actually a couple restaurants within walking distance too. Great hiking just off the property too.

I would suggest staying in the Damiana or Dahlia units, as they are larger and have private bathrooms.

We definitely plan on returning! Thanks RoseAnn!

Sweet RoseAnn gave us very personalized attention, coordinated side trips and suggested restaurants and activities that were terrific. The grounds were beautiful, well kept, clean, scenic. Enjoyed being out of the thick of things, laid back setting. Very enjoyable, relaxing vacation. We hope to return soon. A great value.

We both booked 2 days in advance before christmas and stayed another day as it was so relaxing. RoseAnn made us a great breakfast each morning while the hummingbirds were around us.
Best place to stay certainly after arrival from oversea flights. green and relaxing with great views on the ocean.
Thx RoseAnn!

This B&B overlooks Costa Azul, near San Jose del Cabo. We stayed in one of the casitas for a long weekend, and had a lovely time. Each casita has its own private sitting area surrounding by very lovely gardens. Breakfast is served each morning from 9-10am, and consists of a selection of fresh fruits and bread, coffee, and juice. The real treat, however, is RoseAnn's smoothies. Be sure to ask for one--they're fabulous. In addition, this B&B offers a bar area to relax at, which works on the honor system. You make a note of the drinks you consume, and pay at the end. This worked great for us, and we found the prices to be very reasonable. There is also a lovely pool to relax in and a lounge area. As others have mentioned, you might want to rent a car to be able to get around easily. We decided not to, and found the bus was sufficient to get wherever we wanted to go. The bus comes every 15-20 mins, and you can pick it up at the bottom on the hill. It runs to both San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas.

I found this place on Trip advisor. We stopped for the first 2 nights of our driving tour of Los Cabos at this charming B&B...very hospitable hostess, good breakfasts. We loved the place:
gorgeous terraced garden with an abundance of bird life, quaint casitas for accommodation.
I loved the open air showers but depending on the season, you may need to bring mosquito repellant.
