I’m so glad that I took the advice of the guides I met in Cabo to go on a tour with Cabo Shark Dive. We booked a private tour for three (2 adults + 10yo). The booking was super easy and fast. My mother was slightly nervous about my younger sibling (10yo) coming with my boyfriend and I, but as soon as we met the crew I knew we were in the right hands.

The boat crew made the excursion extremely comfortable and fun. We would stop in case we’d see humpback whales and they told us about the behavior and ecology of local species. Our guides (Martin and David) gave us thorough briefings before and during the excursion, making sure all of us understood the safety procedures. From the start, the boat crew and the guides were prepared for having a child on board.

They gave her a buoy to lay on in the water; Martin and David stayed nearby the ENTIRE time of the dive. When we were done swimming with the shark (after 20 mins), they swam her back to the boat and Ulysses kept an eye on her the whole time. I’m so appreciative to the team for the service and their emphasis on safety, especially since a child was part of the excursion.

As we headed back to the marina, the crew managed to make my little sister smile for weeks. David asked her ‘so you like sea lions right?’ (After seeing her getting overly excited at the arch) and brought her to the end of the boat. They surprised her by getting a sea lion on the boat!

That day was the highlight of our trip to cabo, and one of the best experience in our lives!

Thank you again, SO much, Jacobo, David, Martin, Ulysses and the Captain!

Over the Christmas week we enjoyed two different tours with Cabo Shark Dive.
First was the snorkeling tour. On the way out we stopped to swim with a small group of mobulas, then continued out to sea. After an hour or two of chumming it looked like we were going to be unlucky, but then a silky showed up and we all got into the water to swim with this beautiful creature. The crew were great and the weather awesome, it was a great way to kick off our first morning of the trip.
The second trip was with the whale sharks up in La Paz. A different crew but equally professional and we were also with a fun group. Our boat headed away from the others in the hope of finding a whale shark that we could swim with, and after some time of searching, success. Everyone got to swim with it two or three times and it was a great day out.
Aside from the amazing time swimming with these sharks there’s a few things I want to mention, as they illustrate a great team.
One of our trips was cancelled and the communication in getting a replacement tour arranged was great.
On the whale shark swim we were with a girl that was trying to overcome her fear of water (hadn’t been in the sea for 20 years), the crew were great encouraging & supporting her. She conquered her fear & swam with the whale shark.
We received the wrong photos from one of our tours (which can happen easily with so many different groups). But we had a super responsive email thread and ended up with the right pics.
I was impressed with this team and will absolutely go with them again next time i visit.

We had an amazing time with crew of Cabo Shark Dive. A trip of this type requires an intimate understanding of the marine environment and that showed with the Shark team. We were setup with equipment at the dock and once on the water the sharp eyes of the captain and crew located whales, dolphins, turtles, sharks and sea lions. Our guide Miguel's enthusiasm for these encounters was genuine and he provided insight into these animals and their behaviors. And that was on the way to the shark dive! We got to the dive site and the crew setup to bring the sharks. Then we just had to wait. We used this time to discuss sharks in the area, their importance to the marine environment and other insights. We waiting a while and Miguel reminded us that a "safari" trip like this requires you to have patience and wait for nature to come to you. We were at the end of our trip (fortunately the Shark team agreed to extend our trip just a bit) and sharks started to show. First a blue then silky and finally a mako. We were already geared up and instructed on what to do when Miguel got us into the water. The Mako cruised around the boat, curiously approached out small group, and then vanished. While our time in the water was brief the experience was beyond my expectations. Having the chance to see an animal of this power and beauty in its realm was a once in a lifetime experience. I would recommend this trip to folks that appreciate wildlife and are comfortable in the water. This is a "safari" so you need to keep an open mind and wait for nature to come to you. Thank you Miguel and crew for an amazing time.

The crew was excellent! The lead guides for this tour were Martin and David. They know what they are doing and were determined to give us the best experience possible. It was somewhat of a rough day of chumming with two sharks kind of doing a swim by during two hours but leaving as soon as someone jumped in the water. The guides seemed as disappointed as we were to not get the sharks to stick around, so they asked if we wanted to wait and try for a third hour. They said it was more typical that they have success with some sharks between 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. We were discouraged but patient, and finally two silkies came to play! The sharks swam around and seemed to be as curious about us as we were about them and sometimes came super close to us but never in any threatening sort of way. Finally seeing and being in the water with them was 1000% worth it!! One recommendation would be to take Dramamine or Benadryl beforehand since multiple people experienced seasickness. They seemed to like the final experience and excitement nonetheless. Email communication was good for needing to change scheduling a couple of times. A nice bonus was that the guides are professional underwater photographers and took some superb photos that they emailed to us. I would love to go on more excursions like this during different seasons to see some other types of sharks too. If you like animal encounters or adventure, definitely do an excursion with these guys!
