“Beautiful Property”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

The landscaping on this property is different and beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The food was just alright. A great variety but most of it is grilled. My wives stomach cannot take much grilled food. The only show that we thought was good was the Michael Jackson show.

The drinks could be very good, depending on the bartender. Mario was very good, made our Black Russins with Kahula, other bar tenders used Creme de Cocoa which were not very good.

The activities were near building 7 in the pool, referred to as the crazy pool. Not a good family area to be with young kids. There is a pool area for younger kids which was in the quiet pool. The problem with the quiet pool is there are no rest rooms around the pool. You either go back to your room, go by the sports bar or as many did, go in the pool. Not very sanitary.

It is a very large complex. We were told we could see the arch from the crazy pool but all you see is a side of the arch, not really seeing the arch itself. We were told a glass bottom boat ride tour allows you to see the arch but you must walk in the water to get in the boat. This is not good for any handicapped person or seniors. We also were told they charge a $1 to help you into the boat.

The dress code in the specialty restaurants is relaxed. The only requirement for men is no cut off shirts without sleeves.

The breakfast selection was the best. The smoothies were very good, the omelettes were delicious and there was a great variety of fresh fruit to choose from.

This is a great place for singles in the age range of 30 - 40 years of age. Lots of partying all night long. The disco is open till 5:00am and the sports bar is open 24 hours, with pool tables and fooze ball tables.

There is no room service at all which is a problem if someone is ill and cannot leave the room. The other issue is that the hotel does not allow anyone an extended stay after check out. We offered to pay to keep the room later and it was not allowed. This was an inconvenience since check out is 11:00am and our plane did not leave till 7:25pm.

The last limitation in the bottled water. There are large bottles (1.5L) of water in the room but for any smaller bottles of water, you must go to the front desk. The bars by the pools do not have bottled water.

Room Tip: Building 7 is the only building with an elevator and a bathroom near the pool. It is also the noici...

This was our 1st time to Cabo and the Riu Santa Fe. Before booking we read numerous reviews on Trip Advisor. Here is our take on it: the grounds are immaculate and clean! The staff are some of the hardest working people I have ever seen. Seriously tip your maids and waitstaff. They put up with drunken people, college age and middle aged couples, who are rude, dirty and embarrassing. Some of the complaints I have seen have been hysterical, drinks not cold enough, buffet was bland, seriously we were there for 5 nights/ 6 days. There was fresh seafood and fruit and traditional dishes every night. Sorry that some folks can't leave the USA without having their McDonalds, Pizza Huts, etc. Why do you travel to another country anyways?! Also remember it's the Baja, desert oasis surrounded by ocean that if it doesn't come from the sea it's imported. The views were amazing, our room was spacious and cool after long days in the sun and heat, pools were nice although we stayed away from drunken party infinity pool. Yes by the afternoon it does smell like pee but chalk that up to the guests and not the staff who are constantly cleaning. We would not hesitate to stay again. Certainly go when we did, May 4 th- May 11th, no more spring breakers. It was quiet and nice!

This was the first all-inclusive resort I stayed in so I didn't set my expectations very high. Overall, it was a good price for what was included, but it was nothing extraordinary. The room was decent, food and drinks were okay, and overall the resort was pretty well maintained.

Stayed 5 days, really enjoyed the hotel. Big rooms. The rooms were clean. Buffet was good not great. We had a nice view of the ocean and lands end. It was a bit of a ways from town. No swimming at beach in front of hotel. All in all, we thought it was a good value for the money. Just don't expect too much.

Room Tip: Be sure to get an ocean view

We traveled to the Riu Sante Fe on 4/19-4/26. This wasour first time to Cabo and first time at a Riu. We typically vacation in the Rivera Maya Mexico and prefer the small resorts. We use Trip Advisor reviews to help us plan our vacation to places unfamiliar. Here's our experience in Cabo!

Pros
Beautiful view of Lands End (no view of the Arch by the way!) and the excellent location only about a 10 min cab ride into Cabo!
Beautiful resort and immaculate grounds. We stayed in Bldg 5 on the 3rd floor. People complain about noise in the hall ways but never noticed it. This is the first resort where the doors to the rooms don't directly go out into the hall but 2 rooms share a small hallway with a door to shut to the main hallway. It made things very quiet!
Also, people complain about bar service being slow at the resort. It took us 4 days to figure this out, but they have a bartender with a little pushcart that they wheel around the pool area. Heads up beer drinkers....Andre serves the coldest beer at the resort!!!! Tip him well and he will hang around your area of the pool!
Also, people complain about the reservation process for the restaurants and having to get up early and wait in line to book dinner. Best thing to do is walk into the restaurant when you want to eat and approach the hostess/manager with a couple of bucks in hand and ask if they have a table available....voila....never had a problem being seated! Don't waste your vacation waiting in line in the morning to book dinner!
Weather was phenomenal not a cloud in the sky for the first 4 days! Definitely go into Cabo and experience the town. Awesome little taco shops with very good tacos at a very reasonable price! Whatever you do....make sure you go over to the beach at Lands End. It's beautiful! Keep in mind there are no bathrooms over there and getting off of the boat onto the beach is a challenge! But make sure you head over and spend some time...it's well worth it and one of the highlights of our vacation! Also, the boat ride out there they will show you "the Arch" and the "Pacific Window". Don't spend the extra money to take a tour. Your trip out there you will see them as well as the sea lions! Must do!

Cons
Our biggest complaint was the vendors that set up on the beach. We love being on the beach down by the water. This resort has an area that is roped off with beach chairs but the vendors block the view of the water! The vendors are very aggressive and made it very uncomfortable for us to sit in the area. Granted there are a few areas at the end of the roped off areas where you could lay and not have vendors standing over you but not very nice.
Yes, the swim up area is loud and obnoxious. Easy solution is to not hang out in that area.
Yes, the towel game is in full effect. No different than any other resort though. Had friends we met from Portland get there stuff tossed off despite being down at 5:30 in the morning. Don't be surprised.
The ride to the resort from the airport is not 10 mins as some have said. Plan on at least an hour as they drop other people at other resorts. But enjoy the ride and views of the ocean. Spectacular views and beautiful resorts on your way to the Sante Fe.
Conclusion
Wouldn't hesitate to book the Sante Fe again! Spectacular view of the water and Lands End.

We recently traveled here for my husbands "surprise" 50th birthday. The grounds were amazingly clean, very pretty views. The room was very clean and very accommodating. We asked for a room in the "7" building and received it. Also, my single friend was traveling with us, we asked for her to be close, and she was. We basically had our own private hallway. We stayed in rooms 7283 and 7284. Fridge was complete with large bottles of water, beer, etc. we never used the liquor in the dispensers. I was a little leary, after reading reviews before we went that the airconditioning wasn't working, ours was perfect. In fact one night, I got up and put sweats on because I was freezing! We had some awesome bartenders and learned a few new drinks too! BBC (Caesars especiale comes with the addition of cherries and cherry juice!) yum! and we had a superman and countless others! Everybody was incredibly nice! We booked our al a carte meals right there in our building. We tried the Mexican resteraunt- we didn't like it, nothing Mexican about it! Also we tried the Italian, it was ok. Then the steak house, again just ok. We have stayed at other Rius and found their food much better. But hey, we didn't starve! We also got into the habit of getting up at 730 (we never used to do this!) found our chairs, ate breakfast and got started early! We met many friendly people! We played some awesome water volleyball! We walked down the beach to a water taxi- $10 pp, and he was kind enough to rent snorkel equipment too! Went over to land's end, and visited Lover's beach, divorce beach and pelican beach! good times!l Very disappointed to not play in the ocean at our resort, but the waves were tremendous and the sand was not what we are used to, it was very coarse. But we enjoyed the pools! Would I go back? Not necessarily, we like the warm calm Caribbean better. But we did enjoy our time. Did not see any shows, and tried the disco, smelled like vomit, we turned around. We did cab to town, saw Cabo Wabo, not that exciting, and walked down the road to a little place and listened to some live 80's music, mexico style! fun night! We also at one point went down to Mango's on the beach, it was a crazy good time! Believe it or not, we got home and said none of us had enough Mexican food!

Room Tip: We liked the "7" building, right next to the party pool, buffet, and had our own dinner re...

Do not stay here. The only reason we did was because of a friends wedding. The food is disgusting, the drinks are even worse. Hope you like Dos Equis because it is the only beer they have. Went to the market to get alcohol/mixers to make our own drinks. Went to dinner off property every night because we couldn't stomach pizza with cut up hot dogs for a topping. The staff are all rude, but there are so many drunk obnoxious people staying here that I don't blame them. I am in my 30's and like to have a good time, but the crowd at this hotel is out of control. You can not even dance in the disco because it smells of vomit. Stay away from the Sante Fe!
Cabo is such a beautiful place, don't waste your money at this hotel!!!
