When we first arived at the hotel it is pretty and clean Our room was on the second floor and overlooking a natural preserve. We have been to many RIU's and this one had NO security anywhere. We went down to the pool near the ocean and beautiful view of the ocean and THEN the sight at the pool bar was sick. Old, young and in between yelling and screaming and no control whats so ever. We went to the other pool and it was more quiet. Two days later all the spring breakers arrived and I never saw so many drunk young and old, and throwing up everywhere publicly, including in the pool. Nothing was done with the throw up and I told everyone to get out and they threw a bucket of bleach and that was it, and everyone jumped back in. DONT go MARCH or APRil. I felt sorry for the families arriving when we were leaving.

Room Tip: Don't go for no security means trouble

The hotel is located on a very beautiful beach. The hotel staff is very friendly and the rooms were good. The food was very average, nothing impressive. The drinks were very good and the bartenders were always willing to prepare the drinks according to our requests. The food on the a la carte restaurants was very bad. Stay with the buffets... The beach is not good for families with kids because the ocean has strong currents and big waves...

Room Tip: Pay extra for the rooms closer to the beach if walking is an issue...

Stayed at the Riu Feb. 7-14, 2013. The hotel is huge with a number of 3 storey buildings on the property. We stayed in building 3. It was very close the the 'quiet' pool & lunch buffet. It was approx a 3 min walk to the main foyer of the hotel. The front desk was always very friendly & accommodating for any request. The 'young' pool is a long walk from the main foyer. Building 7 would be the best location to access the infinity pool as well as the beach. The beach is very wide & well groomed. You can walk into town on the beach within 45 minutes. For such a large resort it was impeccably clean, yet never really seeing service people at work. We had a double room & it was much larger than other hotel I have visited. We ended up with a single cot added to the room & we each had enough space without tripping over one another. Housekeeping for our room was substandard compared to our travel companions in two other rooms. The rooms are equipped with a mini fridge stocked with beer, water and pop & there is also 4 full liquor bottles in dispensers. There are a number of cats on the property, probably kept because the property is adjacent to a large undeveloped natural area which most likely is home to many rodents. The cats were very friendly & healthy. The main dining room is very well appointed with white table cloths, very clean dishes & cutlery & extremely efficient staff. The lunch buffet by the pool & the evening buffet in the main dining room was always delicious, very fresh, very clean with lots of variety. If you like good mixed drinks, this is not the place to indulge. The premix slush is very sweet & made for the masses. Stick to beer or a drink mixed with your fav bar brands which you need to ask for. Even the black russians didn't taste right. If you enjoy a nice glass of wine it is best to buy your own bottle at a local store & bring it to the restaurant/room. The wine is terribly brutal at the resort. Just outside the resort gate is the location to catch the bus for town. It is approx 20 min ride. The bus has nowhere to turn off the highway to go into town so it travels in the opposite direction to the overpass before it heads into town. If you want to go to Walmart or Costco this is the bus to take. The return trip is very short. If you have back issues, better take a taxi. Overall the resort was very good, just perhaps too big.

Room Tip: Building 7 (and higher) overlook the infinity pool and beach.

it was an experience that I will remember forever. They catered to our every whim. From the pick up from the airport to checking in at the hotel it was the best experience ever. Be aware that there is some walking involved at the resort. We were over by the beach in our room was wonderful. They had the best staff ever. They were always so friendly and very attentive. They helped us plan all the activities and took the worry out pf everything. It was perfect. Even our tour guides were the best, I can't wait to go back. Our bar was always stocked, our rooms were always clean. In fact the whole place was very clean. The staff always were there if we needed anything. I can't express enough was a great place this is!

We stayed at the Riu from February 19th to the 26th. From some of the reviews we wondering how our stay would be. We arrived on a Tuesday and check in was very easy. We put in a request for building 7 or 5 via email as the room tips suggested. Building 7 is the only one with an elevator and ocean views. I think that it is an upgrade or extra charge to stay in 7. We got building 5 and were not disappointed. We had a view of the mountains and some of the resort. Just FYI we requested 2nd floor but were on the 3rd floor, ground floor is zero. The buffets were plentiful with a wide assortment of food. We did make reservations at the restaurants. We ate at the Italian, Asian and Mexican. All were good. Not gourmet quality but good. The resort was very clean as well as the rooms. The staff all very friendly and accommodating. Almost every nite in the courtyard they had different tacos, shrimp chicken chorizo or pork. One nite they had burritos to order. Another nite grilled crab claws. Breakfasts made to order omelettes pancakes French toast bacon sausages and too many other things to mention. Days were in mid seventies nights were cooler and needed a jacket or sweater. Bar service was good. We did tip the workers. They work very hard and long hours so a tip is appreciated. Arturo in the dining areas took great care of us. We took a cab to Cabo 12 dollars for four people. Visited Mango Deck wanted to go to the Office but need reservations for the evening. Had a few beers at Tabascos too. Can walk to Mango Deck from the resort on the beach. Took a water taxi to Lands end. All in all we had a great time so don't pay attention to the bad reviews. This is an all inclusive with buffet meals which were very good. It is a very large resort with lots of walking. Numerous pools, the beach pools are the most crowded with the party crowd. There are quieter pools on the property. We did reserve beach chairs in the morning with our towels on the beach. The wine is not very good but there are many other drink choices. Liked the mango daquiri's.

Room Tip: We liked building five middle of property between beach and main dining area and lobby

Stayed from Feb.19 to Mar. 1 The weather was not an issue,,perfect in the daytime sunscreen needed a little cool at night I was fine with just a t-shirt. What I like about this hotel is it's size it is big 2000-2400 guests and 1000 staff..you can find an area you like from party on dude to quiet and relaxed. If you don't like to do a little walking or climb some stairs stay away.. building 7 has the only elevator it's on the beach but about 3 blocks from the lobby and main restaurant..we stayed in building 3 room 3302 top floor with a good view but not ocean view. We didn't like our first room but changing rooms is easy. The staff tries hard to please. As stated by previous posts you can always find something to eat at the buffets..the red wine isn't very good we went to walmart also there is a big wine store beside walmart we walked there and took a taxi back for $8

This was our first time to Mexico, and Cabo is beautiful! The Riu Sante Fe is top notch. the rooms were nice, very clean. We were in building 1, close to pool, buffet and lobby. The only small downfall was the smell from the horse stable behind but only lasted short time early in the morning. Didn't bother us. The staff was incredible and very, very friendly. This is the cleanest resort I have been to. When eating the staff couldn't clear away dishes fast enough they serve you and always with a smile! We did tip but regardless the service was there. Drinks were good, and we only saw a few people overdoing it. But we were at the quiet pool. Take note though no chairs can be saved before 8AM unless you sit with your towels on the chair. The staff removes whatever you leave on the chair if you are not there. But only until 8am. So grab a coffee, and relax while waiting. One downfall was the cold evenings!! I heard it was cool, but we needed pants, sweatshirts and jackets! Too cold for me! Daytime temps were 80's, but early morning and evening very cold when we were there! Love the resort, the staff and food and would highly recommend it!

Room Tip: Loud rooms but with ocean view..pick building 7. We liked building 1 near pool, buffet and lobby. Ni...
