Hacienda Encantada Resort & Residences

Reviewed June 18, 2014

We spent 5 weeks this year at the Hacienda Encantada beginning Feb 22, 2014. We sold our timeshare at Sunset Beach two years ago and bought at the Hacienda Encantada. The furnishing are so much more comfortable and the view overlooking the Sea of Cortez is fabulous! Also this resort is much more laid back and quiet but still close to everything. We really like using the shuttle to the sister resort Marina Fiesta at the harbor in Cabo San Lucas. When we go into the marina we visit many of the great restaurants there. The only drawback to HE is the food is very expensive and not very filling or tasty.
The service is above and beyond. Many of the staff including Manuel, Carlos, Oscar Baldercowa, Gil, Idoalecio Moesjo, Audel, Alberto, Luis and Mario are so friendly and quick to take care of our every need. We never ever had to want or wait for anything. Every time they gave us a tip on a good place to eat it was spot on! They all had very good taste and manners. Could only wish we had their work ethic and service at home!
The past two years when we had to leave after spending 4 or 5 weeks there it was like leaving part of our family behind. How we wish we could bring them home for a visit with us so that we could show just a little of the appreciation we feel for them making our vacation so relaxing, warm & friendly!
Friends have asked us if we are sorry to have a vacation every year in the same place instead of traveling around and seeing new places. We have found in H. E. a place that fills our hearts and gives us rest after working hard and dealing with stress the rest of the year. Why look for anything else when we have found the best!
Hacienda Encantada with the terrific bell boys, concierge, housekeeping and beautiful pools, landscaping and activities (Fernan is terrific) keep us smiling until we can return every winter!!!

Very nice resort to relax and just chill by the pool. The room we had was a master suite, super nice with a great view of the Sea of Cortez! We found the service to be adequate and the resturants to be very expensive. So much so we only ate there 2 times during a 7 day stay. We did make use of the kitchen. Since we didn't have children, we used the "adult" pool not the Activity pool. I appreciate that children aren't allowed in one of the 2 pools! I do think the pools should be open later than 8pm! Also the resort refused to allow us to bring a couple into the resort for a few hours! What's up with that? They potentially lost rent/sales, etc. I would consider going back but would also look at other resorts/hotels in the Cabo area. I can't say much about activities because we chose not to engage in "excursion" type activities (leave the resort and pay to: ride horses, sail, ATV tours, etc.) but there seems to be plenty if you want to go do those things.

Returning from a week at Hacienda Encantada and couldn’t be more satisfied with our stay. The resort is in a stunning location with gorgeous views and well maintained grounds. The key to this place is the service by the staff. We were never disappointed by any staff we encountered. The valets always had our car ready for us, the pool staff was quick and attentive, the cart service was reliable and always friendly. We traveled with our 11 month old son and everyone was warm and kind to him – he made friends with just about everyone on staff. Fernan, the activities director, is great with kids and offers fun daytime activities. We look forward to our return trips when our son will be old enough to enjoy the many options from cooking and Spanish classes to pool volleyball. We stayed in a one bedroom which had the right amount of space for us. We were able to put our son to sleep at night in the bedroom and enjoy adult time in the living room/kitchen and on the large balconies without having to worry about waking him. This room also had 2 full bathrooms. The buffet breakfast is really good and has everything you could want but we also appreciate having a kitchen to eat smaller meals/snacks as we wish. There are a few options for dinner on property which were decent (we enjoyed the low-key taco bar and La Trajinera for a kicked up meal). This resort has a small store if you need something quick and fast. Otherwise, I suggest visiting Walmat, Sams Club or Costco to buy food and drinks for your room and take advantage of the kitchen.
There isn’t a swimmable beach at the resort but the popular and happening Medano Beach is a short drive away as is Chileno Beach. The two pools on site will provide anyone visiting with what they need. The larger activities pool with music and pool volleyball is fun and lively. The oceanfront infinity pools are designated as the quiet pools and are quite relaxing. There are also 2 very shallow pool areas for kids to play in (one is warmed).
This resort is built on hills so you either walk up and down to the lobby and restaurants or you can wait for cart service. We didn’t find the hills difficult to manage, even with a baby in a stroller or on us, but someone with difficulties walking may want to consider another property or be aware that they will always be using the cart service to get around.
We are truly happy with this resort and are already booking our return trip next year!

Room Tip: For rooms with a view you need Phase 1 or north side and upper floors of Phase 2

I'd never been to Cabo, but previous trips to Mexico had me going in to the trip with low expectations. What a lovely gift this place turned out to be! Great for couples as well as families. Many folks were there for the umpteenth year in a row with children in tow. They all seemed to have forged a bind with the activities director...a great guy - as were all employees. Spa n restaurants were super. Transportation to sister hotel in town was key - but perhaps should be an amenity. I'd go back and that says a ton!!

I stayed at the Hacienda Encantada May 31st thru June 7th in a suite. The room was perfect. The lanai was the best. The resort was clean and safe (staff always walking around). The staff friendly and check-in and out was quick. The view from the infinity pools amazing. The food at this resort was good. What I also liked was you can take a shuttle from the resort for $5 US into Cabo. It takes you to the sister resort that is literally steps away from the marina. After a fun day on Cabo Escape snorkel, lunch & booze cruise (do this for $60 US the party coming back is crazy fun!) we went to this resort to cool off in the pool. Later we dressed up for the evening and headed out for dinner. At 10:30pm we took the shuttle back to the Encantada. Easy and no worries about finding a cab and what it will cost you. When back in Cabo I will stay at the Hacienda Encantada. Oh yeah, and be sure to book Blue Sky Cabo for a beautiful sunset cruise. It was awesome! Karallee

Beautiful views and grounds! Service could be better. Most of the staff are very friendly but English is sparse.restaurants serve decent food. Could be better and more diverse. Nice place to stay. Our unit had a kitchen so if you want to cook you can. Also did not like getting multiple phone calls from house keeping, while we had our do not disturb out?

Wow- I was so impressed by this place! It exceeded my expectations. I am surprised by many of the negative comments. Complaining about fountains being turned off- really? I noticed they were off when it was really windy- but who cares?? The grounds are beautiful- the pools (each with it's own swim up bar) were awesome. The food and service was great. Our room was outstanding. We had a studio, and I was surprised by how substantial the kitchen was. You get a full size fridge/ freezer, stove top with 2 burners, toaster, coffee maker, and blender (loved having a blender!). I was also surprised that we got maid service daily, and they did our dishes! Now that's a vacation :). Our balcony was unbelievable- the view was amazing and the balcony was extra large. Like other reviewers have mentioned- try to get a phase 1 room. Ours was phase 1 top floor- and the view was unbeatable. We enjoyed every minute of our stay- and will definitely be back again!!

Room Tip: Phase 1 has the BEST views. We had a corner top floor unit (room 4150) and the balcony is extra larg...
