An amazing wonderful experience. We booked 25 people in to Villa del Arco and Villa del Palmar for my daughter's destination wedding in Cabo. She had definite plans but a very limited budget. We were able to get a number of the rooms on special promotion rates, and the hotel management made changes, within reasonable limits to accommodate the needs of a number of the guests, people arriving at different times and days.

The wedding planner (Gretel) was quite helpful in arranging flowers, beach seating and portal, music (a great Mexican trio), excellent photographer, buffet dinner, and open bar on the Pirate ship.
I won't say it went off without a hitch since we had to advance the date of the wedding at the last moment because of an approaching hurricane that ultimately only brushed Cabo, but made for very stormy conditions on the original date. That being said, it was a beautiful, personal, exciting week and a very fun event.

We really would thank the staff (Jean Louis, Cesar, Eduardo, Gretel, Natalie, and many others at Villa del Arco, and Villa del Palmar) for helping us to make it happen.

We think this is a great family destination.

This hotel was great. We had a beautiful 1 bedroom suite with a nice balcony looking out at the pool and the ocean. The service at this hotel was wonderful as well. Yes, they asked if we would tour the hotel (timeshare tour) and we did it because we figured out how much we would save with the "Gold Card." I think it was worth the 2 hours it took to do the tour. We booked 3 massages at 40% off, and a waverunner ride at 50% off. Plus we saved 15% on the food and drinks at the hotel all week. The restaurants at the hotel are wonderful, the food is absolutely delicious. It is fairly expensive for food and drinks at the hotel, but you get what you pay for. The yellowfin ceviche is THE BEST! The spa is amazing. I think it was the best massage I have ever had (80 min therapeutic). I would definitely recommend this hotel. The location is great, just outside of downtown, but close enough to walk. The lounge chairs at the pool along the beach are THE PERFECT SPOT to hang out for the day.

My wife and I spent the week of September 13 – 20 at the Villa Del Arco. This was our second time at the VDA (the first was last December). As with our visit last December, the grounds were immaculate, the service was good, and we were not bothered about time-share presentations after we indicated upon arrival that we were not interested in their promotional package.

Visiting Cabo in September (considered “low” season) has some advantages and disadvantages over traveling there in December (considered “high” season). Some of the advantages are:
- Fewer tourists, less crowded airport
- Easier check-in/check-out at the resort
- Flea markets and beach vendors have fewer customers so better deals can be made
- Quieter surroundings
- Ocean water temperature is warmer (better for swimming, snorkeling, and diving)
Some of the disadvantages are:
- Higher humidity
- Tends to have more rain/storms (it only rained at night during our stay)
- More bugs (mosquitoes and gnats)
- Some of the beach restaurants closed for remodeling (to prepare for high season)

Transportation can be expensive so we used Trans Cabo as our airport shuttle service. My wife and I rode (Airport to VDA) for $63 round trip as opposed to cab fare of around $60 - $70 one-way. This shuttle service was shared between a few different resorts so the reservations need to be made in advance. One tip about getting through the airport on arrival – walk straight through and don’t let anyone tell you that they are the one you need to see to verify your transportation. All transportation services are outside the airport and do not come inside to meet their clients. I had one guy tell me straight out that he was the Trans Cabo rep (pointed to some fake badge) and that I needed to deal with him directly. He turned out to be a timeshare/activities coordinator trying to get me to sign up for a bunch of useless activities that I had no interest in. My mistake was that I was holding paperwork for Trans Cabo and he used that as his way in. Keep paperwork and/or anything that identifies your intentions out of sight until you clear the airport terminal. The airport hustlers are one group that the Cabo tourist department should clean-up. Until then, don’t talk with any of them unless you are interested in getting sucked into their promotional deals.

I went scuba diving through Manta Dive Shop and the experience was great. The water was 85 degrees (F) with good visibility. The water temperature was very comfortable even down around 70 feet. Manta also carries very good rental equipment at a good price.

We ate dinners at Las Palmas and Baja Cantina which were just up the beach from the VDA (5 – 10 minute walk). Both were very good. We also ate at a place called Pochos in the marina. Small place, very good food, great service. We only had one dinner at the resort, in the La Perla restaurant. Excellent food, fantastic service; however, the portion size was a little small for the price (may depend on what you order).

The only other issue that my wife and I found a little unsettling was when we ventured outside the resort area on our way into town (usually late afternoon), some of the sidewalk and beach vendors would try and sell us drugs (usually marijuana) after we declined to buy their cheap trinkets (bracelets, necklaces, etc.). This never happened on or near the resort. When we visited last December, this may have occurred once in two weeks. On this trip, we received these solicitations three to five times a day. My wife and I are in our late forties/early fifties and tend not to fit this type of customer profile. I am guessing since it was low season, there was more competition and these vendors try every angle to get your money. Something to consider if you’re traveling with kids or impressionable teens.

The resort was relatively quiet, and with fewer people the beach and pool areas remained uncrowded. Overall, we found the VDA to be very enjoyable and plan to return.

We went to Cabo for the first time several years ago and stayed at the sister property Villa Del Palmar and LOVED it!!! We actually did buy a time share that trip because the deal was too good to pass up. We normally never get involved in that pitch but this was a great deal. Since then we have gone to Cabo at least 3 times each year.
We always stay at VDP when we have the kids because it is much more a family resort and they take great care of all of us, and the kids love it.

When we go by ourselves there is nothing better then Arco, it is quieter, the service is a step up, the rooms are even more beautiful, the food is even better. The only down side is the service in the restaurants, it is much slower because they are creating a relaxing atmosphere. Basically the table is yours for the evening so ENJOY.

If you have never been to Mexico, it is not a fast paced world like ours. You need to take a deep breath, slow down and RELAX... They moved differently then we do, and it is for a good reason.

As a wedding gift, a family member provided us with their timeshare for a week at the Villa Del Arco. We read just about every review on tripadvisor.com before our visit and had mixed emotions on what to expect about Cabo and the hotels/resorts. However, Cabo is beautiful and the resort is amazing and very well maintained....well, we did have to wait one hour for our room to be cleaned when we arrived, but we didn't let it bother us. Rosella, the concierge, gave us free drinks as we ate at the local bar, which so happens to be a pirate ship in the middle of the pool. It allowed us to unwind from our flight and take in the sights.

THE SWEET: The room was definitely 4-star and well-appointed. The view from our room was fantastic and considering how the resort was built, every room would have an ocean and pool view. What we liked best is that the resort comprises of 3 nice hotels that offers entertainment, a swim-able beach, grocery store, deli, movie rental, restaurants, spa/gym and water sports - technically, you never have to leave the campus. We only encountered the timeshare folks about 10 times though out our stay...not bad compared some of the stories we've read. TIP - On the beach by the ME and Pueblo Bonito, they were giving away $300 cash to timeshare candidates, but we opted not to participate after going thru a 3 hour pitch at our hotel...we had given enough of our time for the perks we received (free liquor, free boat ride, free para-sailing, and discounted spa treatment). The food, the atmosphere and staff were awesome at the two restaurants at Del Arco (La Perla and EL Faro). The "wine guy" - Jose, was the absolute best. We ran into him on a trolley between resorts and he recommended a few places to check out in town and even gave us a wine tasting when we visited La Perla's that evening...thanks Jose!

THE BITTER: When we arrived, we found the water was very choppy with strong tides due to a recent storm and that made it difficult to swim, so we spent a good deal of time at the pool. Also, my husband and I both got sea-sick when para-sailing due to the rough waters. Speaking of sick - upon high recommendations of several locals and even Jose (Sorry Jose, you're still the man!)...we went into town to try Marisco Mazatlan. The food was as tasty as everyone said it would be. However, my husband caught a very bad case of food poisoning that landed him in the hospital our last couple of days in Cabo, cutting short our planned activities....(disclaimer - we narrowed it down to this restaurant, but cannot confirm 100%).

All-in-all, we had a fabulous time and we definitely return again to this resort. Hopefully our review is helpful.

Great view, beautiful beach, wonderful rooms with views, all ruined by constant sales pressure to buy a bloody timeshare! When you first check in, they ask you to step over to their "concierge" desk, which in reality is just a another pushy salesperson flogging even more timeshares. (And that's only just the beginning of it.)
Now I expected this kind of thing at the airport and in the street, but NOT while safely inside my 4 star hotel that I already spent a whack of cash on!
This could be a classy and memorable place if it wasn't cheapened by all the shady sales tactics prevalent throughout our stay.

We arrived and they couldn't find our name, even with the confirmation number. Finally after a lot of confusion and wait, they found it. We moved into our room which seemed nice. The first night, we had a flood coming through the ceiling at 4am. We called maintenance, who arrived and said they couldn't do anything about it, he had been working on the room above earlier. He did not offer to help clean it up. My husband put the waste can under the leak and we mopped up with towels. They wouldn't bring us new towels. The leak was quite loud that night. The next day we had to go back three times before they gave us a new room, and they refused to credit us the first night stay (still trying on that one). The beach is nice, but the communication and management are very poor. The restaurants are expensive but good food. However, I would not come back. Also CAUTION: the rates they initally gave us for activities were good, but then we learned we had to go to a time-share sales presentation for the rate. It was AWFUL, high pressure, took 1 1/2 hours.
