My partner and I arrived 2 hours before check-in and it seemed like they didn't know what to do with us. We fully understood that our room might not be ready. We were prepared to have lunch and maybe have a swim.

After checking in at the front desk we were sent to the "concierge" which turned out to be a time share salesperson trying to set us up with an appointment which we declined.

When we went to have lunch, we couldn't pay for our lunch because we didn't have a room number yet. Everything has to be charged to your room which is difficult to do when you don't have a room!!!

When we went to get towels for the pool, the pool girl let us a big sigh when we said we didn't have a room number yet. At this hotel, you have to check your pool towels in and out every day. We have traveled fairly extensively, including other destinations in Mexico, and have never run across this kind of system.

It was a frustrating afternoon and we didn't feel very welcome.

When we did get to our room, the televsion didn't work and there was only one bath towel. We had to call for more.

It did get better from there.

The pool and hot tubs were lovely. We found a "secret" hot tub around the side of the building. The beach was wonderful too. We enjoyed swimming in the ocean there a lot.

We had the breakfast buffet two mornings in a row. It was really nice to have traditional Mexican dishes mixed in with traditional North American breakfast choices. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

We had dinner at El Patron. We had a table outside and dinner was delicious. Our server was very gracious and attentive. He made great recommendations.

The hotel is located on a safe swimming beach which was a definite plus for us. It was also a quick cab ride to downtown and the marina.

This hotel is part of a group of properties which sells time shares. There was quite a bit of pressure to set up an appointment to listen to the spiel. We declined as we had no intention of buying a time share. We did notice and overhear a lot of salespeople giving their pitches to people.

Overall, we found Villa Del Arco adequate, but if we come back to Cabo, we would choose to stay somewhere else.

The Arco is a beautiful resort. We did a membership update with Cid and not only found a better way to use our membership, but he recommended one of our new favorite restaurants too! The view from the beach is awesome! We were in building 1 with a view of the pool and ocean from the railing. Next time, I will request the view from building three looking toward the marina. I love having a washer and dryer in the room. I didn't have to drag around a 50 lbs suitcase! The beds are super comfortable! I had a wonderful experience at the Spa! They are so professional and it is a beautiful facility!
The only improvements I would suggest would be the beach chairs need to be recovered and the music at the pool was a bit annoying (so I just moved to another area).

I planned this trip with a friend for our 3 and 5 yr old boys thinking this looked like a perfect place for kids. Our trip was a nightmare! I've traveled to Mexico a dozen times, but this was my first time to Cabo. At check in, they gave us, what they claimed was an "upgrade," it was a room facing their office wall. Litterally 10 feet away, no sunlight. I ended up getting my original "lower grade" room back instead, BUT only because I was grossed out by the stained sheets on our bed! The pirate ship that "looks" to be kid-friendly is totally a danger zone, Restaurants- DO NOT do the all-inclusive. The most bizarre "all-inclusive" dining experience.. You can eat way more, way better, for cheaper around the area. The food was mediocre, dinners were the best, but only when there were no bugs! (Read on) Resort- Looks are deceiving! First official day of hanging by the pool, the entire resort was attacked by gnats! Not exaggerating when I say ATTACKED! Millions! The pools were filled with millions of dead gnats! The drinks, the chairs, all taken over by them. The restaurants were covered with gnats. Our ENTIRE stay, all 6 days, we had to deal with gnats! They would attempt to clean some up with a small net ...when we complained, but the water remained BLACK the whole time. After we complained the whole week, on our last day, management let us know they were bringing in a machine....uhh,really, now, 6 days later??? The "all-inclusive" restaurants wouldn't even serve us because they said the gnats are all over the food. The good things? The ocean was very warm in October, however, it is rough on this part of the beach, so we had to stay on the shore. Also, the $10 boat ride was the best 2-hours we had there.

I am so sorry to hear that you went through some issues especially about the gnats during your last visit in October, in regard of this situation, we are glad to let you know that we worked very close and hard with our fumigation company reinforcing the fumigation program and procedure in our hotel and we can now say that we have eliminated this problem by actions taken by our staff. Outstanding Cabo vacation location. Walkable to downtown...but resort amenities make it hard to leave the resort itself. The service and wait staff are all top notch; we particularly enjoyed the beach and bar service provided to us by Juan Carlos Gonzales...best waiter at the resort!!

Rooms were beautiful, with lovely views of the beach and city. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. Room was always clean, the maid service did a great job of taking care of our in room needs. The on-resort restaurants were top notch as well. We would recommend the "all inclusive" option for all day drinking and eating, it winds up being a good value.

While this was a couples trip, this is a very family-friendly property, and we plan on coming back with our children next year.
