This small (24 seats) place has surprisingly good Japanese food with a different spin. Staff spoke very good English, and the chef -- Flacos -- came out to welcome us as well. Interior is nicely done: nice brick walls, nice wood floor, nice tree trunk tables & bench (with nice cushions).
Food: tataki beef filet=sauteed slices of beef w/avocado slices & a small scoop of rice. Beefy tasting w/right amount of chew. Green salad=lettuce, carrot, cuke shreds, avocado & tomato w/lightly spicy soy dressing; spice was nice. Kiubo roll=tempura shrimp, spicy krab on top, tuna &cuke inside w/spicy aji Amarillo (yellow pepper) sauce. Tempura roll=fish, avocado, cuke inside, lightly deep fried w/krab in chipotle may on top w/raspberry sauce; nicely fried &the sauce was great. California (shrimp on outside&avocado cuke inside) & spicy tuna (tuna on outside, avocado&cuke, spicy tuna on top) both fresh & interesting takes.
Finally, restroom gets 5/5 from user.
