“A piece of paradise on the beach”
Reviewed March 4, 2012

We stayed a week at this beautiful resort right on the beach about 6 miles from Cabo San Lucas. Our 1-BR unit was located at the top end of the resort in the building housing the conference center (Hillary Clinton and other foreign ministers met there the previous week preparing for June's G-20 conference in Cabo). The unit had 2 queen beds in the bedroom, a platform-style sofa bed (very comfy for our guests), well-equipped kitchen with stovetop, microwave and toaster oven, and 2 full bathrooms. The gigantic patio had a jacuzzi, lounge chairs for 4 and enough room left over for a grand piano and dance floor -- seriously! The Los Delfines pool with swim-up bar was just steps away. The other restaurants and beachside pools were much farther -- wife had a knee inujry so we made only one trip to that area (dinner at DeCortez steakhouse restaurant). Also went to Girasoles for all-you-can eat breakfast ($16.50 US) a coule times -- very good food and bottomless mimosas. Check-in was very fast and efficient. "Welcome" talk brought the expected offer for timeshare presentation, but we immediately declined, telling them we were very happy with our Worldmark membership and had no interest in additional ownership and were not asked again. Overall a beautiful resort with everything you could want for a relaxing getaway!

This was our second trip to the Cabo ( Feb 11th) area within the last 2 years. I must say the Sheraton lived up to and exceeded our expectations. The resort location is excellent (6miles) from Cabo San Lucas. When we arrived we were greeted by the most courteous, friendly, and helpful staff at the front desk. We were then taken in a four passenger golf cart to our room by one of the bell boys who was very helpful. The room overlooked the Cabo Del Sol golf course fairway with a nice panoramic view of the Sea of Cortez. The grounds are impeccable with four crystal clear pools. Tomatoes and de Cortez we found the food to be excellent. The Sea bass at De Cortez is a must, and the breakfasts at Tomatoes were consistent with a variety of choices. While on the beach each day we were greeted by the staff which took care of any need from food and drinks to umbrellas and chairs. I must say the the all-inclusive package is the way to go at this resort. You get a great bang for your buck with great steaks, seafood, and top shelf liquor. I have never done a review before, but I felt compelled to write this because the Sheraton deserves the recognition for a beautiful and very well run resort. Just as a side note there are probably very few places on this planet that you can be having breakfast and whale watching at the same time. I highly recommend this resort!!!

Room Tip: Top floor with oceanview can't go wrong

This was our second trip to Cabo having traveled 5 years ago. We traded into Hacienda Del Mar for a 3 bedroom condo via RCI. Overall, we were overwhelming pleased with this resort. And the weather was perfect Hi 80, Lo 60 each day.
The Resort: Full service. Fantastic pools, incredible views, poolside service, workout rooms (free), spa (not free), beach, beach bars/eateries. The grounds are like a well manicured garden. Beautiful and tropical. Our room was not on the beachfront, but we actually liked having a garden view (truly a garden to view) as a reprieve from our daily pool/ocean view.
The Room: The rooms are hacienda-style funishings. Terra cotta/tile. Very mexican. Our condo was bi-level with very large bedrooms, each with full bath. Very nice, but not 5 star. We had a full kitchen and a 4th full bath off the living area. Our deck was narrow, but still enjoyable. Great showers. Condo had plenty of space for 3 couples (40's - no kids) with 2 unused queen beds and one unused sleeper sofa. Furniture was nice, but not fancy. Very functional and tasteful. Kitchen was great for breakfast, lunches and appetizers (we ate out in the evening).
On-site Restaurants: More expensive, but food was very good. We ate at 4 of the restaurants: Fine dining, Mexican, Sushi, Tomatos. Had great meals consistently. Tomatos actually cooked our catch from a deep sea fishing outing (for a fee) and the meal was tremendous. We also ate out in Cabo twice (1) The Office (fun beach restaurant) and (2) La Fonda (fantastic Mexican). Recommend both.
Service: We were consistently pleased with the service level. Every time we needed something, the staff was there to assist. Very friendly. When I arrived, I reminded the desk clerk that I had emailed in advance if we could have an ocean view condo. After checking with his manager, he had a bell man take me to our assigned room and one another room (with a much better view) and allow me to choose. Ultimately, I decided the originally assigned garden view room was more spacious and still had a longer range view of the ocean. But I was impressed with the fact that they sought to accomodate my request and compare the rooms.
Other items: They have a functional sundries shop on the premises. Prices are higher, but do have a good range of snacks, drinks and food items. Beach vendors stay on the beach and are not overly pushy. Great way to get some souvenirs. Whale watching is fantastic from the beach this time of year. Golf course on the property is world class. Ocean course is worth the price to play (cheaper after 1pm). Also, great tacos ($3) at the snack bar. Worth the 1/2 mile trip to grab a few even if not playing golf. Clubhouse is a great spot for drinks or meal. Walmart is 3 miles away. Cheaper than anywhere, but if you buy American brands, the cost is still higher than the states.
Negatives: (1) Guests will reserve pool chairs early in the morning (like between 5am and 6am). The resort basically allows people to claim chairs with towels or magazines. Sometimes these chairs go unused until late in the morning. Generally, chairs were avaiable throughout the day, but not always in the best locations. By mid-afternoon, chairs are pretty plentiful. If you have 4 or more in your party, you may want to claim a group of chairs early in the morning. (2) Also, be prepared to spend some money if you use the resort facilities. The food, spa, drinks are not cheap - but all are good. They provide Happy Hour directories, so 2 for 1s help out. Also, we had a new coupon for spa services on our door almost every day. $50 off was the final one and the ladies all got the discount. (3) You are best served to rent a car if you intend to be off the resort for more than a couple of trips. We were Cabo proper 4 different days and also traveled to the store twice. Convenience and cost savings.
Summary: Great resort on a great piece of property. Much more spacious than the "in-town" resorts.

This place was wonderful! Let me give u the bad first.

1.Did not like the "time share" sales pitch right after check in but by going (about 2 1/2 hours the next day) we were able to get a free boat ride in Cabo, and 60.00 off Spa treatments and a free meal at one of the resturants on property(and u can ask for just about anything as a perk, so figure it out for yourself, some free stuff for 2 1/2 hours or not? We sat thru the presentation (and the new time share condos are very nice) but declined to get involved and we got our free stuff. If you dont want to sit for 2 1/2 hours the next morning tell the sales person after check in you are not interested and im guessing, they will leave you alone.
2.Some items were not working in the room (light fixture, jacuzzi tub, lock on sliding glass door) but one call had all of these fixed in no time (and I mean no time, we went to dinner returned and the stuff was fixed).
3.Did not like the attempted reserving of ocean side pool lounges but again one call to the Pool Concierge fixed this.
4. Beach area was clean and beautiful but I wish I could have felt safe swimming in the ocean. Heard lots of talk about rip-tides and did not want to take the chance. Too bad cause the water looked very clean (cold but clean).

The Good
1.Check in/out was fine. No problems on bill at check out, no problems with what we had reserved with check in.
2. Concierge Guillermo Ventura was outstanding! This guy goes out of his way to ensure that your stay and anything you need is attended to. Guillermo also supervises care of the pool area and if u need a lounge and all seem to have been taken with towels speak to Guillermo and he will see you have a place to sit (and as mentioned before this is a problem with folks setting out towels at 630am and not sitting down till about 10 or 11am). Guillermo also took care of reservations at the hotel and out in town and with transportation to the airport, this guy is truely fantastic, and knows what customer service is all about...Well done Guillermo!
3.Grounds and pool are very nice and well kept.
4. Spa and gym were very nice, clean, well kept.
5. I cannot say enough about the staff at this hotel. I never saw one with an attitude, spoke to one with an attitude, or saw one lacking in personality. The staff here, from the front desk, to the pool to the resturants to the grounds to the maid staff were all top-notch! All staff were attentive, happy, and went out of their way to ensure a pleasent vacation! The staff made this place. I have seen very nice hotels with rotten staff and this is the opposite. Very nice hotel with outstanding staff. Management should keep up the good work with this issue as it could make or break your Hotel reviews.

Overall worth every penny. Were the prices high? I think all of Cabo Hotels in this catagory are fairly high priced. You want economy, dont come here go to motel 6. You want fantastic customer service, well kept grounds, good food...Come here!

Room Tip: Book early to ensure ocean front room as these sell out quickly but ocean view is nice too.

Beautiful grounds, pools, and beach. Food was really good for the most part. Only complaint is there is not a llot to do at night. There is no entertainment at the hotel, although it is close enough to town for those who want to leave the reort.

This place is great. They pay careful attention to every detail. The landscaping is impeccable. The service is wonderful. The rooms are comfortable. The only downside is that they try to sell you timeshares. But we made it clear that we weren't interested when we checked in, so they left us alone.
