“A Slice Of Paradise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2006

We have just returned from a week at the Pacifica and it exceeded our expectations in every way! We stumbled upon this jewel by the sea on line and were offered a very inexpensive week's visit if we agreed to yes...you guessed it! Attend a timeshare presentation! This was my first time in Mexico and it felt like we were in the "timeshare presentation" capitol of the world! So we arrived, not exactly sure what to expect. The entrance is grand and sets the tone for the experience of the stay...sedate and stunning. Pacifica is definately the place to go if you crave quiet, simple elegance, eager to please staff and the beauty of the sea. You can walk and walk the beach without even passing anyone. By the way, the beach is fantastic to walk, sit on and simply take in the wonder of it all. They do warn you repeatedly about the danger of the water which I did not find annoying as other reviews stated but rather sweet and endearing. Pool areas are fantastic. We lunched at the pool every day (We thought the pool food was wonderful)and split a meal which then was quite reasonable. Drinks are expensive but this is an exquisite resort so what would one expect? We packed a suitcase of "beverages" and enjoyed them most of the time. Our room attendant, upon our request, graciously emptied our room bar out for the week so we could store our own drinks in it.
Speaking of beverages, we brought a small coffee pot, coffee and creamer so we could have our coffee on our balcony each morning. (I believe the suites had coffee makers but not the rooms.) We never ate at the restaurant because it did not fit our budget. On Valentine's day it was a special menu at $90.00 per person. The little gift/coffee/pastry shop on the lower level has fantastic home-made treats. I suggest buying a creme brulee filled brownie, taking it up to your room and enjoy it with coffee and amaretto! Also, the beach at sunset was a spiritual experience. If you care to make it a culinary one as well, go to the Sunset deli, buy a bottle of wine, bread, cheese and meat and enjoy it on a blanket brought from home! We did not rent a car but instead depended on the shuttle service to the Sunset and then Rose to get around. This worked fine as long as you wern't on a tight time schedule. We took a cab once I think and walked alot which was good for us! Be sure and visit Baja Cantina in the marina. The food was fantastic and very reasonable! Geraldo was our "star" at the front desk also Angelos, a hostess at the timeshare desk was wonderful. Brenda and Omar, recreation directors were awesome and we did the water arobics one day. After completion, the whole class was awarded a drink from the swim-up bar. We found that all of the staff are so happy to talk to you, do anything for you and in general there to make you happy. My husband is a major extrovert so we've come home with a bunch of new friends in Cabo! By the way the timeshare presentation to tour the Montecristo Estates was very low-key (Ashley was a great sales guy) They definately want you to buy and who wouldn't want to come back to this amazing place? Don't hesitate to do this to experience any of the Bonito resorts because I'm convinced that this company has "spectacular" written over each of it's properties! Gee...I guess you're wondering if we'd go back. In a heartbeat!

Let me preface this review by saying it was a free trip, but that not withstanding, we would have enjoyed the Pacifica even if it was not at company expense.

The location of this resort is a bit out of the way and in terms of the airport it is a good hours drive. We rented a jeep, which turned out to be a great idea.

We had a suite on the top floor with fabulous views over the Pacific. We saw so many whales, beautiful sunsets and the sound of the waves crashing at night was soothing.

The bed was extremely comfortable, service was excellent. We ate at Siempre every morning for breakfast and one evening. The food was very good, service was leisurely but not overly slow. Pool drink and beverage service was very quick and the pool food was not terribly expensive.

Only negatives that I can think of were that the coffee at Siempre was awful!! They do have coffee pots in the rooms and we brought our own coffee which we ended up taking to breakfast with us after the first morning. The gym facilities were adequate but you felt like you were in a cave. I much preferred walks on the beach for my workout.

We would highly recommend the Pacifica.

We were very pleased that the hotel lived up to our expectations for a calming, relaxing, carefree vacation. This hotel is for adults who want to escape and just relax from the stresses of daily life. The hotel property is designed to be elegantly simple and calming in nature. The staff are very gracious and the service was excellent.

The hotel is located on the Pacific side and right on the beach. The setting is great, but of course, you must know that swimming in the Pacific is very dangerous due to the extreme rip currents. For us, this was not an issue, as we were perfectly happy to be poolside. Hotel dining is good and you can take a shuttle to their nearby sister hotel, Pacific Sunset and dine in La Frida or their other less expensive cafe. Nothing in Cabo is cheap so expect to pay $22 to $40 for an entree. The spa on property is wonderful and the spa treatments are some of the best we have had.

If you are looking for night life, or want to be close to town for shopping, eating, or nightlife, staying at this hotel may not be your best choice. The hotel is isolated away from the main town and beach resorts. (which frankly, we liked) The property is a $12 cab ride from town and about 45 minutes from the airport. Watch out for the time share sales pitch. When you check in a "hostess" will greet you after you have checked in and will invite you to have a complimentary breakfast at the Sunset property and after a few questions you will realize they want to present to you information about the new time shares they are building at the Sunset. You will be offered $150 per couple credit for food and beverages if you listen to a 90 minute presentation. It turns out to be more like 2 hours plus. We did it and received all our "gifts" for doing so. It's up to you.

Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to kick back, relax, and have quiet time together.

My fiance and I stayed at the Pacifica this past weekend and it's an oasis! It's a small resort with big service!! As soon as you walk into this hotel you smell lavendar aromas, and the bathrooms are the same. Everywhere you go you hear running water and at night they have fire kettles at the beach front. We stayed in their basic room, but it was charming and not excessive. The room had a beautiful view and a private balcony. We ate there for most of our meals and it was marvelous!! Chef Cruz made us a soup to order when my fiance didn't want the cream based soup. We were more than happy to order something else, but the chef insisted on honoring our request. Our waiter at the pool, Fernando, was great!! The pools are very relaxing, espcially since children are not allowed at this resort!! Manuel in the wine bar was very helpful and sugested that we take a tequila tasting class that they offered there, even though we weren't tequila drinkers, and what a great suggestion! We had fun and met some nice couples that were there. Oscar was our waiter at Siempre in the hotel and always greeted us by name and gave us excellent service!! I can't stress enough how good the food is!

The concierge Magda was also very helpful, as was all the staff!! We have no complaints at all!!!

We will be going back to Pacifica very soon! It's so relaxing and the spa services make sure of that!! Definitely get a massage and use their spa while you're there!!
Pacifica could be our tradition!

Stayed at the pacifica for five nights in December and loved every minute of it. Tranquility and calm with incredible service - we didn't want to come home. The concierges were extremely helpful and everyone we came in contact with was gracious and seemed happy to help. Everyone says the food is very expensive, but I'm from NY - didn't seem over the top to me. Had two divine massages on the beach. Workout space is adequate, but they need to get some smaller freeweights. The pools are very well kept and clean, and we enjoyed the no children policy which kept the pool area very quiet and relaxing.

This hotel offers excellent service without the frills that you're going to find at Ventanas, but at a much more reasonable price. The minimalist decor is still warm and inviting. Rooms were beautifully decorated, kept extremely clean. Balconies offered a splendid view of the ocean and sunset.

I can't recomment Pacifica more highly. It is a great place for couples or groups of adults looking for a relaxing vacation.

Definitely recommend renting a car, driving into San Jose del Cabo and to restaurants.

We got roped into the timeshare presentation unfortunately. A promised hour and a half turned into three hours of irritation. Not worth it.

Negatives:
I really have to be picky to find anything to complain about concerning this resort. All I can tell you is that management truly cares about your experience and apparently pays attention to this website. Almost all prior complaints were resolved by the time of my vacation. To be honest, I have very few negatives to report except that the service around the pool could be a little more attentive and polished. Some of the employees were very receptive, others simply "hung out" around the grill. Also, the concierge service was OK at best. Wine selection not so good and overpriced.

Positives:
Where do I begin....To start. The ambiance is perfect. No matter how crowded, the resort always seems quiet and open. No kids. The pool is beautiful and huge for the resorts size...great sunset...great big beach (no, you can not swim in the water...strong riptides). The room is modern and very clean. The balcony is A+. The service is very good. The restuarant is very good. They'll even cook fish you caught for you special if you request. All rooms are ocean view except maybe bottom floor. The service was very good. There are comments concerning drink prices. I think they are overblown. It's a resort. $12 (12oz pina) $4 beer. In the end, I'll be back. I travel a lot and it exceeded my expectations.

Place to go:
Food - Panchos and Mi Pablo for authentic mexican. Cabo Wabo is a must for evening entertainment.

Activities: Fishing. One of the best places on the planet for Striped Marlin.

Tips: Go into town in the evening for a different dining experience - Ask the taxi at the resort "how much" prior to departing...prices seem to vary... $15 is plenty one way. - Use drink coupons you receive at check-in for more expensive drinks, not beer. - Plan on 1 hour for travel from airport to resort - Ask for a room on the southeast side of the resort for a better sunset view - You have a small refrigerator.. buy some alchohol and breakfast food to store to save money.

My girlfriends and I stayed at the Pacifica late Nov/early Dec last year. The hotel was nice & quiet, which was exactly what we wanted. They told us during check-in that the hotel was fully occupied, but it didn't feel that way. We were able to get a good spot by the pool(s) without a fight. We also had lunch several times at the hotel and the food was delicious. Our only complaint was that there wasn't a wide selection of vegetarian/healthy entrees being that this is a "holistic" hotel. We also signed up for the yoga & pilates classes they offered in the mornings. We enjoyed the yoga class, but the pilates class was far from being a real pilates class (the instructor was sweet, but incorporated too many aerobic/dance moves). The other downer is that these classes are not free and cost as much as yoga/pilates classes in NYC. Be warned that the hotel is the last one on the beach "strip" so that it is only convenient if you rent a car. The road from the front gate to the lobby of the hotel is a good 10 minutes drive alone. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to relax & enjoy los Cabos.
