“top notch service”
Reviewed July 27, 2010

On my first trip to Los Cabos I was placed at this hotel by my clients, and returned 2 weeks later again for another client event. In the past, I had just stayed in the Fiesta American Puerto Vallarta and was not that impressed, so my expectations coming to the Grand Los Cabos were a bit lowered. All I can say is, 'wow', what a difference!
The drive from the airport took about 25 minutes and the hotel is located along the corridor about 10 minutes outside of San Lucas and the Marina area. The drive in to the resort was stunning as you pass through the Cabo del Sol golf course to a private area where the resort is located.
Service was some of the best I have found in my worldwide travel. This resort truly captures Mexican hospitality and presents it in a 4 diamond way. On my second trip in the same month, the bellman and the front desk clerk both remembered me from my previous stay, and were appreciative of the return business. My room, albeit not 'modern' had a very nice AND very clean upscale Mexican decor. Trust me, at this Resort the best place to be is out by the amazing pool and the secluded beach. The amenities are truly first-class and everyone is eager to accommodate all requests from food to drinks to cutting some fresh aloe vera for the sunburn I got! The restaurants were very good, and the quality and presentation were fantastic. You will not find any old food and drink at this higher-end hotel. This is an experience.
I definitely will use this resort property and recommend it to future friends and colleagues. There are plenty of choices in Los Cabos, but the F.A. Grand has figured out the secret to happy customers... great customer service AND creating a guest experience that provide fantastic memories.

This was my fourth stay at Fiesta Americana Los Cabos. Although I have enjoyed every trip there, I was completely blown away at how much the property has improved in the last few years. While other hotels in the Corridor have cut their budgets, the Fiesta Americana has gone out of their way to improve all aspects of the guest's experience.

What's most impressive is the care and attention the hotel is paying to details. Landscaping is lush and beautifully maintained. Everything is freshly painted. Staff are constantly cleaning...anything and everything in site. Towels are rolled-up and decorated with an orchid and available by each pool.

If I had one complaint before, it was the food at the hotel. It was expensive and the beachfront restaurant wan't open for dinner. Menus have been redone with a wider seleciton and more reasonable options and best of all you can now eat by the beach and enjoy the ocean while having dinner.

We had two amazing dinners during out stay. The first was the Paella Buffet set up on the beach. It included, of course, delicious paella, side dishes, a welcome Margarita and unlimited Sangria. With the waves crashing, live guitar music playing and the great food, it was a romantic, beautiful dinner. The second was at the Rosata restaurant, the fine dining choice at Fiesta Americana. We had the tasting menu and for around $70 got three courses paired with wine plus dessert. Our waiter, Pedro, provide top level service and attended to our every need.

All the staff were friendly and accomodating. We especially enjoyed Eduardo's Mojitos at the 6 - 7 Happy Hour at the Lobby Bar. Ricardo, the Banquet Manager was helpful in our dining choices and the general manager was available, gracious and helpful as well.

The property is a bit remote so if you want to go into town frequently to eat, shop at Costco or party, rent a car at the airport. A line of rental companies is found by the baggage claim and I was able to find a car for $270 for week including full, no-deductable insurance. If you're a bit adventurous and want to save some money, you can walk 10 minutes to the main road from the hotel and catch the local bus into town.

Ultimately this hotel is about relaxing, however. The views are great - you'll see dolphins, jumping stingrays, and Maui-blue water. Everyone is friendly and this is a perfect place to spend some time unwinding and taking it easy.

Nice hotel and a great value. The staff was friendly, the rooms were nice and the beach was beautiful (although the ocean is very rough at this beach).

We travelled to Cabo San Lucas from Sydney, Australia for our honeymoon. We had read and heard so much about Cabo and did a lot of research on Trip Advisor to finally settle on this hotel.

We were very happy with our choice as the hotel and surroundings are beautiful. It was a great choice for a honeymoon destination as it was hot, relaxing and quiet. During the day there were always pool chairs available and there seemed to be more honeymooners than families staying at the resort. The pool staff were great (especially Carlos) - remembering our names without referring to our room number each day and always checking we were hydrated and comfortable.

We also enjoyed the restaurants available. The Peninsula was a real fine dining experience with great quality food, overlooking the beautiful and warm fire pit. It set a very romantic atmosphere. There was also one night during the week of our stay where they held a traditional mexican night, complete with full buffet dinner and night markets. The food was delicious, exactly what you want when in mexico! The other restaurants were closed at the time of our stay which was a bit disappointing, meaning we had to return to the same restaurant multiple times. However, we did venture out into town for a dinner at Mi Casa and I highly recommend this restaurant for a true mexican experience. Complete with live music, yummy food and singers. The margeritas are also a must!

The Wine Spa situated at Fiesta Americana was so beautiful and relaxing I highly recommend at least one visit during your stay. Although it is pricey, it is worth treating yourself just once.

Overall, the hotel was clean and the service was friendly. The only thing I felt slight disappointment in was the fact that we had no fancy treatment as honeymooners. No welcome drinks, flowers, champagne or chocolates. Although it was not a big deal, it would have been a nice addition to our stay.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel using our Hilton HGV points so this review for the rooms does not extend to the normal hotel rooms. This was our third time to Cabo but our first to this hotel. The grounds were beautiful with nice pools and jacuzzis. Our room had a nice beach view, however, the balconies were almost non-existent. We took a studio room to use less of our points. Our friends stayed at a 3 bedroom and that was definitely much nicer (basically two studios with a huge living room, full kitchen, and big balcony). The rooms are definitely older (some plumbing problems along with smaller bathrooms). The biggest problem with the room is the archaic airconditioning system. It's very loud and inefficient. Also, keep in mind that they are still doing some construction so some rooms can be a bit louder than others. The poolside food was great and the hotel staff were very friendly. Carlos was especially great (poolside server). Great firepit to sit by at night. The beach cabanas were beautiful. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again. However, if the rates are close, I would go with the Hilton Los Cabos (where we stayed the last two times). Better rooms and a bit classier.

This Hotel is divided in two different section one is the Club and the other one is the Hotel, we stayed at the Club side on a one bedroom premium unit (with a Hot tub on the balcony), the view is perfect, the firendliest staff ever!!! they were always willing to help, the internal transpotation is ok (golf carts) you just have to call the reception and ask for it and you will it in less than 5 min.

The location is perfect, inside Cabo Sol, where the best golf course in Latin-America is.(ranked number 78 in the world)

Contact Cabo Adventure for tours, they are super proffesional

Best food in town at APOSTOLI (San Jose del Cabo), food at the hotel is ok but still hotel food.

My best advise rent a car (make an online reservation it is cheaper) taxi services will run ~30-50 USD per trip i paid 172 for 5 days on AVIS during Memorial weekend.

Being a Hilton and Fiesta clubs member i have visted most of their developments, so far this one is the best one

PROS:
* The hotel is in a beautiful spot, even though the beach is not "swimable" - but you have 5 wonderful pools instead.
* The breakfast at the restaurant Viña del Mar is delicious but expensive, try to find a deal on Travelocity, or Expedia, or Orbitz... they sometimes give you a discount when you book through them (otherwise the breakfast buffet is $30 per person).
* The waiters are very friendly and attentive, but the service may be a bit slow, which we do not mind when we are on vacation.
* The restaurant Peninsula is very romantic at night and the food was very good - my only comment is that the food is expensive if you want to dine in the hotel every day. They lack a less elegant/expensive option.
* The golf courses look amazing (I didn´t get the chance to play) - although I have heard green fees are expensive unless you find an afternoon discount, or low-season deal - both worthwhile looking for because they look really good!
* The spa is wonderful (expensive but worth it).
* They offer free valet parking

CONS:
* The people at the reception desk are not nice - if you give them a suggestion they take it as an insult
* The air-conditioning in our room was very loud - you get used to it after a while but it can be aggrevating
* The shower has great water pressure, but the temperature of the water varies constantly from cold to very hot in seconds. It is impossible to accomodate it.
* The entrance to the hotel from the highway that connects Cabo San Lucas to Cabo San Jose is not visible - you have to come in through Caso Sol (a neighbooring resort) but there is no signs for Fiesta Americana.
* You have to paty to get access to the Internet - they do not have free wi-fi anywhere in the hotel

Other recommendations for Los Cabos:
* Try Marisquería Mazatlán in Cabo San Lucas - we loved it (and it is not expensive, very good and fresh seafood - where locals eat).
* Snorkeling at Piedra Pelícano is not worhtwhile - this is a rock very close to the arch (this you have to see) where they take you for snorkeling, but it is full of boats and people so there is not much to see - they recommend Santa Lucía Beach for better snorkeling (and it is closer to the hotel).
* We do not recommend La Panga Restaurant in San José - it is expensive and the food is not good.
