“Wonderful Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2011

It has been a while since we were here and I am missing it terribly! We stayed in the time share portion of the resort and it was spectacular. We had an incredible view facing South and even awoke one morning to a small pod of whales about 1/4 mile out from shore. They were to far to identify they type but it was still pretty cool.

It is true the beach for the hotel is very rocky and not a lot of fun, but just to the east of the hotel is an incredible beach that is used by a lot of local families for there day at the beach. It took us maybe 15 minutes to walk over but it was well worth it. It can be a pretty long walk to main building of the hotel for meals, but the room service is really good and cheaper than a lot of restaurants here in the states (they don't seem to charge a premium for room service, it is the same pricing as in the restaurants.)

The best was our room was directly behind some of the most rocky parts of the shore line so with the balcony doors open all we could hear were the waves crashing against the rocks. This combined with the nonstop breeze really made this one of the best places I have had the opportunity to visit.

PS The staff and food were both wonderful as well, but that is expected at a resort of the quality.

Overall this hotel is nice but we had a dark basement room. There are much nicer rooms so check in to this when making reservations.

The winning part of this hotel is its beach accommodations! The beach is rocky and interesting to watch and at certain times a day you can actually snorkel from the beach. The beach chairs are the most comfortable I have ever seen and you can even rent a cabana for the day which is great if you have a large group of people.

The hotel is on a hillside which makes going to and from areas quite the climb but the staff is more than happy to take you anywhere in a golf cart. The restaurants are nice but very limited and there isn't really any entertaining to speak of. To take advantage of anyplace outside of the resort you will need a car which I highly recommend.

If your goal is to sit in a comfy beach chair under an umbrella from morning until night while having great service bring you food and drink this is a great place to visit!

I am and Amex Platinum Card holder and I used the concierge service to book this hotel. I was skeptical as I usually stay at 5 star 5 diamon in the states when on vacation. I checked this website and others before booking to ensure that it was going to be a great trip as it was my honeymoon. My wife and I were blown away with the service and quality of the food the whole week. I ventured off the resort only twice to see the other high end resorts for dinner and drinks and spa (just to see if we did well). This resort is as good asthe One and Only Palmilla or Esperanza for food and service and my wife liked the Wine Spa at Fiesta better than Palmilla. The GM took care of us when we had a situation that came up and I will definately come back the next time i visit Cabo.

My wife and i and our 8 month old son stayed for a week to attend a weekend cme conference. Great room with powerful a/ c. Beautiful property and wonderful pools. Excellent service and very friendly staff. Our favorites were the nightly fire on the beach with acoustic guitar player and the view from the hotel lounge bar. Wife really enjoyed an afternoon in the spa.

Restaurants on the property are good but can be expensive and there was construction going on nearby. The other thing we found curious was the daily call to our room asking if wanted housekeeping service despite having the "privacy please" hanger on our doorknob...disrupted nap time.

Regardless, definitely a place to recommend and return!

I booked this Hotel through hotwire so I got a great price for it!
Try to visit los Cabos in low season (June/July) but beware that this also hurricane season according to the locals

Putting this aside this is a great hotel.
If you are looking for some rest and don't be bother by other people this is the place.
And the staff is friendly and helpful.

If you stay here I would suggest that you rent a car at the airport so you can go to downtown or buy goods at the super market.

The restaurants at this facility are a little bit overpriced, but if you visit the super market you can get essential goods like fruit or cookies.

Room Tip: Book your room using hotwire

We have a timeshare with Fiesta Americana. We switch back and forth between the Coral Beach in Cancun and here. We love Cabo and Fiesta Americana. We have always found the rooms and property to be spotless. The service is first rate and the restaurants on the premises have some of the best food you'll ever eat. In the summer the beach is awesome with warm water and great snorkeling right from the shore. In winter, the water is too chilly for the fish I guess. This is a timeshare property, so if you don't want to sit through the 90 minute sales pitch, don't. You don't have to. If you choose to, you'll get some great coupons to use during your visit.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights, 3 of which were as part of a business incentive trip (other 2 days were on our own, with friends). So we did not choose this hotel, but we are glad we had the opportunity to stay here. We will likely come back someday.

This property really surprised us - in a positive way. As other reviewers have mentioned, the grounds are exquisite, with mature tropical desert landscaping which fits nicely with the Cabo environment. The way the several swimming pools meander around the property adds to the feel of a desert oasis.

We would stay here again, and recommend this property for couples, groups of friends and for families with smaller children. Singles might not like that the property is a bit isolated from the "action" of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose (though the resort is in a very upscale golf community), and is rather quiet, especially at night. We also saw some families with teenagers, and the teens looked a bit bored once they got their dose of the swimming pools. But it's perfect for smaller kids who will want to spend all day around the pool areas. They also have a Kids Club for those interested (we never saw any kids there, though).

Shuttle service to Cabo San Lucas runs hourly, I think at a cost of $10 pp. Reasonable. We would often take the shuttle to town, then pay a bit more for a taxi to take us back to the hotel. Not too far away from San Lucas to make this practical (a 15 minute cab ride).

What we liked most about the Fiesta Americana Grand:
* The beautiful grounds! Mature tropical trees and flowers everywhere. Pools nicely integrated into the whole. Beautiful views of the beach and coast everywhere.

* The many pools and "hidden" hot tubs scattered throughout the property. The main infinity pool area got a bit busy in the afternoon (it's where most of the families and larger groups hung out), but it was always easy to find a quiet area to hang out by one of the other pools. There are many iguanas that hang out on the rocks around the pools, including one really big alpha male -- always entertaining.

* The fancy restaurant (forget the name) just above the beach is really amazing at dinner. We had a very memorable dinner there. Not cheap, but worth the splurge for a nice meal or two. Upscale, creative Modern Mexican with a twist. Hats off to the chef. Reliably good for lunch, though the limited menu options got a bit monotonous after a few days.

* Mostly friendly, helpful and genuine service. The bartenders at the swim-up bar mixed great drinks, and there is regular pool service if you're lounging about during the day.

* The spa is really impressive. Check out the outdoor pavilions for couples massage. The are semi-open pavilions on the top floor of the main building, with impressive views of the coast and warm sea breezes drifting through. The spa itself is also great, with hot and cold plunge pools, sauna/steam, etc.

Things to be aware of before coming here:
* Beach, like most in the Cabo area, is not really swimmable. Rocky water entry. Conditions were calm when we were there, but I would imagine with any sort of swell, it could be dangerous, too. The beach above the water is actually very sandy, but it's a rough, coral and sandstone blend that is hard to walk on. Better to look at and lounge in the beachfront cabanas and palapas than to actually enjoy for swimming. If you're a huge beach person and must have a swimmable beach, maybe not the best place for you. But this didn't bother us, as the pools were so nice to swim in anyway. And the beach is very picturesque, with its sandstone outcroppings and rocky shoals.

* Room decor could be a little more commensurate with the quality of the outdoor areas. Very comfortable, but also pretty basic -- white stucco walls, a single simple painting hung on one wall. Nice materials in the bathroom but a small tub; not the type of luxury bathroom one normally expects with this level of property. That's not to say this bothered us much, either, as we spent most of our time outside the room. But the rooms are not 5-star, more like 3.5 or 4-star in terms of decor and materials.

* Even if you pay in Mexican Pesos, the hotel charges in US Dollars, then converts back to Pesos at a very unfavorable rate. So you are going to pay here. That said, we got a good group rate on the room, and I'm sure deals are to be had on the daily room rate, even given the extra gouging from taxes, low conversion rates, etc.

All in all, this is a great property and we highly recommend!

Room Tip: Get room toward front of property for better views
