Our stay was great with the resort the first day was a little stressful but by no means the resorts fault. Bookit. Com decided not to pay them upon our arrival in which I had copies of it being paid in full to bookit.com I had to email bookit. Com to please pay as at first the resort wanted to charge us again for the week and have us try to get our money back from bookit, as it turned out after a stressed first day it turned out they handled it with bookit and never bothered us again. And the resort was grand, people were great and helpful the spa top notch and room service kept plenty of everything in supply in our room, location you couldn't ask for better. Would go back in a heartbeat,,

We arrived the end of November for a week. The property is on a large expanse of ocean front and the property is very well maintained. The pools are large with many lounge chairs and there are cactus gardens which we really enjoyed. The beach is groomed and also has many lounge chairs. You cannot swim in the water but there are beaches you can swim at close by. One plus was being within walking distance to downtown. The location of this resort is great.
The not so good: the food was not very good except at the beach house for lunch and supper. This was a bit of a disappointment for us as we stayed at sandos cancun last year where the food is the best we have had at an all inclusive. Hopefully finisterra will learn from their cancun location for meals.
Beach towel exchange was ridiculous. Once again last year when we stayed at sandos cancun there was a beach towel hut where you would go in the morning for beach towels and when you were done you would give them back to the beach hut or even get dry ones if need be. At finisterra you had to take your wet towels back up to your room and hope the poor maid would make her way to your room around 7:30 pm to exchange your towels. If the maid did not show up you had to go down to the front desk where they would argue with you about how many beach towels you should get.
Check in at front desk was not a good experience as it took a very long time and they nearly took blood before we finally got our room (part of this was a sly time share sell which we refused). Staff at check in were not helpful and always acted as if they were being put out by dealing with hotel guests. (The waiting staff work very hard working especially at the beach restaurant, one such staff I think was Fernando although all the staff at the two restaurants by the beach were great). Again finisterra front desk should learn from sandos cancun as that front desk in Cancun was phenomenal. They went to such lengths in cancun at front desk that cancun staff should train finisterra.
All in all this could be better than sandos cancun because of the great resort grounds. They need to really work on the above and just really bring the standards up to those of Sandos cancun.

Room Tip: The ocean view rooms are still old but were adequate. The marina view rooms are new but it is an ups...

Dear Mr.DtotheK;

We thank you for reviewing your stay at Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos, we are happy to have the opportunity to get back to you, thank you for the note stating that you enjoyed your meal at Tortuga Beach restaurant. Also we would like to let you know that we have addressed your concerns to all our staff.

Regarding the pool towels exchange, we will revise what did not work correctly, we do have beach towels to be delivered to the rooms, our ecological program is created with the intention to reduce the amount of towels used daily, the used towels can be left around the pool or placed at the hut located in the first pool, our housekeeping will place clean towels in all occupied room, we are sorry if it did not worked this way.

We’re sorry if your check-in at the Front Desk took longer than expected and that the staff was not as courteous as in Cancun, and definitely we take your suggestions seriously, will address your comments to improve in this area.

We really appreciate your comments, and if possible please contact us at the hotel, we will be more than happy to speak to you in person, We have sent to you a private message please reply to us if you consider it convenience.
Once again our sincere apologies, looking forward to hear from you.

Warm regards from Cabo!

My wife and I have been coming to the Finisterra for well over 20 years. We remember the glory days, witnessed the decline and are still around for the potential rebirth. The site itself is spectacular. The resort straddles a ridge looking over the vastness of the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Marina on the Sea of Cortez side on the other. We come every year around Thanksgiving. We were here last year for the very early stages of the Sandos Ownership Transfer. We went through the timeshare presentation(typical) and declined to purchase.

As we were arriving at the property this year, my wife and I were talking about what changes, if any, we would see at the resort. We were hoping that our friends, Freddy, Jorge and Alvaro were still there. Barb, my wife, was going to be very disappointed if they were gone. Freddy and Jorge were there! They met us at the lobby door with a big smile and a hearty welcome back. They each gave my wife a kiss on the cheek and she teared up. Actually teared up. I guess we were worried about how much change was going to happen. The bell staff is always a highlight to our trip. They are the face of the Finisterra and it would be amazing if the rest of the staff, especially management, had their enthusiasm and attitude. It is like greeting family, only better.

Our room wasn't ready as we were very early, about 10 am, so we stowed our luggage and toured the facility. A lot has changed and most for the better. They have taken advantage of the great Marina views and installed a spa (very nice), a workout facility that looks out over the sea of cortez (also very nice) and a coffee/cupcake/breakfast shop over what used to be the parking lot. All very well done. The old rooms that straddled the ridge have also been remodeled, or perhaps better stated, REDONE. They basically dynamited out the interiors and started over. Very nice. The pool area was also restored to its old glory. Over the last decade or so, the pool area had been steadily deteriorating. The lounge chairs were tattered or just plain broken. All that has been fixed. Pools have been resurfaced? with all new lounge chairs and covered bed areas. The middle pool is heated and more of the hot tub areas are actually hot. The activities people are young, energetic and able to get people off their butts and into the pool. We are listening to the music from our balcony and watching a rousing game of volleyball as I type this. Vast improvement over past years. The pool area had been turning into a ghost town over the years. It has most definitely be reenergized.
The wifi has been improved as well. We have gotten good, relatively high speed internet throughout our stay from our room. In years past, we had to go to the lobby to check email or occasionally sit in the hallway outside our room to catch some of the lobby signal. Another welcome improvement.

The one, or perhaps two exceptions are the disco and the old whalewatchers perch. For the old timers here, the whalewatchers bar was a highlight and the private room outside the bar built into the Cliffside was a highlight and a once or twice a year tradition for our group nights. It has been basically built around and is unusable. No service to it and no chairs to sit in even if you could get service to it. The disco that replaces the Whalewatchers Bar is kind of a joke. The carpet is covered in a psychodelisized version of a British flag and the chairs are covered in a similar color scheme but different pattern. Very off putting. Not just us, as we stuck our nose in there on two of the nights we were here and there wasn't anybody in there.

Overall all though, the renovation is exactly what some of us old timers envisioned and hoped would happen to this wonderful property.

The biggest drawback, for us, is the all-inclusive nature of the resort. We come to Cabo to enjoy Cabo, not just the resort. The Finisterra is located so close to the marina and within walking distance of so many great restaurants that it would be a shame to check into the resort and never leave, which the all-inclusive kind of encourages you to do. A lot of resorts are converting over to all-inclusive. To my skeptical and suspicious mind, it appears to be the old time share resorts that are done selling, have squandered the upfront money and are grasping for added income. Service seems to be declining and has a different feel to it. You can't pay cash for anything. There are no prices on the menu. You are encouraged to eat at the buffet which has very typical buffet quality food. Not exactly our cup of tea, but they were busier this year with a decidedly younger clientele than in years past, so maybe it is just us........

Room Tip: higher rooms on the lobby side of the resort are quieter and have good wifi signal

Decided to take a spur of the moment trip to Cabo, chose the Sandos Finisterra. Place was great, short walk down to the Marina area, great beach front on the Pacific Side. Enjoyed doing all inclusive, food was good, drinks were great, the Disco rocked out and the outdoor band was great. If you are an espresso junkie the Cupcake will make your day! You can lay out on the beach and not be bothered by vendors selling their wares, nice change. I can't wait to see it when their remodel is done, if it anything like the new units for the vacation club owners it will terrific! Whales were just starting to go by. Next time we go we will be taking friends and family.

I had a great trip and I really enjoyed my stay at Finisterra! It's a nice place if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation. But, when you're ready to party it's only a 10 minute walk to the bars in Cabo which are always crazy. The pools were great but I wish they stayed open later. They all close at 8pm. Even if it was just a hot tub that was open 'til late that would be cool. Food was really good at each restaurant, not amazing, but really good. The bars were good, and the drinks didn't seem too watered down (you could always ask for a float of tequila on top, that did the trick), but I wish they had a bar open late besides the disco. The disco was always super loud even if there wasn't a soul in the joint (one night the entertainment staff got a bunch of us to do karaoke, which was super fun. Other than that the disco was pretty sleepy). Sometimes you just want to have a beer and chill out. The wait staff was great, the pool staff were great too. I don't feel like you need to tip extra to get good service, but you'll get such good service that they definitely deserve a tip. The room was OK. At the front desk I asked for a recently remodeled room and was told that all the rooms had recently been renovated. Our room was not renovated, and I heard construction on a few days, nothing major but it's not cool to say that they've all been remodeled and find that this is not the case. They pressure you pretty hard at first to check out the "vacation club" (timeshare) but if you're firm they'll leave you alone. All in all it was a great vacation and we had an amazing time. If there were a pool/hot tub open late, and more options to grab a drink in the evening this would have been a five start rating.

Room Tip: I wouldn't pay extra for a Marina View. If you want to see the sunset from your room you'll...

1st impression!!! Whoa this is NICE & HUGE. The 3 pools are very nice and the pool boys constantly check the ph levels. Good music, not to loud not to quite. There was plenty of seating and beds for lounging. My only complaint.. 1 bar! and it's at the "adult only pool", but hey... walking wasn't no biggy for me. Just woulda been nice to have another swimup bar.
The Kids club ran by Marisol was VERY VERY nice, she was amazing and our daughter woke up each morning wanting to go see her and do the crafts / build things/ color etc. Marisol let us know each day and every couple of hours as we checked in what their plans were. Thank you Marisol!
Alex the "tan man" was a blast. He made everyone feel comfortable and did more than enough to get people to play the games and participate in activities day and night. Mucho Gracias Alex!
David was our main bartender that went out of his way to make any drinks and our get what we needed promtly. Thanks David.
The food was OK?? the drinks were cold. We ate across at the pier most of the time.
My only complaint would be the "management people" (blue shirts) they eyed us like we were not supposed to be there. From what we heard they are trying to make this resort an all-inclusive resort. Our family has had a timeshare with "Finisterra" for 20 yrs or so. Management tried to get us to sign up on the 1st day, but I let them know they are talking to the wrong person... Sandos gave out blue, black, and purple wristbands to the "all-inclusive" people, but for us.... we had nothing, we looked like we didn't belong? My recomendation for the hotel/resort for those that don't do the all-inclusive thing... give them a bright color band so they don't feel like an outcast but still belong.
All in all... I'd go back, but probably bring my own cooler! A big THANK YOU TO Marisol, Alex and David!!! You all made our trip a BLAST. Sincerly "Jimmy the white boy from Jamaica"!!!

Trying to spend a nice birthday evening with friends who were staying at Finisterra turned into a major downer. Had to pass inspection at the gate and were "welcomed" by a security guard in the lobby asking what we were doing there if we were not guests. We notified our freinds that we were waiting for them in the lobby since we were not even allowed to sit on the the patio, without paying a $60.00 per person pass. !!!!! Couldn't go to the bar, restaurant or their room to enjoy the bottle of champagne they had brought with them. We had a guard standing nearby the entire time. The GM came over to ask if there was a problem and immediately saw my displeasure and made notes of the experience. We ended up taking the champagne with us to a nearby restaurant and enjoyed it with dinner. Flabbergasted by the lack of hospitality, etc. Understanding the problem of thievery, security needs to be aware, but this was ABSURD! I recall the beautiful views from the bar years ago and will try not to erase them now with this time. Sad. Cabo has lost so much of its magic..... shame. More like Miami or Cancun than the romantic getaway it once was. Construction or demolition on every other block. Choose your hotel carefully. We are staying in town via a very good online deal, and thankfully some of the local bars below our Suite are closed or we would not have gotten any sleep whatsoever.

Dear Caria4077;

We are sorry for the situation you went through while visiting your friends at out resort.
Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos it’s an All-Inclusive resort, therefore, we offer visitors to purchase a day pass to have access to the different areas and restaurants.
We apologize once again for the circumstance, but in All Inclusive Resorts any visit has to be previously coordinated with the reception or concierge.

We hope that you understand that we do have a lot of guests that because of proximity of the marina will always love to invite friends to come along.

Kindest regards from Cabo.
