We bought our first timeshare at the Finisterra in 1994 and have bought three more weeks since then. All of our weeks were in the "old" section--our favorite place despite aging problems and minimal updating. Never have we been disappointed with the cleanliness of our rooms nor the helpfulness of the staff, many of whom have been at the Finisterra since we started coming to Cabo. The staff has remained positive and are some of the kindest, most helpful we have met. We consider them friends, and hope the new owners realize that the employees are what have kept things running (not the owners) despite all of the negative comments that have been posted. Please do not let any of them go! They have ALWAYS made our visits wonderful, despite the lack of maintenance in some areas. Employees can only do so much without funding from a politician owner. But we all overlooked problems because of them!

Our biggest fear now is that we will be forced to buy into an all-inclusive plan for our meals. Besides loving to cook, I and my husband love to patronize all of the easily accessible small restaurants downtown. We will be asking the new resort owner to please not force us into the all-inclusive meal plans. If one is staying on the corridor, then it might make sense; for those of us staying at the Finisterra, this does not! Rather, they should offer discounted prices to owners, and maybe we will then voluntarily choose to eat one or two meals a day at the resort. We love the happy hours (best drinks around), the Finisterra Nachos are the best in Cabo, and the calamari at the pool are super!

As I said, it's been a great time; I hope it will continue to be so until our contracts expire.

Dear Sharon WI,

Thank you kindly for your comments. As you can read from other responses we will have the option for our current members to stay with their actual program with no obligation to purchase the new All Inclusive program.
But at the same time, we invite you to take the time to learn where we are heading with Sandos and all the benefits that this will bring the new members. Many that had similar feelings and perception as the value of the All Inclusive program once they see for themselves the savings and improvements being made are convinced that it will help them save and still have the freedom to go into town and enjoy it.
We hope that during your next visit you can take the time to hear and see for yourselves.

Best wished for this Holiday Season and see you soon in Cabo.

My husband and i were at the finisterra oct 15-26th We had a wonderful time even though we experienced part of a tropical storm The employess that were able to make it to work did everything they could to keep us safe and cared for..The weather was perfect and hot.The hotel is going through changes because sandos is involved in transforming it into an all inclusive starting march 1st.Ramon in sales took the time to show me a remodeled unit as well as pictures of the new additions. He was very knowledgeable and polite. We got to releaseover 500 baby turtles on two occasions. We would go back in a heartbeat, even with the all inclusive. Its close to the marina and all it has to offer. The serenity of the pacific side cant be compared when you go to the medano side and see how crowded it is. There are new plans for more restaurants i hear and a new pool and repair of the old ones. It will be fantastic We especially liked to see the same wait staff as before at the pool-moises,abraham and joel They work hard to keep a smile on their face.Make sure to tip well ,this is what they live on to feed their families. The maids do a terrific job in keeping the place clean.Remember to tip them as well.Try the calamari at the pool it is to die for!At the whale watcher bar the view is incredible .I am very excited about the new plans as it has needed help for a long while and now it is finally getting the love it deserves It is a diamond in the rough and when it is a little further along in the improvements,it will sparkle!!!So be patient and watch it bloom! Thanks to all the staff for a fabulous time

Thank you very much Robbie & Dennie for taking the time to share your experience during your stay with us.
We are very excited for the conversion to All Inclusive in March 1, 2013 and the process will enhance our service and facility in order to strive for excellence.
You two left a footprint in the heart of the staff, many talk about you in the lunch room of how nice and appreciative of their services you were. Blessings to you!

We truly want to become that shining diamond that so many have seen in the rough. We are getting there and we appreciate guests like you who can see beyond.

We look forward to your next visit and thank you for passing the word, we miss you already!

I am an owner at the Finisterra and have been for 14 years and will be there the week of November 12th 2012. I try to stay a week every year. The facility is very close to everything. You can have the quiet beach at the resort or take a quick water taxi to the public beach. Everything is a short taxi ride or in walking distance.
The facilities have not changed much in the 14 years and the decor is the same as when I purchased the unit, Updates would be great! It is common for an elevator to not work or the ice machines to be out of order but not a big deal.
I am curious how the current owners will be affected by the new All Inclusive resort. Higher maintenance fees? More money to continue ownership? Or are we grandfathered under our exsiting contract????

Thank you Donnie for sharing your comments and concerns.

What we are doing is to invite the current members to an information briefing where you can hear and see for yourselves the upcoming plans and options as the conversion to Sandos Finisterra All Inclusive as well as the Prestige Holiday Club has to offer.

In the past weeks we have many new members that have seen the beneifts of this new concept.

We are certain that you will be sharing your experience here in Trip Advisor upon your return.
See you next week!

The Finisterra is an old Cabo hotel with great views and a fantastic location, close to the marina. It is a shame that the owners have allowed the property to deteriorate. Maintenance has been ignored far too long. While the facility is clean, thanks to an attentive staff, necessary repairs appear everywhere. The entire facility needs to be painted, the pools need to be redone, the rooms are tired with old furniture and old TV's with limited stations. There were no computers available for guest usage and the hotel phone system did not work properly. Sandals is attempting to convert the facility to all-inclusive, but with only 1 restauarant, it will be difficult. I would give the reconstruction a year before trying the facility.

Hola George,

Thanks for your objective comments. We would like to mention that we are fully aware that prior management had difficulties keeping the property up to standards.
The SANDOS ALL INCLUSIVE RESORSTS chain has started to do major works as you could see in the original room section up by the cliff.
The recent rains did not help the paint coat that has been put on top of older paint and that is a major part of the upcoming changes.
We have moved the date for the conversion to All Inclusive to March 1 2013 in order to have all the facility and services ready. So we invite you to take a look next time you are in Cabo to see what we have accomplished. We are certain that you will be happily surprised.
As a note we currently have the Blue Marlin Restaurant where we serve breakfast, the Palapa by the pool for lunch and pool snacks and Whale Watcher Restaurant and Bar for dinner and drinks.
We will add three more restaurants and bars to the property in order to be the best value in the heart and soul of Cabo.

My sister in law and I have booked this hotel for a girls getaway November 10-13th. After reading the reviews dated in just the past week I am a bit concerned if we should re book somewhere else. We need reassurance that we did make the correct decision. Are the rooms clean? Is the pool clean and/or heated? Is it bug infested? Please HELP!

Hola Sarah,

Thank you for your comments. We do realize that the last few comments have not been as favorable as we would like but take into consideration that we had a Hurricane Paul passing by and that being indoors instead of taking in the Cabo Sun can change people’s perspective and focus.
We have a very good property that is well known for a candid service, clean facility; unmatched location and great value.
We are certain that as many other guests you will have a great time with us for your girls getaway. Our private beach with incredible sunsets brings the peace and quiet that some are looking for or the walking distance to the restaurants and night life will let you enjoy the fun and excitement that Cabo is known for.
Our pools are nice and clean and the weather is perfect in November. The cold is felt in January and February and we will have our heated pool operating.
So we hope this can help you enjoy your stay at the Finisterra Hotel.
