“Love the location and views are outstanding!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2011

Location, location, location! One of THE most awesome views in the world! We sat on our balcony and saw more whales than we could count! This was our fourth visit. We have also stayed at the Sunset, and Pueblo Bonito. We like the location of the Finisterra the best! The Sunset is a beautiful property but EVERYTHING is a cab ride away. The Pueblo Bonito is in the middle of everything, but a bit too manic! lOVE the pools at the Finisterra! The waiters at the pool are so personable and anxious to please! Just sweethearts! lOVE breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Had chili quesdas (sorry about the spelling) and eggs Benedict. Both were yummy! The papayas are better than the ones I had just had in Maui!

Yes, there is time share in the lobby. We just avoided it. I think you will find this everywhere. In reading other comments about the ice machines, I cannot comment. We needed ice a couple of evenings and just called room service! No problem! My bathroom did not have a lot of amenities. Bring your own lotions and potions. I did call housekeeping for a hair dryer.

The property is beautifully maintained. The rooms are comfy. The linens could be updated. But decent!

In summary, I think of the Finisterra as the grand dame of Cabo! Yes, there is newer and flashier, but they seem a bit "manufactured". I prefer authentic!

If you're looking for a great breakfast or dinner - check out Mama's Royal Cafe on Hildago street in Cabo close to the Marina. This place is operated by Felix and Spencer from Oakland, California initially. This father son team know how to cook amazing food with local baja ingredients including making every night 30 differnet kinds of salsa. Spencer will make you laugh and give you good local tips on everything...my daughters and I were so pleased to have discovered Mama's in Cabo some years ago...

Upon first look, it was great. BUT then, no alarm clock, no coffee to go with coffee maker! All but one jacuzzi works!. Pool bar closes at 8 pm. Ice makers refuse to work. AND then, the welcome package includes a horrible time share presentation. They tried to squeeze us out of 277 grand. Will I go back there. NEVER. What a honeymoon...If I would have known sooner!..The place is 40 years old and falling apart. From faulty tub drains to lousy TV, this place I do not recommend!! Stay clear of room 216

Room Tip: go elsewhere

Let's get the negative out of the way because there isn't much. If you're looking for a more modern contemporary look in your room I guess this isn't it. The TV is old, & the curtains & bedding's flowery pattern looks old. That's it! You shouldn't be staying in your room watching TV anyway, so onto the good stuff. The 3 big pools are really great. The views from the rooms facing the pool & the ocean are great to wake up to every morning. The cleanliness and space is great throughout the hotel. The restaurant's views and food are fantastic as well as the staff.
The location is one of the best. The pools and the beach are steps away and Just walk out the front of the hotel and right across the street you'll find the Marina, dozens & dozens of waterside restaurants and boats to take you to any activities you want to go to. Walk just 5 more minutes along the marina and you're in town with even more great restaurants, shops and night club bars everywhere. I will definitely be coming back here again.

If you are looking for quality. This is the wrong place. The timeshare people set up in the lobby told me how stupid I was for booking activities without them.(free with a 4 hour presentation). Then ran down the Finisterra hotel and said that The Grand Mayan was the place to stay.(I was insulted) The icemakers were purposely disabled to cut energy costs. The maids turn off the lights and AC when you leave the room. Thank God it was in a decent location because I would have freaked out if I had to spend any more time in the loud and echoing rooms. The walls and floors are thin and the tiles amplify sound. The staff was obviously underpaid and unhappy. This resort could be the most fantastic one in Cabo if they invested in modernization, amenities and an American concierge that did not have an agenda and did not get paid off by the timeshare investment companies. Too bad they let this one slip. They need to sell out and have this hotel overhauled. It is going down the tubes and fast. What a bargain! No thanks, I'd rather have champagne on vacation.

The location is on the pacific side, there is no swimming on that side...which was ok. Only older peolpe stay at the hotel...so be ready to see the pool closed at 6pm. there is only one restaurant and the hotel room service food was horrible...the soup taste just like a bowl of water... we went on the caborey cruise line and left our camera on board. We had the cocierge to call to see if it had beed found..two hours later she said they couldnt find it...we decided to go over and check ourselves and they had it...she never called...WOW...we would have left all our memories in Cabo. The room are so old and outdated...I recommend you dont stay here if you want to have a good time at your hotel as well.

Admittedly, this is a friends timeshare, however, she has had it for nearly a decade which must mean something good. This is a clean, tourist and family friendly place, with three outdoor pools, a swim up bar & casual restaurant, and also has a nicer bar/grille. There is free wi-fi in the lobby, as well as ATM's and currency exchange. There is also beach access. Friendly and helpful staff, room turnovers every day, and fabulous happy hour. The pool crowd is family friendly and not too rowdy, which was a respite for us after our clubbing until 4am. Located close to the marina, an easy walk into the town every day.
