“Extraordinary afternoon”

Reviewed January 26, 2014

This is so much more wonderful than our whale watching experience near Boston! Since they use zodiacs, and really know the area, the guides manage to get the boats right next to the animals, and the animals are happy to show off for the people! We spent an hour with several swimming right up to our boat and breaching right next to us - it was just amazing. We were lucky enough to see several newborn calves as well. Magnificent.

Because the guides appear to know what they're doing, and because the animals are not aggressive, I was never scared - which is rare for me. They are totally reassuring and professional.

We only did this on our thrid trip to Cabo - big mistake. This is a must every year from now on.

This was a wonderful experience for our family. We got to see a whale numerous times and it was amazing. The staff were professional yet friendly and playful. Even if we didn't see a whale the views we saw were worth it. We got to see the rock formations, several sailing vessels, and the view of the shoreline were all amazing. As an added bonus we saw sea lions, dolphins, and several kinds of birds. This was a great tour with a great staff.

Started with a tour around land's end rock formation and saw sea lions. We saw 3 whales in a pod within 10 minutes; a female, a juvenile and a male. Fantastic activity: breeching, spouting, jumping and diving. In a cove, outside of the rough ocean, a mother was teaching her baby to roll over the mother to be protected from danger, so the mother would be between the baby and the threat. Tour guide spoke both Spanish and English to the group which had English speakers on one end of the raft and Spanish on the other. Very safety conscious about the rules, yelled "protect your camera" when a wave coming. Had sign language for a passenger to show ready to get seasick. Shown how to stand safely in the raft to see both sides. Got sprayed and got wet, so needed long sleeves. Photographer on board took pictures; sold a CD of the trip for 35 USD, but no still photos. Total about 1 12 hour on the raft. Well worth it.

We left early morning with Caborey looking for Humpbacks, and Grey Whales. This was in February when the Greys are calving and we saw lots of them but we got closest to the Humpbacks. I got some excellent photos from a distance. There were too many boats chasing the whales which I disagree with and we held back. The Whales seemed to like that and came back to cruise around us a few times. We had a great time on a beautiful day, with a great crew.

We missed whale season so we took the Sunset Tour on the Caborey. It was a great experience and about the only ship that took us out to the Arch and over the Pacific side. We got a second photo oppportunity of the Arch free of the other boats that try to out jockey your boat for position for photos. We cruised the bay and saw the other hotels, which was nice as well. After all the other boats went back to the marina, the Caborey anchored in the bay so we could actually enjoy the sunset for over an hour. The beverages were refreshing and the band was really good on the top deck. My wife and I loved it and there were very few Americans on the ship the night we went which allowed us to work on our spanish speaking skills. The bathrooms were clean and food was good. I would recommend the Caborey over any of the other sunset tours for the quality and amount of time spent out on the water. My wife and I loved it!
