“Awesome experience”
Reviewed July 13, 2012

Took my wife and two children on this whale watching tour. It was a once in a lifetime experience. The owners are marine biologists who specialize in whales so our guide was very knowledgeable. It would have been great just seeing the whales so up close, but to additionally have all this info was awesome. The scenery was also beautiful and would have been worth the trip even without the whales.

Thank you for sharing your whale watching experience with us! We feel very lucky to be able to share these magical moments with whale watching enthusiasts like you and your family. The whales inspire so many of our guests with childlike wonder, it is an experience you really need to have to understand.
We hope that our efforts to share the world of the whales continues to delight people, we are so looking forward to the 2013 whale watching season here in Cabo San Lucas.
This year we are adding a hydrophone and a pole cam - a high definition camera mounted on a pole that is water proof, so we can see what the whales are up to underwater! These are sure to make the entire experience much more interesting and give our biologists a glimpse into humpback whale behaviors here in Cabo San Lucas. Hope to see you back again soon, thanks again for sharing your experience.

“Top notch operation!”
Reviewed May 17, 2012

My wife and I were looking for a whale watching tour in Cabo and made our decision to go with Whale Watch Cabo based on other TripAdvisor reviews. Peter, Janneke, and the captain (Santos) definitely lived up to the Excellent rating. I watch a lot of nature documentaries, but learned so much new information from Peter and Janneke. Their passion and knowledge about the whales are obvious from the beginning of the trip! I especially liked how they respected the space of these magnificent creatures where other boats were practically on top of the whales. The crew worked like a well oiled machine to spot the whales, anticipate when and where they would surface again, and then make sure we were ideally positioned for everybody to see and take pictures. Whale Watch Cabo is definitely the way to go for a professional and fun experience.

We really appreciate how our guests enjoy the respectful orientation to our whale watching tours here in Cabo - an area that often seems to have a 'wild west' mentality when it comes to interacting with the whales.
Our mandate as a company is to go the mile further to find receptive whales, not chase the unlucky couple of whales that pass directly in front of the bay.
The interesting result to a non-invasive approach, allowing the whales own curiosity to engage us on their terms, is that our guests typically enjoy longer encounters, with more relaxed whales, the whales often coming close to the boat to inspect us. Some days a valid question is 'who is watching whom?'
Thank you for sharing your positive comments with fellow travelers to Cabo. Whale Watch Cabos marine biologist guides and professional photographers will continue to strive to be the leaders in responsible whale watching in Cabo while ensuring wonderful interactions for our guests to observe.

“Fabulous Experience....”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

We were lucky enough to get out with our guide, Peter, the first week of April and although the whale watching is not as good this late in the season, Peter assured us we would see whales. We started out with a short tour of Pelican Rock, the Sea Lion colony and of course, El Arco. We then set out for whales. Our captain, Santos, was in contact with other boats and we heard of a mother and a baby humpback a few miles away. On the way over we saw the most fascinating display of porpoises flying through the air. There must have been a hundred of them in a school that passed right by our boat. As we approached the whales, Peter gave us some education on the habits and instincts of them. The next 45 minutes were spectacular. We were within 50 metres of the whales when we arrived. Peter estimated the age of the baby at about 2-3 weeks old. It was quite curious and got to within 2 metres of our boat. The highlight was seeing the mother invert herself under our boat to feed her baby. I think the main difference with this tour over others I've taken, is the information we received regarding sealife in the area and the conservation practises being taken by the government of the area. I'd highly recommend Whale Watch Cabo as your first choice for this type of tour. Don't expect Tequila shots, or anything like that. This tour offers what it advertises, whale watching. We were not disappointed.

Thank you for sharing your experience whale watching with us, the Sea of Cortez always has many wonderful surprises to excite nature lovers, and you have painted a very wonderful (and accurate) image of what a tour with Whale Watch Cabo is like.
Often we tell people our tours are almost more of marine wildlife tours, as we see not just whales, but sea lions, often dolphins, leaping manta rays, sea turtles and more. Both Peter and myself (Janneke) enjoy the amazing spectacle of marine species in the area and enjoy sharing our knowledge of these animals.
I think you have hit the nail on the head, what we aim for, what makes Whale Watch Cabo a bit unique is the level of knowledge that we share. All of our guides, with marine biology backgrounds, are unique in Cabo in the whale watching industry, we hope to make our tours not just fun, but informative without being preachy, adding to the wonder of what we are so lucky to be observing, the lives of the magnificent great whales.

“Wonderful experience!”
Reviewed April 22, 2012

Thank you, Janneke and Peter, for a wonderful experience on both of our whale watching tours. We, too, felt that we were taking a tour with friends who cared that we got the best sighting and best photo angle. Your knowledge about and obvious passion for the whales was inspiring! We absolutely loved it...especially the mother and two week old baby! We were at the very end of the whale watching season but Peter and Janneke found many whales for us to see including a gray whale when most of them had already begun their migration. Don't hesitate to book with these folks. You will have a wonderful experience and come away with an even greater respect for these beautiful creatures of the deep.

We really enjoy getting such positive feedback from our guests, makes us feel like we are on the right track with our Whale Watching Tours. We do want all of our guests to feel comfortable, like enjoying a boat trip with new friends, just how we would want to feel if we were the guests.
We realize how special an experience, even unique it may be for our guests, so we endeavor to make sure everyone feels welcome and part of the experience. We really enjoy sharing our knowledge and passion for all things 'Whale' and hope that we can show people some of the most beautiful animals on this planet.
Thanks again for the lovely review. We will keep trying to make everyones whale watching tours in Cabo San Lucas a memory (and photos) to last a long time.

“Highly recommended! Janneke & Peter rock!”
Reviewed April 6, 2012

Whale watch Cabo was just as advertized: Peter & Janneke are friendly, knowledgeable guides who are also marine biologists - they're eco-friendly & respect the whales - they answered everyone's questions & obviously love what they're doing (unlike most tourist attractions - they seem more concerned with optimizing their guests' experience than with maximizing income).
We came at the end of whale watching season (which actually goes to 4/15) so, we really only got a great view of a mother & her calf - but it was spectacular - with mama slapping her fins & tail like crazy and baby trying to learn to breach. We got lots of camera shots as well as 10 minutes of good video & added to our momentos with the CD of Peter & Janneke's professional photos ($35). (They are photographically documenting the humpback & grey whale migration here & sending their data up north to fellow marine biologists).

What a great thing to say! Thanks! You are right, we do love what we are doing, and what we are doing is something unique here in Cabo.
As the only marine biologists leading tours here in Cabo we combine responsible eco-tourism with data collection (in the form of photo ID) to further our understanding of the whales. We feel that this is the future of whale conservation, to introduce people to the whales in an informative and respectful way, to further establish the value of whales as a flagship species for the value of tourism dollars vs commercial harvesting dollars.
The short story, we believe that the more people who go whale watching, the more the whales are worth alive, the better we can protect them. If we can add in some education, fun and amazing experiences like breaching baby whales - then we feel we have a good chance at ensuring future generations will continue to see the value in protecting whales.
We hope that, like yourselves, we can continue to attract people to come and see the whales, to learn about their spectacular lives and share their experiences with others! Thanks again!
