“Wonderful time.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014 via mobile

As I spend my last night at Playa Grande, I must give big applause to the hotel and it's staff. From the check in till now, my 6th night, I have nothing but compliments.
It was a pleasant surprise for me to receive free wi fi as Expedia Elite Plus member upon checking in.
The property is immaculately maintained.
Never once I was approached by a timeshare person.
Had to pick up our tower cards from one of the ladies in the lobby. When informed the lady how tired we were from our journey, she promptly gave us tower cards with a smile. I believe that she is what others refer to as a scary timeshare salesman.
Attended two nightly functions. Mexican Fiesta and Beach party. Abundance of food and great waiter service. Roberto, the MC is a riot. His crew of entertainers were awesome. Hilarious and funny. Laughed away my stresses from back home.
Location is great. Walking distance to the Marina. Marina is pretty and clean.
Rented a small sedan near Marina. On my second day, I got tired of walking and walked into an Alamo rental car place. Rented a car for $65 a day including all taxes and required insurance. The manager at Alamo told me to just drop off the car when done at a desk in lobby at Playa Grande. Kept the car for 4 days and was very easy process for both pick up and drop off. The property has an indoor parking right by the lobby entrance which is another plus.
One bedroom suite is spacious and overlooks the pool and ocean. Great balcony too.
Overall, very satisfying stay with Playa Grande. Too bad I have to return tomorrow and face reality again.
Great place for family.

I want to recognize Juan, Teo and Daniel as being the best guys there. Teo was so great to us each day at the pool during our time on the ridge. He helped get my little guys raft blown up when it was too much for my old lungs. Daniel was always ready to help at the front lobby. Remembered our names from last year. Quite a feat. They all had smiles on their faces and were ready to assist anytime we needed. Juan was top notch too and great service. Kept us in those wonderful strawberry smoothies each day, sans alcohol for the little ones.

Room Tip: We love being up on the RIDGE, very peaceful but fun for the little kids too.

I've come back to Playa Grande every year for the past 17 years and I love it more every year. It is well kept, so comfortable, and perfectly located just outside of downtown Cabo & the Marina. It's great to be able to walk everywhere; watch the whales right from the beach or from your terrace. The beach is not safe for swimming, but it's great for sun bathing and the whales, sea lions and sting rays come in quite close; and it's just a few minutes by inexpensive water taxi to 2 beaches where you can swim. There are also many well kept pools to chose from. There's a well stocked full kitchen, so you can eat in or out as you wish. There's also an all inclusive option, if that's your thing, but I'd rather go into town. They do a lot of party nights, more every year it seems, which I find a little noisy, but it only goes on until 9pm and a lot of the guests really like them.

Room Tip: I prefer the higher rooms closer to the beach in the original part of Playa Grande

I do not have anything bad to say about the resort. I can say if your not using the all inclusive option the dinner show/buffet is definitely not worth the price, much better places to eat within walking distance. Check-in was fast and easy, our room was large, clean, and had everything we needed. We went to a grocery store and made a lot of our meals in our partial kitchen as many guests of this resort do. The rooftop pool is amazing and peaceful while the large pools with the beach view are fun and several activities take place per day. Overall I highly recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for a Cabo San Lucas vacation.

Just returned from a great one-week stay at PG in Cabo with my wife and two kids (13, 11) We made the trip from Southern CT, where the weather has been miserable, so it was like paradise in a lot of ways to have 7 straight days of 90* and sunny in April- Very happy that we stayed at Playa Grande, and decided to stay on the Pacific side, where it's honestly far calmer than the noisy Medano Beach on the other side of the Arch, which was overrun by Vendors, trying to sell everything imaginable. The ability to walk to town is a plus, if you don't mind walking 1 mile or so, where many restaurants, shops are within reach. The lack of swimming in the Pacific ocean is just a minor negative, but is far outweighed by the beauty and layout of this resort, which has four+ swimming pools, 2 hot tubs, Putt-putt golf, tennis, & gym. (Easy to just spend time on the beach and then swim in the pool) So even though it seemed like there had the potential of being many people at the resort, the layout of the grounds actually makes it seem not crowded at all and very spaced out, which was great. Positives include the staff, with friendly attitudes by Humberto, Luis, Miriam and Cristina, who go out of their way to make you feel at home, with Humberto in his enthusiastic self running many fun-fillled activities on the pool grounds. Additionally, the broad layout discussed earlier, and cleanliness are real pluses- The grounds are immaculate and the attention to detail by the grounds crew, daily, to make sure things are just right was incredible. The quietness of this resort after 8 pm might be a positive also to most families, and they seem to shut down the pools and Hottub by 8, 11 respectively, though most nights it was very calm by 8 pm. Minor negatives in my view were the costliness of the restaurants, (we preferred Calima to Brigantine for both quality and price) (The lobster at Brigatine last week was very overcooked, and portions were small_ Steak was adequate, but not properly seasoned, as someone who enjoys steaks- and the wine lists were expensive and subpar, along with the lack of a cheap, good WI-FI signal- (note- this IS available, but one must pay $10 a day, or $40 a week and the service is sporadic. Also, the pullout beds in the single units really are only for kids, and aren't that comfortable (but not too big of a deal) and the shower requires one to step up to get in, which might be an issue for the elderly or disabled. (also, minor) The larger problem is the degree to which Time-share sales attempts and presentations have come to dominate weeks of this sort, and despite a few freebies, you never know who to trust. (My wife and i were approached at the airport and honestly, (having not prepared for the trip to the hotel- which is recommended to book beforehand), ended up signing up for cheaper, halfprice hotel round trip private transport, along with 2 free activities with someone at the airport, only to be told at the hotel that we couldn't trust anyone we dealt with( Our rep at the hotel promptly advised us to rip up the original document and sign on with them, going over a full list of new freebies and promising us a rebate of the money we'd paid - which worked out, but a minor nuisance to say the least after a long day of travel) The beaches at Playa Grande were fantastic though, and had little or no vendors attempting to sell anything, which was a breath of fresh air. The Putt-putt-golf at $10 per person (less for children) was a little much in my view, which would have cost our family nearly $40 to play putt-putt for 20 mins, when we actually all played Tennis for an hour for no fee, outside of just renting rackets for $6 per pair (So the cost difference in these was interesting) The general store at the resort has just about anything one could want for basic necessities, food & liquor, but i found the prices of the liquor to be much more expensive than i thought- ie Most liquor bottles sold for about $30 US- $350-$450 Pesos, while a bottle of Grand Marnier that i wanted to buy to make margaritas with the Tequila was offered at nearly $70 a bottle, or $900 Pesos- Overalll, the beauty, cleanliness, quietness, and layout of this resort outweighed the negatives, which might be the same elsewhere, and will put this back near the highs on our list when returning. But the negatives are just a few things to consider when visiting.

Room Tip: We stayed in the C lodge, facing the pool on the 3rd floor- which i thought was a great location gi...

From the minute we got to the hotel to the time we left, the staff at Grande Playa were helpful with anything we needed or had questions about. I didn't see a frown the whole time we were there. The pool staff are a hard working group dedicated to making your vacation as enjoyable as possible. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and we especially enjoyed the adults only pool. Perfect warm non-humid climate and sunny days seem to be the norm here. Probably the best all-inclusive we have stayed at. The food was consistently good with the exception of not using real eggs on the breakfast bar, which I have seen others complain about. They still tasted good, and there's probably 30 other selections to choose from, so it wasn't an issue for us. Drinks poolside were not watered down. There's also a small mini-mart/liquor store on the property if you want extra supplies and nightly entertainment and wifi was included in the all inclusive package.

Room Tip: We stayed in the L building on the 5th floor, room 2505, and the views were stunning. The room we s...
