We recently were married at the Playa Grande Resort. The wedding coordinator, Erika, was incredible from start to finish. She stayed through the entire event to ensure everything went perfectly. Also, while all the staff were professional and courteous, Jesus and Diana went above and beyond any of our expectations to ensure we were not only satisfied, but thrilled with our experience. We are looking forward to our return trip!

Can't say enough good things about Victor and Vilma in the lobby bar. They were so very nice and really made all us of feel like very special people. We look forward to seeing both of them again as we are planning another trip in June.

We just returned from a fabulous week at Playa Grande. The grounds are beautiful and are meticulously maintained. The staff is exceptional. They remembered us and worked hard to provide great service. They food is very good and the theme nights are fun and entertaining. We went to Fiesta Night, Boogie Night and Latin night. We skipped the Beach Party thinking it would be mostly a younger crowd. When we returned from dinner in town, we heard the band playing and were sorry we had skipped the party. This is a very family oriented property but there were a number of younger groups that seemed to be having fun as well. I saw and heard no wild parties. The property is showing a little age, which is why I gave it 4 stars, but it is so well maintained that I have no complaints about the rooms. The grounds are beautiful. There are so many beautiful flowers throughout the resort. We purchased the optional all inclusive. It was very reasonable, but that kept us from exploring outside restaurants around the marina. There are so many nice looking places, and the marina is a short walk from the resort. It could be difficult for someone with knee or hip issues because of the steep hill between the resort and the marina. We booked round trip transportation from the airport through the hotel website. I would highly recommend booking your transportation prior to arrival. If not, you will be bombarded by people at the airport offering transportation (with hopes of luring you into a timeshare presentation). I would recommend Playa Grande for couples, groups or families. My husband and I will definitely go back again.

Room Tip: Our room #1006 was on the first floor in a building very close to the lobby. We had no noise issues...

The rooms are ok, clean...but that is about it. If you have a trip fro several days, avoid this place, eventually everything that is sub standard gets to you.
1. customer service sucks. their primary goal is NOT to meet your expectations, it is to sell you a time share. For example, there is usually 1-2 people to help you in the lobby with your travel needs and up to 8 there to sell you a time share. not buying and need help? you are waiting.
2. internet is almost as bad as dial up! it rarely works in the rooms and when it does, it kicks you off all the time.
3. there is no pool management. if you want a spot at the pool, you have to get up super early and put your towel on your chair. most nice places manage chairs so people can't drop their towels and take off for the day.
4. the rooms are EXTREMELY LOUD. their is no sound control in the rooms. if someone is moving next to you or above you, you can hear it! this is a huge spring breaker hotel so you get to listen to everyone's party all night! again, no customer service, so no one to manage the situation.

We just got back from a 3 week vacation in Cabo. We stayed 2 weeks at Grand Solmar & 1 week at Playa Grande. We are owners at Grand Solmar & rented from an owner through VRBO at Playa Grande. We really appreciate the elegance & sophistication at Grand Solmar. We love the pools & the quietness there. We still went over to Playa Grande every day to partake in activities. I enjoyed Spanish lessons, ping pong tournaments, Black Jack tournaments, and stretching classes. There are much more active activities, but I had a knee injury so couldn't do them. Cristina, Miriam, Humberto, & Luis were fantastic activities' staff. They were always happy and energetic. Cristina & Miriam were lovely young ladies that always called me by name and were very personable. Humberto & Luis were funny & engaging. They were all respectful of all ages and are a credit to the Solmar family. We also took cooking classes with Selene at Solmar & enjoyed our sessions with her too. We used the gym & were happy with the facility. We went to the Mexican Fiesta & enjoyed the entertainment. I'm sorry that Roberto injured himself & hope that he has a quick recovery. He was a very good host. As far as staying at Playa Grande, we loved the view from our balcony, but it is noisy in the evenings. Weddings, Beach party, & other festivities are pretty loud when you aren't part of the party. The hot tub got pretty loud as well & the Spring Breakers kind of took it over. I never even went in the hot tub at Playa Grande, but at Grand Solmar it was an every evening event. Whale watching was fun right from the balcony.

This was our 7th visit to Cabo San Lucas, but the very first time that we stayed in town rather than along the corridor. Our decision to stay at Playa Grande was one that far exceeded our expectations. The resort is fully self-contained offering multiple restaurants, bars, pools, spa, mini-golf, tennis and a wide variety of special activities. You can also walk to the marina area and take advantage of the multitude of activities and restaurants in this area. Almost too many options to choose from on a daily basis (not a bad thing).
The resort itself is beautiful. Impeccably clean and staffed by some of the most pleasant people you could ever hope to encounter. We stayed in the Ridge section, closest to town. The private pool for this section had spectacular views of both the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. We have to give special recognition to the staff of the Ridge bar/restaurant: Violeta, Gerardo, Raciel, Juan and Ismael. In addition to some spectacular service, their patience and encouragement helped me have a little more confidence in my use of Spanish! A great resort that I would recommend without hesitation
